8Q     - Bodo, DL3OCH will be active as 8Q7QX  from  the  Maldives  (AS-013)
         from 21 March to 4 April. He plans to operate mainly  CW  on  40-12
         metres, with some activity on 80m, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via  DL3OCH,
         direct or bureau and LoTW. Bodo will also operate  EME  along  with
         8Q7QQ (HB9QQ), 8Q7RQ (HB9CRQ) and 8Q7HP  (DL2NUD).  Information  on

9A     - Franjo, 9A2MF/p and Emir, 9A6AA/p will be active from  Nature  Park
         Papuk on 20 March. They will operate  on  40  and  20  metres  SSB.

A5     - Steve, W7VOA plans to be active as A52SW from Thimpu,  Bhutan  from
         about 23 April until 1 May at least. He will operate CW and SSB  on
         80-10 metres with 100  watts  and  a  full-length.  It  will  be  a
         business trip and Steve will  be  active  mainly  on  weekends  and
         during his evening weekday hours.  QSL  via  K2AU  and  LoTW.  [TNX

A7     - Special event station A71RCAR will be active on 4-6 April  for  the
         2010 Regional Conference on Amateur Radio  (RCAR),  hosted  by  the
         Qatar  Amateur  Radio  Society  (QARS)  in  cooperation  with   the

BY     - Nicola, I0SNY  reports  he  will  be  active  as  BY1DX/I0SNY  from
         Beijing between 25 April and 16 May. He will focus  on  40  and  17

CT8    - SV1GRM, SV1HER and CT1GFK  will  be  active  as  CQ8SV  from  Corvo
         Island (EU-089), Azores on 20-27 July, IOTA Contest  included.  QSL

CT9    - Look for Helmut,  CT9/DF7ZS  (QSL  via  home  call)  to  be  active
         holiday style from Madeira (AF-014) on 24-31 March with a focus  on
         30, 17 and 12 metres. He will participate in  the  CQ  WW  WPX  SSB

EI     - Stan, EI6DX and Mike, UA1OMX will be  active  as  EJ6DX  from  Inis
         Mor, Aran Islands (EU-006) on 26-28 March, including  an  entry  in
         the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest (Multi-Single). QSL  via  RX3RC.  Further

F      - Alain, F6BFH and Serge,  F6AUS  will  be  active  as  TO5SM/p  from
         Tintamarre Island (NA-199), Saint Martin on 21  March.  The  expect
         to be QRV from 12 to 20 UTC on 20 and 17 metres  CW  and  SSB.  QSL

FP     - Paul, K9OT and Peg, KB9LIE (hamradio.pnpfarms.com) will  be  active
         as  FP/homecall  from  Miquelon  Island  (NA-032)  on  5-14   July,
         including two single-operator entries in the IARU HF  Championship.
         They will operate CW and SSB 80-10 metres with possibility of  160m
         and 6m if conditions are  good.  QSL  via  home  calls,  direct  or

GM     - MM0DGR/p  will  operate  BPSK63,  CW,  and  SSB  from  Caerlaverock
         National Nature Reserve  on  20  March.  QSL  via  MM0DFV.  Further

GW     - Members of the Strumble Head DX and Contest Group  (www.mc0shl.com)
         will be activating the club call signs (MW9W and MC0SHL)  on  25-30
         March, including single band entries in the  CQ  WPX  SSB  Contest.
         Outside the WPX event they will also operate RTTY on various  bands
         including 30m. QSLs via M0URX and LoTW.
HH     - Operators Jan, K4QD and Don, AF4Z will be QRV as HH4/homecall  from
         the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission from 22  March  to  2  April.
         They will operate 160-10 metres CW, SSB and RTTY as  time  permits.
         They will also participate in the CQWW WPX SSB  Contest.  They  are
         working with HH2JR and the Radio Club of Haiti  in  an  attempt  to
         again obtain  the  special  4V4JR  call  used  last  year  for  the

I      - IT9ATF, IT9NPR, IT9PPG and IT9WDC  will  be  active  as  IF9A  from
         Favignana Island (EU-054) on 26-28 March. Their main focus will  be

JD_oga -  Brian/KG8CO  (JD1BNJ),  Stan/AC8W  (JD1BNK),  Ted/K8AQM  (JD1BNM),
         Kirk/JF3MYU (JD1BNN) and Steve/K8KQY (JD1BNQ) will be  active  from
         Chichijima (AS-031), Ogasawara between 28 March and 12 April.  They
         will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on  160-10  metres.  QSL  JD1BNN  via
         JD1BNN (bureau) or JF3MYU (direct),  others  via  K8AQM  direct  or

KH0    - After upgrading  his  KH0UA  license  to  Amateur  Extra  Class  in
         December 2009, nine-year-old Yoshiki, JF1UCV  will  participate  in
         this year's CQ WW WPX SSB Contest as  a  SOAB  Rookie  entrant.  He
         will operate from the AH0BT  shack  on  Saipan  (OC-086).  QSL  via

KH0    - Kuro, JH0MGJ will be  active  as  AL5A/WH0  from  Saipan  on  24-26
         April. He plans to operate CW, SSB  and  possibly  other  modes  on

OX     - Reid, N0RC says he will be active in spare time as either OX3RC  or
         OX3/N0RC from Thule, Greenland (NA-018) from 22 March to 23  April,
         and again on 1-27 May. He is going to Thule with  NASA's  Operation
         Ice Bridge. QSL via home call.
OZ     - Look for Jakob, OZ7AEI/p to be active from Stavrby Skov  lighthouse
         on Fyn Island (EU-172) on 26 March. He expects to be QRV on 20  and
         40 metres starting around 10 UTC. [TNX OZ7AEI]
P4     - Stefan, DK1MM will be active as P4/DK1MM from Aruba  (SA-036)  from
         19 March to 1 April, including an  entry  in  the  CQ  WW  WPX  SSB
         Contest as P41M. QSL for both callsigns via DK1MM. [TNX NG3K]
PJ5    - Joe, W8GEX and  his  co-leader,  Joe  AA4NN  have  announced  their
         intention  of  operating  from  St.  Eustatius  this   autumn    in
         anticipation of the dissolution of the Netherland's  Antilles.  The
         plans call for a 10-day operation with a international crew and  at
         least four stations 24/7. [TNX W8GEX]
S7     - Gav, GM0GAV and Rob, GM3YTS will  be  active  as  S79GM  from  Mahe
         (AF-024), Seychelles from 21 March to 1 April.  They  will  operate
         on all bands with a focus on LF, mainly CW with some RTTY.  As  for
         40 metres, "operation in S7 is only allowed on  7050  to  7100Khz",
         they say. So they will "be operating CW around  7050,  with  a  QSX
         published  at  the  start  of  the  operation"  on    their    blog
         (s79gm.blogspot.com). QSL via GM4FDM and LoTW. A  log  search  will

T32    - After diverting to Fanning Island to pick up passengers,  M/V  Kwai
         is expected to arrive at Christmas Island around 2 UTC on 19  March
         and to leave within 24 hours from that. While waiting for the  ship
         to arrive, the Southern Line Islands team  checkd  their  equipment
         and operated as T32AJ (QSL via K9AJ). They estimate to be QRV  from
         the first IOTA new one on 24 or 25 March  -  it  is  likely  to  be
         either Malden (T32MI, OC-279) or Starbuck (T32SI,  OC-280).  Please
         note that since this is primarily an IOTA activity,  the  operators
         "will  be  concentrating  on  providing  a  contact  with  as  many
         different stations as possible irrespective of band or mode".  They
         will operate SSB and CW on 80-10  metres,  on  whichever  band  "is
         providing the best propagation conditions at  the  time".  QSL  via

TA     - Celebrating Istanbul 2010  European  Capital  of  Culture,  the  TC
         Special Wireless Activity Team will operate special  event  station
         TC2010PSG  on  20-22  March.  Information  on  the  event  and  the

UR     - Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Ukrainian Contest  Club  will
         operate as EM20UCC until 1 July. QSL via UT7UJ. [TNX UY5ZZ]
V7     - Neil, V73NS (WD8CRT) will be going  QRT  from  Kwajalein  (OC-028),
         Marshall Islands in late March. His next work assignment will  take
         him to Afghanistan, starting around late April or  early  May.  The

VP5    - Dave, W5CW will be active as VP5/W5CW from 23  March  to  6  April,
         including an entry in the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest  as  VP50V.  Before
         and after the contest he will operate CW and SSB on  160-6  metres,
         with a focus on 30, 17 and 12 metres. QSL to P.O.  Box  88,  Morris

W      - Look for Bill, K9RR/4 and Rick, K8GI/4 to be active from St  George
         Island (NA-085), from approximately 19  UTC  on  19  March  through
         about 16 UTC on the 21st. The  schedule  may  be  modified  due  to
         weather as this will be an outdoor operation. Two stations  are  to
         be in operation simultaneously on 20 March. Bill and Rick  plan  to
         operate SSB (7160, 14260, 18128 and 21260  kHz),  CW  (14040  kHz),
         RTTY (10143 kHz) and PSK63 (18102  kHz),  plus  some  FM  satellite
         activity (from grid EL79) as time  permits.  QSL  via  home  calls.

W      - W4MY and AA4XX will be  active  from  Tangier  Island  (NA-083)  on
         20-21 March during the Virginia QSO Party. QSL via W4MY, direct  or

W      - David, K2DBK will be active in his spare time as K2DBK/4 from  Lido
         Key (NA-034) on 22-24 March. He will operate SSB  only  on  20  and

W      - Look for Dave,  AC0QG/5  to  be  active  from  South  Padre  Island

         March to 6 April. He plans to be QRV on 80-10  metres.  QSL  direct

3C0C DELAYED ---> The DXpedition to Annobon Island  [425DXN  978]  has  been
postponed while the airstrip on the island  is  undergoing  repair  for  the
next two or three months. The team does not consider reaching the island  by
ship, because it is  "difficult,  slow  and  without  regularity".  Bookmark

9A POSTAL RATES ---> Tom, 9A2AA reports  that  Croatian  postal  rates  have
changed recently and mentions a few examples:
surface mail up to 50 gr to anywhere    7.10 Kn
air mail to Europe up to 20 gr          8.10 Kn
air mail to USA up to 20 gr            10.10 Kn
air mail to Japan up to 20 gr          10.30 Kn
air mail to South America up to 20 gr  10.50 Kn
The on-line calculator at www.posta.hr is being upgraded to reflect the  new
rates. Tom also says  that  1  USD  is  approximately  5.00  Kn,  1  EUR  is
approximately 7.30 Kn and that 1 IRC covers air mail postage up to 20  grams
to anywhere.

ANTARCTIC BEACON ---> The R1ANF permanent beacon has been  active  from  the
Russian  Antarctic  station  Bellinghausen  on  King  George  Island,  South
Shetlands since 8 March. The beacon consists of an  IC-706,  AT-180  antenna
tuner, a switching power supply, a PROCOM HF-5000  vertical  antenna  and  a
GPS synchronized controller. The  beacon  is  working  on  14101.0  kHz  and
transmits the following  message  every  full  minute:  "VVV  R1ANF  ANTBEAP
(carrier signal reduced similar to the  NCDXF  beacons,  starting  with  100
watts)  R1ANF  AR".  Another  beacon  is  ready    to    be    installed  at
Novolazarevskaya station and will be active on the same frequency using  the
callsign R1AND. They are part of the Antarctic Beacon Project  (ANTBEAP)  to
explore wave propagation in the Antarctic region. Reports should be sent  to

HELP  JUAN  FERNANDEZ  --->  Stan,  SQ8X  has  created  a   special  website
(help-juan-fernandez.org) under  the  patronage  of  Radio  Club  de  Chile.
"Dedicated to help islanders  of  Archipelago  Juan  Fernandez,  CE0Z",  the
website "is intended to inform people about what happened at the island  and
how to help  collect  funds  to  restore  the  island's  infrastructure  and
islanders' lives. We really hope this will help them as they have helped  so
many times numerous hams visiting the island". Radio Club de Chile  will  be
100% responsible for collecting and transferring funds to the islanders.
