XV. CIS AREAS LIST:

Administrative geography concerns itself with the hierarchy of areas relating to
national and local governments in the CIS. This hierarchy is complicated for not
only are there several layers but the structure is different in each country of the
CIS. In addition the boundaries of many of the layers in the hierarchy are subject
to periodic or occasional change.

Use this link http://www.cisdx.srars.org/cisdxmaps.html to view maps of all 12
CIS countries.

The two letter plus two number abbreviations are given to CIS Areas by the CIS
DX Contest Committee. These are used along with the full name in the list. Use
this PDF file http://www.cisdx.srars.org/cisdxclist.pdf as a standard CIS Areas
List for the CIS DX Contest. There are 213 current entities in the list.
