Hello and thanks for reading this
Linux ARP responses fail >2.6 Kernel
I am now getting the same problem as detail below with the 3.# series
linux kernel. using the latest ax25-tools, utils and Libs
as anyone got this working on Native Linux (not using xnos, jnos, xnet
running an ip stack ontop of the Linux distribution.)
resend of an Internet article which did not get a solution.
IP over and AX25IPD UDP connect does not workon kernals from 2.6
(IP <ax25 encap AX25> IP
ARP request >>>>>>>>>
<<<<<<<<< ARP REPLY SENT (static ARP configured at both ends)
See the ARP reply in the listen screen
and goes in to a Bit bucket.
ARP RP_filter settings are disabled
net44 IP over AX25UDP does not work.
I have never got this working on my remote partners system when they
upgraded to the 2.6 kernels during the last decade. Now I cannot get this
working with my RaspberryPi to my 2.2.26 kernel.
So this problem has caught up with me again. So this problem has caught up with me again.
This has also beaten other network Guru's who always wanted to use the latest
and greatest Kernels when 2.6 was released.
Works fine on my 2.2.26 kernel the version of ax25ipd that I am using
my main server and installed 4.June 2007.
This is my test
244.4 is the Raspberry Pi Debian build
244.1 is the 2.2.26 system
Telnet from 244.4 to 244.1 over and axudp tunnel fails
Can see the ARP requests over the AX25IPD UDP axu2 Interface on both
machine. Nothing seems to happen requests ignored. In the past we have
even entered static arp entries and still fails to establish the IP link
Local Machine (244.4)
sender IPaddr 44.131.244.4 hwaddr G4APL-11
target IPaddr 44.131.244.1
axu2: fm G4APL-11 to QST ctl UI pid=CD(ARP) len 30 07:13:31
ARP: len 30 hwtype AX25 prot IP op REQUEST
Change the ax25ipd to IP socket and using the ipip tunnel works, which is no
good if the remote end has a domestic ADSL/DSL router that does not support
protocol 4 and 94.
Anyone goAnyone got any recommendstions solutions. I have spent hows researching this
again today
