information.

**** SPECIAL NOTE FROM EDITOR (OPDX Hits 1000!). It is hard to believe
that I have written 1000 bulletins since 1991. It is even harder to
believe that the bulletin went out almost 20 years ago and OPDX's
20th anniversary will be on March 11th. Many changes have happened
since the first bulletin (distribution, the number of subscribers,
format and size). The bulletin was originally written for a small
group of PacketClusters between Ohio and Pennsylvania, and an online
phone BBS (called BARF80) which then expanded to an InterNet mailing
list. There is no real way to know now how many people read the OPDX
because it is distributed via 9 mailing lists (which includes the
OPDX Subscribers Mailing List - currently having over 3200 subscribers
and provided by Dave/WB8APD, via HAMNET.org), 3 UseNet groups, the
Official OPDX Web Page (HTML version provided by John/K8YSE) and
several other Web pages that post the bulletin. The bulletin itself
has grown from about 75-100 lines each week to over 500-600+ lines.
The main purpose of the bulletin was to help individuals achieve their
DXCC, but now has expanded to achieve/work towards other awards and
special interests. The bulletin's information is provided by many
individuals, searches on the Web and other dedicated shared sources,
usually listed at the top of bulletin each week. If not for them,
there would not be a bulletin. I also must not forget my wife Linda,
OPDX's chief proof-reader/non-ham/LD teacher. As my wife continually
keeps asking me each week, "Why do you do it for FREE?", the answer
is -- For the love of the hobby and to help others work DX.....

4A, REVILLAGIGEDO (Update). By the time you read this, the 4A4A team
should be in Mexico's Manzanillo's port, on the Pacific Ocean coast,
and is expected to take a 2 day trip by boat to the Revillagigedo Island
group on March 1st. The 4A4A team should be on the air March 3rd from
Socorro Island (NA-030) until March 20th. They will have 3 stations
running simultaneously on CW, SSB and RTTY, as conditions permits. QSL
via EB7DX direct. All QSOs will be confirmed via LoTW automatically.
The DXpedition's Web site is: http://www.revillagigedo2011.com

5V, TOGO. Franco, I1FQH, is once again active as 5V7DX from Kpalime
Village in central Togo until March 4th. Activity will will be on 20-10
meters using a Spiderbeam and on 40-30 meters using a homebrew vertical.
His rig will be an ICOM 7000 w/KL500 solid state amplifier. He was heard
this past weekend very active on 30 meters CW. QSL via LoTW (preferred)
or via his home callsign, direct (w/SASE) or by the Bureau. The log will
be available here (porbably after his return) at:
               http://dx.qsl.net/cgi-bin/logform.cgi?5v7dx
Franco has pictures and video on his YouTube channel from his last visit
and probably will put more on there after his return home at:
                       http://www.youtube.com/user/i1fqh

7P8, LESOTHO. Peter, EI7CC, will be active as 7P8PB from his brother-in-
law's station (7P8CC/EI8CC) in Maseru between March 9-23rd. Activity will
be limited because he will be on a family holiday and will operate when
circumstances permit. QSL via EI7CC, by the Bureau or direct. Logs will
be uploaded to LoTW immediately upon his return to Ireland. If possible,
Peter may try to upload them while in Lesotho.

7P, LESOTHO (Update). Two members of the Texas DX Society, Frosty/K5LBU
(7P8CF) and Wayne/W5KDJ (7P8KDJ), will be active from the "Trading Post
Lodge" in Roma between March 11-20th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters
using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. They plan to have 2 full time stations on
the air for the entire period using a Tennadyne T6 at about 40 feet, a
R7 vertical along with a Tennadyne TD-160 which is a folded Dipole that
is 126 feet overall in length. QSL 7P8CF via K5LBU, direct or LoTW. QSL
7P8KDJ via W5KDJ, only direct with SASE, LoTW and eQSL (No Bureau cards
please). Visit their Web page at: http://www.tdxs.net/lesotho2011.html
A log search Web page will be available after their return.

7Q, MALAWI. QSL Manager Allan, G0IAS, informs OPDX that he dropped Harry,
7Q7HB (G0JMU), at the airport for another trip to 7Q-land this past week.
Length of stay is not known at this time,... possibly TWO MONTHS minimum.
Harry will be busy the first week there, but after that he will try to be
active as often as possible. Activity will probably be on the Digital
modes and CW. QSL as usual is ONLY DIRECT to G0IAS with sufficient funds
for return cards (After April 1st, 1 USD is no longer sufficient postage
for ANY destination -- UK postage has increased again). NO BUREAU cards.
NO eQSLs. Just old fashioned paper cards DIRECT! Allan states, "SORRY NO
RETURN POSTAGE = NO CARD."

9L, SIERRA LEON (Update). Once again in close cooporation between the
DAGOE Foundation, Mercy Ships and 4 Dutch radio amateurs, planning is
being done for a DXpedition to Sierra Leone. The Team will stay in Sierra
Leone between March 28th and April 18th . The location will be in the
area of the capital Freetown. This DXpedition was originally planned
two weeks earlier but their cargo container got delayed and because of
that they lost that time-window. The team will use the callsign 9L5MS.
Operators mentioned are: Arie/PA3A (CW/SSB), Bas/PD0CAV (SSB/RTTY),
Ad/PA8AD (CW/SSB), Dickson/EL2DT and Arie/PA3AN (SSB/RTTY). Activity
will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. The equipment consists
of 3 transceivers and linears. The antennas are verticals for 160-30m
and beams for 20-6m. For 160m, 80m, 40m and 30m extra receiving antennas
will be used to improve station receive capability. They will have a
160/80m receive 4-square and 2 DHDL's for 30/40m. They will take special
care to listen for remote locations and small stations. Goal of the team
is to work as many different stations as possible and to be open for the
smaller stations ("little pistols"). As an experiment, the team will also
try to work 6m EME contacts using JT65 and a 5-element beam between March
16-20th, when the moon is in a good position. The Team is supported by
Mercy Ships crew members and staff. The team set the following goals and
will be able to reach these goals with help of the radio amateur community
worldwide:
1.Activate the DXCC-entity Sierra Leone on the HF bands
2.Provide support for a Mercy Ships Charity Project
3.Raise funds for the Mercy Ships Charity Project
All donations and surplus from the QSL will be transferred to the Mercy
Ships Charity Project. QSL via PA3AWW, by the Bureau or direct (see info
on the Web page). Also, QSLs can be requested with a donation via the OQSL
request service on the Web page. For more details and updates, visit their

DAYTON HAMVENTION NEWS (Contest Dinner Speaker Announced). Tim, K3LR,
Dayton Contest Dinner Chairman, reports (edited): "North Coast Contesters
are proud to announce that Scott Redd, K0DQ, will be the featured speaker
during the 19th Annual Dayton Contest Dinner on Saturday, May 21, 2011,
at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Information about the dinner
is available at: http://contestdinner.com
An outstanding contest operator, K0DQ had an impressive Single-Operator/
All-Band effort last weekend in the ARRL International DX CW contest:
 http://lists.contesting.com/pipermail/3830/2011-February/218464.html
Scott was the featured speaker at the 2000 Dayton Contest Dinner which
was completely sold out. You can read more about K0DQ here:

DXCC NEWS (Awards Processing Update). The ARRL Awards-Blog page reports
the following: "We are nearly done with processing all the 2010 DXCC
applications. At this point we are reconciling hybrid applications and
determining final disposition of applications with problems. It will
take us about one more week to finish these tasks, at which time we will
shut down the DXCC system so that the data for 2010 (Annual Listings and
Honor Roll listings) can be tabulated.
After we have the 2010 data, we will work with IT staff to incorporate
the newest DXCC entities into LoTW and call for LoTW certificate requests
from the PJ operations.
VUCC paper applications from 2010 and the first few weeks of 2011 have
been entered into the VUCC system, but not processed further. Those who
submitted those applications, and have accounts in LoTW, can see that
data inside their accounts. Link requests for VUCC have been processed
where it was possible without manual intervention. There are approximately
60 link requests that will require further work at HQ.
DXCC and VUCC fees are being evaluated. If the fees are changed (they
will not be raised), the new rates will be applied to any applications
received in 2011."

IO4, ITALY (Special Event). Look for special event station IO4UI to be
active between March 1st and September 30th. Activity is to celebrate
the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. All of QSOs will be
confirmed automatically via the Bureau. More details are available on

A delay on their station setup or even an extended operating
stay may happen due to sea conditions (50 mile crossing to
the island). QSL via the RSGB Bureau. For updates and details,
