I once owned a TR-9130. The power amplifier module became kaput and was
obsolete so unable to obtain replacement. I figured the driver stage was
capable of supplying about 5 watts, so I removed faulty module (unsolder
5 connections to PCB, remove 2 screws) and soldered short piece (5cm) of
coax between PCB In/Out termination points. These are both 50 ohm points
so should be good match.
This mod was successful for FM at the 5 watt level. I cannot recall if
SSB operation was OK, but that mode didn't interest me anyway. Hope this
has been helpful.
