Hi Ken.
You must be a little more specific about what happens and what does not
happen when you are trying to do a forward between the two bbs'es.
From your descripion I have figured out this:
GB7COW (Your bbs, WinFBB32) F4BWT (Laurests bbs, LinFBB 7.04)
Connect initiated to F4BWT Connect OK
Forward initated ---Nothing happens---
Error messages
Time out disconnect
If this is the case, then it isn't LinFBB forward.sys that are wrong.
forward.sys handles ONLY outgoing forward attempts.
It is a connect script to allow automatic connections to another bbs,
and it tells FBB what type of messages to send to the other bbs.
Can your bbs do forward to other bbs'es?
Does your bbs respond ok to forward initiated from other bbs'es?
Can users connect to your bbs and send/read messages?
If so, then your bbs is probably correct setup.
Same questions must be asked about F4BWT bbs.
There are a lot of files that can cause errors in LinFBB.
Example of files:
Startup script for the ax25-deamon and the files that configures ax25,
such as /etc/ax25/axports, /etc/ax25/ax25d.conf, ...
No errors is given in LinFBB if there is an error in ax25 setup.
Only symptom is that no ax25 traffic will work.
LinFBB files that can be in error:
/etc/ax25/fbb/port.sys (Often wrong. Misunderstanding of the syntax)
/etc/ax25/fbb.conf (Global config file. Same as INIT.SRV in DosFBB/WinFBB)
/etc/ax25/fbb/forward.sys (outgoing forward)
/etc/ax25/fbb/bbs.sys (list of bbs'es)
/etc/ax25/fbb/reject.sys (list of rejected mails...)
User setup for the users/bbs'es.
NB! Linux path /etc/ can also be /usr/local/etc/ depending of what
distribution of Linux that are used.
A good thing to do is to join the XFBB mailing list on the internet and
ask questions there. You have a good chance that there are others that
has, or have had, the same problems as you might have.
