Linux Tip (de Ray VK2TV)
# uname -a
reports the kernel version & compile date.
On my old learner's system (P166 + 92 MB RAM + 2 GB HDD)
the report says:
Linux linux 2.2.10 #3 SUN AUG 10 00:36:47 NZST 2008 i686 unknown
The date is that when the kernel was compiled. I had just compiled a
kernel with the Amateur Radio AX25 options turned ON & built into it.
The original kernel the Suse6.2 installer made reports:
Linux linux 2.2.10 #1 TUE JUL 20 16:32:24 MEST 2008 i686 unknown
Eddie ZL2AQY tried the uname command in his Mandrevia Linux system and got
the expected report.
