AGM RAF COSFORD 2012 SHORT DEBRIEF.
First - once again you will be all pleased to hear that the subs of £11
remain the same. At the latest count we have 969 members of which 17
attended the AGM with 7 Council Members. One of the main items discussed
at the AGM was how to celebrate 75 Years of RAFARS (also see next para).
The G3FVC Award was won by Ronald G4DDX, Field Rep. Award by Stanley GOBYA
and the Construction Cup went to Martyn G4SOH. Well done all.
Other Contest awards will appear in the next QRV Journal.
The Dinner, held in the evening following the AGM, went off very well and,
as usual, a good time was had by all.

RAFARS IS 75 YEARS OLD ON MONDAY 1ST OF APRIL 2013.
Next year RAFARS is 75yrs old. It would be appreciated if RAFARS members
make a big effort to tell the world by either putting on a SES or write
ups in your local Papers/Journals. Do not leave it too late - only two
months till January 2013 - and, do not forget, it takes at least a couple
of months to organise these things.
RAFC Cranwell, RAF Locking and RAF Cosford, our HQRAFARS during the last
75 years, will be our main operating locations on April 1st.
Anyone who puts a SES on the air for the RAFARS 75 Years please ask all
stations worked if they require a QSL Card or not. and which system they
wish to use; via the Bureau, via Services or Direct by means of a SAE.
This way it will save lots of cards being destroyed and RAFARS will be
creating the 75 years Cards once we have an idea how many cards are
required to be printed. Do not forget to inform News Desk so as a list
can be made up of SES expected to be on the Air during Mon (Bank Holiday)
1st April or any other time which fits in with your year planner. And do
not forget to inform the RSGB RadCom editor, Suggest we work HF on
80m,40m as Primary bands and stick to RAFARS frequencies if possible.

A RAFARS SUNDAY MORNING NET ON 5MHZ.
For the past few weeks a trial has been carried out on 5 MHz channel FM,
frequency 5.403.50 MHz USB. Up to 9 stations have called in from the
United Kingdom and Europe. The controller is the first station on air,
whoever that may be, until he wishes to pass control to another station.
The Secondary frequency is channel FE, 5.398.50 MHz USB. Of course only
licencees with a full licence and a 5 MHz notice of variation can use
these frequencies which is obtainable from Ofcom.
The net is usually restricted to no more than one hour and is designed
so as not to clash with other regular networks run by the society.
Please join us, or listen and send in a report.

GB2RAF AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEUM RAF NEATISHEAD RAFARS PERMANENT S.E.S.
De-brief - Sat 13 Oct. 32 Stations worked which included GB80PW.
No RAFARS on the 1100A Net but I did work one RAFARS G3TIX on 40m.
Most of the day I remained on 40m and did a short time on CW 20m DX.
As there is never any RAFARS on 3.567 CW I am not going to continue
this sked but I will remain to call CQ CW DX 14.055 at 1200A.
GB2RAF will be operational normally every 2nd Sat of the month. Primary
frequency is 3.710Mhz but if 80m is down we can be found on 7.055Mhz.
7.100Mhz plus is the best for contacts over the last year.
Any RAFARS Member can operate the station with a class A licence but
contact Terry G4PSH first to clear it with RAFARS Membership and the Museum
Manager.
GB2RAF is for RAFARS Members to operate whenever you wish on Tues, Thurs
or the 2nd Sat of every month 1000-1600hrs. The equipment is a IC736
100w into a Inverted V Trap Dipole for 20 40 80m.
