Hi,
I run an ethernet home network that links all the various thing together.

Running the packet (DOS) computers into a 10/100 router made the transfers
(BPQ-Ether) very slow and jerky.

BPQ-Ether is probably only running at 1 megabits/sec or slower and the
ethernet cards in the packet (DOS) computers are probably not capable of
much more than that.

Installing an Ethernet 10 Base-T mini hub for the DOS machines to go into
first, really speeded things up.

A case of slow things down to make them run faster !!
