*** EDITOR'S STATUS: First I want to thank the many who sent get well
wishes last week. This week was a much better week than last week.
I was lucky to only spend two days in the hospital because of the
blood clot. However, they did sent me home with a package of Lovenox
(blood thinner) to inject into my belly twice a day and Coumadin
(also a blood thinner). The good news is I am off the Lovenox as
of Wednesday last week. I am still on crutches, but can put a little
weight on my right leg (just on my toes to balance). I am expected
to go to REHAB for the knee later in the week. Should be interesting
instead of sitting around.... 73 de Tedd KB8NW

CQ COMMUNICATIONS, INC. PRESS RELEASE (CQ Facebook "Fans" Top 3500 Mark -
Majority Under Age 45). Richard Moseson/W2VU, Editor of CQ Amateur Radio,
reports on July 30th: "More than 3,500 Facebook users have signed up as
'fans' of CQ magazine on the popular internet social networking site. Plus,
they represent a considerably younger group of ham radio operators than
organized ham radio has been reaching through traditional means. 'According
to Facebook's own demographics, the majority of CQ's fans on the site are
age 45 or younger,' according to CQ Editor Rich Moseson, W2VU. 'This is
significant because it means we have opened up an important avenue of
communication with these younger hams by making the effort to go where
they 'hang out,' rather than expecting them to find us. This is essential
if we are going to make sure that younger hams are connected to the main-
stream of the hobby.'
Facebook statistics also show that CQ's fans are drawn from all over
the world, with more than 20 countries represented and members in the U.S.
accounting for only a little more than one-third of CQ's Facebook fans.
CQ Amateur Radio magazine < www.cq-amateur-radio.com> is the world's
leading independent amateur radio publication, with readers in over 100
countries. CQ sponsors more than a dozen amateur radio contests and
operating awards, including the world's most popular participation sport,
the CQ World Wide DX Contest, which has drawn more than 10,000 competitors
in each of the past two years. Thousands of additional stations partici-
pated but did not submit logs. CQ is a publication of CQ Communications, In=
c.,
which also publishes Popular Communications <www.popular-communications.com=
>,
CQ VHF <www.cq-vhf.com> and WorldRadio Online <www.worldradiomagazine.com>
magazines."

GJ4FDM QSL STATUS. Tom, GM4FDM, reports: "The good news is that the
GJ4FDM cards have arrived from the printer. The BAD news is that whilst
I was hill walking with my grandchildren 2 weeks ago, I fell off a
mountain and smashed my right leg. I had to be winched out by rescue
chopper. I have a plaster cast from toe to hip and am pretty well
immobile. I cannot negotiate the stairs/steps to my garage shack!
I have another hospital appointment this week - let's keep our fingers
crossed....... I missed the IOTA Contest and have been pretty well
confined to home/bed so am pretty downbeat at the moment, but I'll
get to it, as soon as I am physically able..... I have received a
few E-mails enquiring about 'not in LOTW log' or 'where's the cards'.
When I can, I will answer all the queries."
QSL CORRECTION/TYPO. QSL A43MI from Masirah Island during the 2010

J88CFQ QSL STATUS. David, EB7AEY, reports that QSLs should be received
during the past week from the printer, and he expects that cards will
be answered next week.
TS8P QSL STATUS. Fred, IK7JWX, states that he has begun sending QSLs
out for this operation.
