Hi Ray, Andy and all,
You reminded me of my childhood days and my introduction to the radio
hobby... naturally. I remember my mother's Victrola table top record
player radio combo among others in the family, I liked what I heard so I
went scrounging behind the radio & TV shop downtown and found a gold
mine. Those B&W TV consoles often had radios with shortwave bands and the
chassis sitting on my desk didn't look TOO bad, a wire strung up in the
trees served rather well. Naturally the 300V B+ gave me my introduction
to electricity <ouch> and it was all downhill from there... to here.
I'll go you one better, if an 8" PM speaker sounded good a 12"
"electrodynamic" speaker in a floor standing cabinet driven by P-P 6V6s
sounded better. (;->) In the words of Bob Hopeless, thanks for the
memories...
