DXLook Adds a New Antenna View: How Well is Your Antenna Actually
Working?
November 2, 2026

DXLOOK.COM, Nov. 2, 2026. DXLook now offers a practical way to
answer if your antenna is actually any good using real-world
reception reports, no test gear needed.
The new Antenna view (Maps -> Antenna using the compass button)
takes your callsign, finds nearby stations, and compares how your
signal performs against theirs at the same receiving stations.

How it works
Receivers around the world continuously report what they hear to
networks such as WSPRnet and PSK Reporter. When the same receiver
hears both you and a station within 300 km at roughly the same
time, variables like local noise and propagation are shared,
making comparisons meaningful.
DXLook uses the median result across many nearby stations so one
strong/weak neighbour doesn't distort the picture.
- WSPR: comparisons use the same 2-minute slot and 1-7 days of
data. Transmit power is normalized.
- FT8/FT4: As PSK Reporter omits transmit power, DXLook
calculates each neighbour's typical difference relative to your
station and removes that baseline to show a relative pattern.

What you see
Results are broken down by:
- Direction (30-degree sectors)
- Distance range
- 3-hour UTC time windows
Green arcs indicate better performance than reference stations;
red arcs indicate weaker performance. A companion table explains
results and gives rule-based observations (e.g., suggesting
radial system checks if consistently weak beyond 6000 km).

What makes it different
- Chooses reference stations within 300 km automatically (median
combined).
- Analyzes FT8/FT4 without knowing transmit power by removing
signal offsets.
- Direction, distance, and time are analyzed together.
Results are refreshed every 30 minutes.
