complete the maintenance at the Lighthouse was downloaded from M/V

The Union de Radioaficionados Españoles, URE, (The Spanish Amateur Radio
League) is proud to announce a project in East Timor to take place in
June 2008. URE´s Radiosolidarity Department will organize an Amateur
Radio DXpedition, combined with activities to promote Amateur Radio
including the donation and setting up of a complete amateur radio
station at the University of Dili. Operators include Angel/EA1QF
(CW/Digital), Txema/EA5BWR (CW/SSB/Digital), Eugene/EA4KA (CW),
Pere/EA3CUU (CW), Jose/CT1ERC (SSB/Digital) and Jose/EA4DB
(CW/SSB/Digital) will be active from Dili, Timor Leste (OC-148, WLOTA
LH-0019) for two weeks in June. They plan to operate CW, SSB and other
modes using two stations, and to pay special attention to 6 meters. The
call sign is not known at the moment - it might be a special call
(hopefully 4W6R), or the call sign of the University (4W6UTL) or the
call sign of one of the operators (4W6ERC). QSLs will be via EA4URE,
direct (EA4URE, P.O. Box 220, 28080 Madrid - SPAIN) or by the bureau.

International Marconi Day 2008
The 21st International Marconi Day event takes place on the 26th of
April next.
Among the stations taking part will be EI0MAR, from the Vintage Radio
Museum, located in the Martello tower in Howth, Ireland.
An experimental Marconi wireless telegraphy station was set up at the
same location in 1905. The HMS Monarch, with wireless telegraphy
equipment aboard, transmitted from various locations in the Irish Sea
each time relaying its distance from the receiving station in Howth
where signal strengths were logged.
Though not a contest, EI0MAR, as an award station will be eagerly sought
for QSO’s during the event. Visitors are invited to come along and
operate on the day.
The EI0MAR website is: ei5em.110mb.com/ei0mar.html. If you follow links
from that page to the museum page, you can download a free booklet that
chronicles the history of the Martello tower and gives greater details
of the 1905 Marconi tests.
The International Marconi Day event is organised by the Cornish Radio
Amateur Club. Further details and a list of participating award stations
is available at the club's web site: www.gb4imd.org.uk. [Southgate ARC]
