sad news into the newsdesk that Stan Aldridge VK4MFA has gone Silent Key.
Thanks to Ross/VK4AQ on behalf of the Tablelands Radio Group, here is
a heartfelt obituary about a gentleman of Amateur Radio.
Stan Aldridge VK4MFA passed away peacefully at the Atherton Hospital
in Far North Queensland at 10 am on Sunday, 21st October with
his family around his bedside.
He was 83 years old.
Stan was a well respected Amateur whose interest in the hobby spanned
almost thirty years, having gained his Novice call in the early 1980.s
following his earlier activities in CB radio.
As Stan spent much of his time as a younger man in road building camps
throughout the north, Amateur Radio gave him a release from the monotony
and isolation so often experienced in these situations.
His call was well known on many a Net, both locally and throughout the nation.
He was an avid Dx-er with many countries throughout the world entered in his log.
Stan was a reticent man, a man of great humility.
Kind and courteous and never a bad word to say about anybody.
When on convoy type trips with the Tablelands Radio Group through
Far North Queensland, Stan was the commensurate raconteur, regaling us with stories
of when he was building the particular road upon which we were travelling
at the time.
Being of very dry wit, it was sometimes difficult to know when he was having
a lend of his fellow travellers.
When you made a friend of Stan, you made a friend for life.
Besides his family, Stan.s great loves were Freemasonry, in which he exalted,
Amateur Radio and Fishing.
These activities will be much the poorer for his passing.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Val and daughters Lesa and Wendy and
their families.
At peace and at rest with his beloved son, Phillip.

- K6H - Special Event Radio Station . Finally.
The Southern California based PAPA Repeater System will be holding
a ham radio special event!
Under the call sign K6H, Ham Radio Celebrates Hollywood will be held on
Sunday, October 28th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (1600Z . 2000Z) and emanate
from the Stage 9 of the CBS Studio Center facility in Studio City, California.
Historic Stage 9 is the home of ABC-TVs Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen.
Seinfeld, Spin City, According To Jim, Cane, The Cleaner and The Defenders are
among the shows that have been shot on the stage.
Several of the shows licensed operators will be on hand to host the PAPA members
and a number of paths will be available to contact the stage including
HF, VHF, UHF, DSTAR, Echolink and IRLP.
A schedule of operating times and frequencies will be published on the PAPA website.
Take a break from contesting, come over and say hi.

To facilitate contacts during the event, operators will BLOG in real-time
on the
KA0XTT Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KA0XTT) and on the @NN6JA on Twitter page.
The set will also be monitoring the BEARS (ABC/Disney) interconnected repeater system,
which links W2ABC (in Manhattan), WD4WDW (in Orlando Florida) and KA6AJE
(in the Los Angeles area). The system can be reached on Echolink via WD4WDW-R.
We are hoping other organizations will link in to make this a national event.
A special, limited edition QSL card will be issued to all confirmed contacts.

The Annual General Meeting of The Townsville Amateur Radio Club will be
happening on Sunday November 25th 2012.
Whoop-de-doo you say - but wait, what is that delicious smell you can
detect from 4 weeks into the future ?
Thats what it is !
The event is starting with a pancake breakfast from 7am to 8-30am
with the goop made from Lexs secret receipe, slightly modified by
Rob/VK4RB and then slightly further modified and put together by Kooka/VK4FRJG
and cooked up by the Iron Faraday Cage Chefs. Yummmie !
After the sumptuous pancake feast the nuts and bolts of the
Annual General Meeting will take place.

fittings to suit FSJ4-50B, a 1/2" hardline made by Andrew.
Numerous types include 44ASW, F4NM-C, etc.
These were/are attached to short lengths of patch cable
pre-assembled by Andrew factory, (with shrink sleeve) ranging from 3' to 6'.
John also says that the other end are DIN, not much use for VHFers but good scrap brass.
John can easily remove the tail if not required, or cut the connector off for

The net calls in regular stations and then invites new stations to call in.
If conditions are poor on 7MHz, net control might move to around 3600kHz
depending on how pliable the net operators are.
