I have had another look at Google Earth and the pictures of Albany are
even older than the four months I mentioned in a previous bulletin. It may
be difficult to date pictures in old established regions where there is
little change but in cities like Albany and Bunbury there is so much
development continuously that pictures very quickly become out of date.
Albany's population has doubled and more in 25 years. Bunbury likewise
(present pop. 30 000 - predicted in 30 years 100 000 the fastest growing
areas in Australia they told us in the news this week.).

In Albany a new Target complex was opened over a year ago. On the Google
picture the site is just a patch of sand. Go north along the Highway from
the town centre and you will see it.Similarly two years ago a very long
footbridge over the Princess Royal Drive on the harbour front was
commenced, completed last year and opened to traffic recently. There is no
sign of any activity on the site in the Google pictures and no bridge. Not
even a start to the project. That means they are at least a year out of
date.

Out on Chester Pass Road in Milpara is the new Centro Shopping Complex
opened about a year ago. On GE it is a patch of sand with the parking
area shown as gravel still, and cranes working on a new building on the
site. That picture is well over one year old. Worse is to come. Next to
the Centro patch of dirt with partly built buildings, cranes etc, is a
large patch of bare sand. There has been a service station there
(Woolworths) for the past two years. It has not even been commenced in the
Google pictures.Only the earthworks are visible.

Now who can quote Google to support any argument? The pictures of my part
of the country at least are out of date.Do others find a similar
situation? If you are in an old established area where there is little
change it may be difficult to do so. Here it is very easy.
