NATIONAL CW FIELD DAY G8FC/P 2/3 JUNE 2012.
From Council and Members,
Once again a big thanks to the crew G3ZDW i/c, G4OSB G4DQP G0NVY M0CES
2E0EZN and Paul who took part in the RSGB NFD at Metheringham this year.
The WX was not good again, wet at 9c at night, but the main thing
everyone had a good time but above all RAFARS took part. Results will
be given in the RadCom and the NL in due course.
GB2VET VETERANS SPECIAL EVENT STATION.
GB2VET is coming up again which is the 10th Anniversary at the end of
July. I have just had the council confirm we have a site allocated at East
Park, Holderness Road, Hull for the 27-28-29th July 2012.
We hope to cover all useable bands that are open HF and VHF+UHF+ D-Star
with a working 1154-5 WW2 RAF Equipment with displays of vintage equipment

GB2RAF will not be operational 11 Aug 2012 due to G4PSH XYL Birthday
unless of course we get a RAFARS Member to put it on the air.
De-brief Sat 9 June GB2RAF Conditions V Poor on 80m RAFARS on 80m net
G2AFV G3HWQ G0SDZ G3AZW M0RGI and G4PFR.
Due to poor conditions on 80m I remained on 40m for the rest of the day
working 33 station in all.
GB2RAF now has its own tx/rx equipment in the shack permanently consisting
of an IC736 Internal ATU and Desk Mic this was donated by Frankie G0WZU
(Ex RAFARS 1812) now S/K.
GB2RAF will be operational normally every 2nd Sat of the month. Primary
frequency is 3.710Mhz but if 80m is down we will be found on 7.065Mhz.
Any RAFARS Member can operate the station but contact Terry G4PSH first
to clear it with RAFARS Membership and the Museum Manager.
GB2RAF is for RAFARS Members to operate when ever you wish on Tues,
Thur or the 2nd Sat of every month 1000-1600hrs.

Any member may attend Council meetings but travel costs can not be paid.
Members wishing to attend (and applying by snail mail) must contact Mike
G7JPN our Gen. Sec., one month before the due date or two weeks by e-mail.
EQUIPMENT DONATED FREE TO AFFILIATED ATC SQNS.
The following equipment has been given to the society by the daughter of
Frankie G0ZDW who became S/K a few months ago. All that was asked was to
find it a good home. If your Squadron can make use of any of the equipment,
FT75B complete with Manual, FT290R, AR146, TM401A, Yaesu FV50C, please
contact Terry G4PSH. Transport not provided but will bring to the AGM at
Cosford if required. First come first served.
RAFARS QRV JOURNAL.
In the first edition of QRV in our 75th anniversary year I propose to try,
not only to reflect our anniversary but to look forward to the future.
I would like to include as many articles by our next generation, ATC
cadets and current staff members, as possible.
If you have an idea for an article please contact me to discuss it ASAP.
The editor needs input, Articles, Pictures, Feedback on previous
event/items. Whatever you send, if it is RAF/Radio/Amateur oriented, then
it will be considered.
If you want QRV, (an award winning amateur radio journal), then I require
input from you all.

after 6 months of being received and your call sign removed from the NLs.

AIR TRAINING CORPS.
The Radio Communications Foundation is pleased to announce that agreement
has been reached with the Air Cadets Organisation (ACO) to accept a pass
in their ACO Radio Communications Foundation Equivalent Examination
(Spider Badge) as equivalent to a pass in the Amateur Radio Foundation
examination.
Ofcom has also accepted that the ACO FE examination syllabus meets the
Radio Amateur Foundation level requirements and will issue a Radio
Amateur Foundation level licence via the Radio Society of Great Britain
(RSGB), on receipt of a successful Air Cadet candidate pass details.
The Foundation understands that the RSGB is offering those under 21 who
achieve their licence through this route a year’s free membership of
the Society.
