As for that American dish. I doubt whether my mum's apple pie tsted any
different from Mom's apple pie, she did often add thubarb to it to give a
different flavour but I digress.

I have never been to the USA and probably never will but i have eaten
American dishes. I don't mean burgers, frankfurters,Big Macs and other junk
food but such things as Tex Mex, which may or may not taste likr that in
Texas. In fact I once went into a 'Tex Mex' restaurant in Belgium where it
wasn't even spicy. The place was still packed.

The various dishes from New orleaqns do appeal to me but again, they vary.

My lunch was cod and CHIPS fried in oil, as I'm sure you realised.

Corned beef, is beef cured in salt then canned and exported from Argentina
usually under the mname Fray Bentos.

My father used to kill a pig, chop it up and, after rubbing saltpetre in
it, hang it in the cellar where it lasted for months. It didn't taste of
salt either. This came from the time before fridges.

CORNWALL is from the Cornish language, now almost extinct, I think it
means roughly 'home' a bit like the Welsh Cymru, pron: Koomree, and the
northern English county called Cumbria.

Just in case of confusion; Britain geographically, refers to the two large
islands and a dozen small ones, some half way to Norway with a dialect
close to Norwegian and some closer to France where they speak English and
french.

We just use the terms UK and GBR as the fancy takes us. If you want to
get an idea of where I live and my upbringing, try to imagine say New York
State having a different language and a different dollar which might not
be accepted in your local shops and you are geting close to it..

As those annoying Aussies keep telling you and the late 'EBT, "You don't
live here so you can't know what itis like."
