It saddens me that you get QRM on a Uniden as they were behind many of the
CB radios like President which suffered far less from QRM than ham rigs.
I have a small flat but no car. My trick in the past was to sit on the
same frequency, same time, day after day. I did have 50W available but you
don't say what you have.
Examples of where I got were the west Indies with several contacts and, on
another station's rig, despite people breaking in and suggesting fgoing to
20m, I went to 10 and got a couple of contacts in South America, one of
them kept me so long that, eventually, I had to invent a non existant wife
calling me for tea. My friend, a class 'B' licensee decided that he was
never going to bother with a class 'A' if it was so boring.
Warren has a point about some people employing a sort of 'breaking
channel' but, if you want DX, I found that my trick, one channel where I
always was, worked very well. Some CBs had a CW skt, I tried that bit
found it slow and boring. I presume that there are still a lot of ears
listening around on 10m. Best of luck.
