Hello Brian,
How long is a piece of string!
Some printer manufacturers are living in the 21st Century and some are
still using a hammer, chisel and stone.
HP seems to be fairly well represented for Linux and so does Brother.
My Brother HL-2040 mono laser printer has manufacturer produced Linux
drivers. My Epson Photo R230 inkjet has third party drivers that provide
"some functions".
Kubuntu 8.04 is supplied with the Brother drivers so they are a snack to
install from KDE.
If you choose a printer and the drivers are available from the
manufacturer, but only by downloading them online, I'll happily get them
for you and burn them to a CD. I'll even search for driver availability
for you if you provide me with printer make and model, and you distro
details.
