Hi David,
Do you want a dedicated server, or do you want to still use the server as
a PC as well?
If you want a dedicated server, have a look at FreeNAS (www.freenas.org).
This is based on FreeBSD, but has been specifically designed to be used as
a server. It can be run from a live CD with the configuration data stored
on a floppy disc, or from a USB drive. Once the network interface has been
configured from the keyboard, all other setup is through a HTML interface
from any PC in the network.
