Hi Filippo and all,

Speaking of hum bucking, sure would be nice if we could get those wild
horses and bulls at the rodeo to carry a tune.

Really bad jokes aside you're quite welcome, any worthwhile information I
may have is freely offered in return for what was offered me. As for sets
ca. 1950 no special consideration was given, power supplies were
adequate and pickup in the audio section wasn't a problem being the
stages didn't need much gain. Sensitive, high gain amps were another
matter but we're talking vintage radios here and recording/broadcast is
another topic altogether. Anyway, those big speakers in big wooden
cabinets sure did sound great considering the limitations of AM broadcast
BUT today's hi-fi speaker designs are much older than many people think.
They were WAY ahead of their time and time just never caught up, funny
how today's digital recordings played through advanced solid state amps
come out the mouths of dinosaurs.
