Hello, especially OM David

> Morse wasn't promoted for its intrinsic values...

Well, I guess , we oltimers are aware of all the values
there.

In my opinion , its rather a failure of assessing new ways
to utelise radio - and in special, Ham-Radio.

I had , some moons ago put this idea forward...then even the
herold of packet ( have your own guess) Didn't have an idea
how it should work.
Mhh, yes, agreed , I myself have had -still have only a
slight fog of this approach.

BUT ! Television.. , Radio lost unmeasurably by evapoaring
all these (BBC) radio ,shows. But TV added : Live , sorta
reality shows, visual approaches of the new kind and the
geographical wonders of the world. NO -, Ham-radio cannot
compete.
But , still NO try was-is forthcoming.
Some fresh idea of ... and here is the catch ... UTELIZING
the spectrum for...And here I mean - not to abandon the old
ideas of technology for the learners etc. BUT - utelizing
the system for something...New, fresh and amazing.
Point in case :

When , thereabouts , maybe 20 years ago Packet was born -
More in the US then anything else, it took - now more than
10 years ago , here in South Africa - to develop it to its
peak.
And it seems to me - lately reading that "Guadeloupe" and b4
other - for us most - exotic places - to come to the
fray...when the US shutdown most of its way...
There seems to be a very great time lag , in introducing
technology - maybe NOT envisioned by most of the players?
And shutting down - any WW system , being it albeit slow -
is a shame. In any view.
Understandeable so.

Having said the above, I must confess, not knowing from the
onset, but it still it rather seems - the most unifying
experience Ham radio had - and still has ... is Morse.

Morse withstoud a hundred years...packet not even 20. Or so.
So : Unless we find a new way to utelise the airwaves to
accomodate the wolds players...

Tch,,, in the beginning I didnt think itll turn out that
way...My ramblings...but, having thought it over...
