Hi Terry and all,

Change of subject as not to be a thread hijack... old (telephone) set.
(;->) Yup, not the overzealous cranking but the crappy magnets made
magneto replacement mandatory on a regular basis. Crummy audio may be
attributed to the harsh environment of the mines I believe, other dry
line local battery phones sounded, well, passable as far as phones went
back then. The railroads used them extensively to communicate between
sispatchers, tower (box) operators and at every siding there was a track
side phone up into the 1960s when radio finally took over entirely.
That's how I got a pair I used as an intercom, saved them from the scrap
yard. As an aside I saved a bunch of telegraph sets too including
repeaters but alas, things have a bad habit of disappearing over the
years. (:-<) Antiques are like old soldiers, they never die, just fade
away.

Are we the last of a dieing breed? Will our bones end up in a museum
between the Atwater Kent model 40 and the Ford model T? Now go watch Jack
Palance in Last Of The Dinosaurs, video doesn't travel well on packet.
