Hi John and all,

Correct, the hum bucking coil was on the "outer limb" of the energizing
coil or in other words at the very rear of the magnet assembly. There
seems to be come question as to how it's current was derived so unless I
forget I just may be able to dig up a tech or two familiar with
restoration of vintage radios.

Now fellers, let's not confuse the "hum dinger" which came along much
later. If we're going to discuss different ways of "bucking" hum out of
an amplifier it helps to keep them in separate paragraphs as not to
confuse one with another.
