4C12, MEXICO (Special Event/Satellite Op). Members of the Radio Club
Queretaro announce to look for special event station 4C12SG to be active
between July 20-27th. Activity is to celebrate the 12th anniversary of
the operation from the "Sierra Gorda Queretana". Operations will take
place from "Sotano del Barro", one of the deepest places in the world.
Also, look for 4C12SG to be active on the satellites (Grid EL01), and
if conditions permit, also on 6 meters. QSL  via XE1RCQ. Log will be
uploaded to LoTW after the event.

4W, TIMOR-LESTE. AL, CT1GPQ, will be active from here between August 3rd
and October 3rd. Currently CT1GPQ doesn't know what his callsign will be,
but his license issues are being arranged. Activity will be on 40/30/20/17
meters SSB, RTTY and preferably CW. His station setup will be an Icom
IC-706 MK2g, a dipole for 40 and 30 meters and square loops for 20 and
17 meters. Pilot station and QSL Manager is Toze, CT1GFK. The pilot
station will be in daily contact with CT1GPQ. Any questions or suggestions

is "NOT A DXpedition"! CT1GPQ will be in Timor-Leste with a Medical Team
and radio operations will take place only during his spare time.

9G, GHANA. Operators Alfeo/I1HJT, Silvano/I2YSB, Carlo/IK1AOD, Vinicio/
IK2CIO, Angelo/IK2CKR, Marcello/IK2DIA, Stefano/IK2HKT, and Donato/IZ2CHO
will be active from Busua Beach in the Ghana Western Region between
November 13-27th. Their activity will also include an IOTA trip to Abokwa
Island (AF-084). They will use two different callsigns for their activities.
Operations on the mainland will use the callsign 9G5TT, while operations
on AF-084 will use 9G5XX. Activity will be on all HF bands (80-10 meters)
and modes. Silvano/I2YSB informs OPDX that they do not have a licence for
160 meters, 60 meters and 6 meters. On AF-84 there will be one station on
20 meters only. The time of the operation on the island will be on a day to
day bases, and will be depended on the sea condition and weather forecast.

BX5, TAIWAN (AS-020 - RARE CONTEST IOTA). Jimmy, BX5AA, will be active
during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-
Power entry. QSL via BX5AA.

C3, ANDORRA. Vini, IK2CIO, will be active as C31/IK2CIO between August
6-12th. Activity will be holiday style on 160-6 meters using CW and SSB.

CO8, CUBA. Raul, CO8ZZ, informs that he will be active during RSGB IOTA
Contest (July 25-26th) from the main island (NA-015, FL10mw) in the CW
only category. QSL via DK1WI.

CR2, AZORES (IOTA Contest/LH Op). Members of Algarves STAR DX Team (a
multi-national team) will activate Faial Island in the Azores using the
callsigns CR2F, CR2N and CR2W, between July 18-31st. Operators mentioned
are: CT1EEQ, CT1EGW, CT3FN/HB9CRV, CU8AS, DJ2VO and HB9CQL. Callsigns
will be used for:
    CR2F - For the Farol da Ribeirinha Lighthouse (WLOTA 1830) operation
           between July 18–24th and July 27-August 1st.
    CR2W - For the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th).
    Activity from Caldeira do Faial Natural Reserve
    CR2N - For the "Caldeira do Faial Natural Reserve" activity between

CR3, MADEIRA ISLANDS (IOTA/LH Op). A groups of CT1/CT3 operators (from
the Madeira Contest Team and G.I.R.A.) will be active as CR3D and CR3R
from Chao Islet in the Desertas Islands group (AF-046) between July
24-26th. Activity will be on the HF and VHF bands using CW, SSB and the
Digital modes. They will also be active in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July
25-26th). Operators mentioned are: Barros/CT3BD, Luis/CT3DL, Luis/CT3EE,

EM360, UKRAINE (Special Event). Members of Ternopil Amateur Radio Club
will use special callsign EM360B between August 14-18th, to mark the 360th

GJ, JERSEY. Members of the Bristol Contest Group will be active as GJ6YB
during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) from Jersey (EU-013, WLOTA
L-0818) as a Multi-Op/Island-DXpedition entry. Operators mentioned are:

IOTA NEWS..........................
   AS-060.  Members of the Korean Contest Club and possibly others will be
            active as D93I (and also their homecall/4) from Pigum Island
            (KDN H32) between July 25-27th. Operators mentioned are:
            Han/DS2GOO, Yang/DS4CDA, Ryou/DS4NYE, Rocky/HL1VAU and a few
            other guest OP's.. They will have two complete HF stations
            with a dozen of vertical antennas nearby saltwater. Continuous
            activity is planned on 80-10 meters using CW/SSB/Digital. If
            the propagation allows, they will try some 6m openings to
            various directions also. During the IOTA contest, they will
            operate as a Multi-Op/Island-Expedition entry as D93I. QSLs
            for D93I are via DS4NYE and all others via their homecall.

   EU-005.  Members of the SANDS Contest Group (M0SCG), based in Morecambe,
            Lancashire, will be active as G1T from Sunderland Point, near
            Lancaster during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a
            Multi-Single entry. Reference numbers are: WAB Square SD45
            and Grid LOC. IO84NB.

   EU-006.  Members of the South Dublin Radio Club and the City of Belfast
            Radio Amateur Society will travel to the Aran Islands off the
            coast of Galway hoping to build upon the successes of recent
            years, and be active as EJ0GI from Inis Oirr during the RSGB
            IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a Multi-Op/DXpedition/High-Power
            entry. Some team members may be active under their home
            callsigns outside of the contest between July 23-27th. QSL

   EU-006.  David, EJ3GKB, will be active from Inis Oirr, July 23-27th.
            Activity will be on 80-6 meters before and after the RSGB
            IOTA Contest. Look for updates and pictures via Twitter
            (DavidGi8SKN), depending on time and signal reception.

   EU-008.  Members of the Cockenzie and Port Seton Amateur Radio Club
            (CPSARC) will once again operate from the Isle of Tiree
            (IOSA NH04, WAB NM04), the most westernly part of Scotland's
            Inner Hebridean Islands, during the RSGB IOTA (Islands on
            the Air) Contest which runs from 1200z, July 25th to 1200z,
            July 26th, using the club's special contest callsign GM2T.
            Look for pre-contest activity by the members signing as
            MM0CPS/P. CPSARC heavily supports newcomers to their wonderful
            hobby and has a large number of newly licensed members who are
            actively encouraged to participate in their contest effort,
            whether experienced or not. This way not only does their
            hobby benefit from new operators, but contesting benefits as
            they invariably become bitten by the contest bug. This

   EU-011.  Members of the Cray Valley ARC will again be active on the
            Scilly Isles between July 23-28th, on all bands, using the
            callsign G3RCV/P. They will also be taking part in the IOTA
            contest next weekend.

   EU-031.  Operators Alessandro/IW8EHK, Alfredo/IY7NGM, Catello/IZ8LLW
            and Francesco/IZ8OFJ will be active as IC8/IW8EHK during the
            RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th). Other reference numbers:

   EU-036.  Chris, OE9ICI, will be active as LA/OE9ICI from Kvenver,
            Hitra Island (WW Loc. JP43EM), between now and August 1st.

   EU-048.  Jean-Marc, F5SGI, will be active from Belle Ile (DIFM AT-015,
            WLOTA 0872, Grid IN87) between now and July 31st. Activity
            will be on 80-6 meters using CW, and an entry in the RSGB
            IOTA Contest (July 25-26th). QSL via his home callsign, direct

   EU-059.  (UPDATE) Col, MM0NDX, will be active as GM5A and MM0NDX/P
            from St. Kilda (WAB NF19, SCOTIA D123, Grid Loc.  IO75RT),
            Scotland, between July 24-27th. This will be a family holiday-
            style operation from the campsite in Village Bay. St. Kilda
            is one of only two-dozen global locations to be awarded "World
            Heritage Status" for both natural and cultural significance.
            Col will participate in the 2009 RSGB IOTA Contest (July
            25-26th) as GM5A. Outside of the contest he will sign MM0NDX/P
            and possibly be active on 80 and 40 meters. QSL GM5A via

   EU-067.  Operators Cliff/SV1JG and George/SV1RP will be active as
            SX8M from Kyklades (Cyclades) Milos Island, Greece, during
            the RSGB IOTA Contest between July 24-27th. QSL via SV1JG,

   EU-075.  Steffen, DM3CW, will be active as J48AL from the Island of
            Aigina (GIOTA SAS-045, MIA MG-007, WLOTA L-4088) between
            July 21st and August 3rd. Activity will be holiday style
            and operating CW only using 100 watts into wire antennas.
            QSL via DM3CW, bureau preferred.

   EU-122.  Operators Sean/EI4GK, Pete/EI4GZB, Declan/EI9HQ, Pete/GI4VIV
            and Joe/EI7GY will once again be active from Rathlin Island
            as GI0MPG for this year's RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th).
            Operations will be from the Rathlin East Lighthouse (ARLHS
            NTI-011), the same QTH as last year. QSL direct or by the
            Bureau to GI0MPG.

   EU-124.  Members of the Barry Amateur Radio Society (BARS) will activate
            Flatholm Island again for five days this year between Thursday,
            July 23rd and Tuesday, July 28th. During the RSGB IOTA Contest
            (July 25-26th), they will use the callsign GW8K. They will use
            the callsign GB5FI for activity before and after the contest.

   EU-124.  (UPDATE) The Strumblehead DX and Contest group have now sealed
            the final permission to activate Ramsey Island (EU-124), off the
            West Wales coast, from the "Royal Society for the Protection of
            Birds" an organization who own the island. They will be active
            from 1800z, July 24th through to 1400z, July 27th taking in the
            IOTA contest. They will be active using the club call MC0SHL
            for the whole duration of the operation, and using MW9W in the
            contest. They will be on all bands from 80-10 meters SSB. There
            is also some 30 meters RTTY planned by G1VDP if the other guys
            allow him, with participation in the last 80m Club Championships
            DATA section. They will be operational using generators as
            power. Radios used will consist of 2 K3's and a Yaesu FT1000MP
            MkV and amplifiers. Antennas will consist of a Hexbeam, a windom
            and dipoles. Most of the activation is for the WAB award scheme
            as the square is semi rare and has not been activated for some
            time. They will be looking for JA and Asia during their mornings
            and evening on all bands. The team will be on from the farm for
            a few days before and after using the GB0WFF for the World Flora
            and Fauna award see http://www.wff44.com for award details,
            and using the MC0SHL club call and erecting a tower for Rob,
            MW0RLJ. The island will not only count for the WAB award but
            will also count for the WFF award. A special QSL card printed

   EU-125.  Operators Gabi/DF9TM, Frank/DL2SWW and Ric/DL2VFR will be
            active as OZ0FR from Romo Island (NS-001 for the Danish Islands
            Award) between July 23-27th, including the IOTA Contest (July
            25-26th). Activity will be high power on CW and SSB into a
            yagi antenna for 20-10 meters, a SteppIR vertical (BigIR) for
            40-10 meters and dipoles for 80 and 40 meters. This activity
            will also count for the World Flora and Fauna Award (WFF -
            for OZFF-004). QSL OZ0FR via DL2VFR (also via the DL Bureau,

   EU-135.  Anders, SM5EFX, will be active as SM5EFX/2 from Ledskar Island
            between now and July 31st. Activity will be on all HF bands
            and modes. He will also participate in the RSGB IOTA Contest
            (July 25-26th) using the special callsign SF2X. QSL both calls
            to SM5EFX, direct or by the Bureau.

   NA-057.  Ray, WQ7R, will be active as HQ9R from Roatan Island (Grid
            EK66) during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a
            Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. QSL via K5WW.

   NA-154.  Operators Dana/VE1VOX and Don/VE1AOE will be active as VC1W
            from Welsh Island (new CISA), August 22-25th. They plan to
            have two stations on the air and possibly more operators to
            join their operation as the date approaches. This is a remote
            island and weather may affect the actual dates. QSL Manager
            is VE3EXY.

   EU-171.  Operators Rene/DL2JRM and Netti/DO6XX will be active as
            OZ/homecall/p from Vendsyssel-Thy/Nordjylland (DIA NJ-001)
            between now and August 1st. Activity will include the RSGB
            IOTA Contest (July 25-26th). Operations will be on 80-10
            meters CW using 100 watts into a dipole/GP. QSL via their
            home callsigns, direct or by the Bureau.

   EU-174.  Tomas, HA0NAR, will once again be active as SX8R from Thassos
            Island (MIA MG-124, GIOTA NAS-037, WLOTA LH-4186, QRA KN20hs),
            Greece, July 22-31st. Activity will be on 80-6 meters using CW
            and SSB. He will also be an entry in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July
            25-26th). He will use 100 watts and monoband antennas (Inverted
            Vee for 80m, verticals on a Spider pole and fishing rods for
            the other bands). QSL via HA0NAR, by the Bureau or direct.

   EU-180.  A Ukrainian and Moldavian team will be active as homecall/p
            from Tuzla Island between July 23-27th. Activity will be on
            CW and SSB. Operators mentioned are US0KW, US0ZZ, UT2XQ,
            UT4ZG, UT7UT, UU0JM, UU1AZ, UU4JDD, UU4JMG, UY6IM, UT/ER1DA,
            UT/ER3DW, UT/ER3DX and UT/ER3ZZ. QSL via their home callsigns.
            They will the "Black Sea Contest Club" callsign UU7J/P during
            the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th). QSL via UU0JM.

   EU-181.  Operators Gabriele/LZ/IK3GES, Boyan/LZ1BJ/1 and Lyuben/LZ1ZC/1
            will be active from Sveta Anastasiya Island (WLOTA L-0035)
            between July 24-27th. They plan to use 100 watts into a 10
            element log-periodic on 20/17/15/12/10 meters. Some activity
            on 40/30/6 meters is also possible. QSL via the QSL Bureau to
            their home callsigns.

   NA-081.  Operators Ken/W8ND, Butch/N8CHS and Kelly/K8MCN will be active
            as W8ND/VE1 from Big Tancook island (CISA NS012, WW Loc. FN74WL,
            Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia), July 23-26th. Activity will
            include the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th). QSL via K8MCN,
            direct or by the Bureau.

   OC-148.  Arif, YC9MDX, will be on the air from Kupang, Timor Island
            (WLOTA 0019) during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th).
            Activity will be on 40/15/10 meters SSB only. QSL via B7DX,
            direct only (QRZ.com).

   SA-023.  Operators PY6AWV, PY6HD and PY6RT will be active as ZZ6Z between
            July 24-26th. Activity will include the RSGB IOTA Contest. Their
            operations will be on 80/40/20/17/15/10 meters SSB only. QSL
            direct or bureau to PY6HD or LoTW. No E-QSL.

   SA-023.  Operators Orlando/PT2OP and Marcelo/PY6KW will be active as
            PV6I between July 24-27th. Activity will include the RSGB IOTA
            Contest (July 25-26th). QSL via PT2OP.

LUNAR EVENT ON AO-51. On "July 20th, AMSAT-NA will mark the 40th anniversary
of the first manned lunar landing with a special event on AO-51. AO-51 will
transmit a message commemorating the event Monday, July 20th, during evening
passes in the U.S. and Europe. The message will be transmitted on the 435.300
MHz FM downlink and will contain a Robot 36 SSTV image as well as a voice
message.

be there through July 29th, using an Icom-706MKIIG into a TarHeel II
antenna or wire/dipole antenna.

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITY.......................
   The Old Barney ARC will be operating as N2OB from the Barnegat Lighthouse
   (USA-039) on Long Beach Island, NJ (IOTA NA-111), on August 1st from
   about 1300-2100z. There will be two stations set up with activity
   primarily on 20 and 40 meters SSB. QSL via N2OB.

   The Old Barney ARC <http://www.obarc.org> will be operating as W2T
   from the Tucker's Island Lighthouse (USA-911) in the Tuckerton Seaport
   <http://www.tuckertonseaport.org>, August 15-16th from about 1300-2100z
   each day. There will be two stations set up with activity primarily on

MJ0, JERSEY (EU-013). Mat, F5SHQ, will be active as MJ0ASP during the
RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power entry. QSL

OH0, ALAND ISLAND (EU-002). Operators Juha/OH6XX and Timo/OH6GLE will be
active as OH0Z during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) as a Multi-Op/

PACIFIC TOUR #1. Operators Claudia/K2LEO/PA3LEO and Andrea/IK1PMR are
currently planning a Pacific trip for November and December. Preliminary
planning includes DX activity from Western Samoa (5W), Tonga (A3) and
possibly Rarotonga in the South Cook Islands (E51). They are inviting
DXers (with or without DXpedition experience) to join their operations,
even for a single destination (A3 being the main DX stopover). If you

PACIFIC TOUR #2. Chris, DO7AG, will be flying to the South Pacific with
his family between November and January. He plans to be active as 5W1QX
from Western Samoa and A31CE from Tonga. Activity will only be on 40 and
20 meters (this is due to the type of license he has). Complete dates of
activation are to be determined. ADDED NOTE: Chris realizes that another
operation from A3 and 5W will be going on at the same time (see above),
and he hopes to meet Claudia and Andrea.

SU8, EGYPT (LH Activity). Operators Greiss/SU1GS, Mohamed/SU1AO and
Said/SU1SK received permission from the NTRA (Egyptian's National Telecom
Regulatory Authority) to use the callsign SU8LH during the first activity
from an Egyptian lighthouse on Ras El-Bar Island (Not IOTA), 250km north
of Cairo, between August 1-9th. Look for SU8LH to participate in the Inter-
national Lighthouse/LightShip Weekend (ILLW). Activity will be on CW and
SSB, 6 meters and the HF bands. They will be running 100 watts into

SV5, DODECANESE. Tom, OK2PTZ, will be active as SV5/OK6Y from Kos Island

TC21, TURKEY (Special Event).  Members of the Turkish group called SWAT
(Special Wireless Activity Team) will be active as TC21BSR from Istanbul
between July 14-20th, during the 21st Bosphorus Race. It is the only
event which starts from one continent (Asia) and ends at a different

members of the "Council of Europe Radio Amateur Club" (CERAC) will be
active as TP60CE to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the "Council of

V73, MARSHALL ISLANDS. JA operators Fuminor/JA2DSQ and Yuji/JH2BNL will
be active from Majuro (OC-029) between August 24-29th. JA2DSQ will be
signing as V73NF on the lower band using CW. JH2BNL will be signing as
either V7XX or V73J operating 80-10 meters using SSB and RTTY. QSL via

VK9N, NORFOLK ISLANDS. Just a reminder that the members of the Hellenic
Amateur Radio Association of Australia (HARAOA Group) will be active as
VK9NI between July 22-29th. The HARAOA Group plans to have 4-5 stations
on the air and plans to be active on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY.
They plan to take part in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 25-26th) during

VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND (OC-002). Operators Harry/DM5TI, Rene/DL2JRM and
Thomas/DL2RMC will be active from here between November 21st and December
5th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes.
They plan to use verticals and beams, and also be an entry in the CQWW

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. Curt, W3HQ, will be active as VP2V/W3HQ
from Virgin Gorda between December 4-16th. Activity will be CW only.
Bands will be mainly 160 and 10 meters on weekends, and 30/17/12 meters

VY1, CANADA (Yukon on 160 Meters!). Operators John/KL7JR, Claire/WL7MY
and KL7BO will be active as VY1RST during and after the ARRL November SS
Phone Contest from near Beaver Creek, Yukon, between November 20-26th.
Emphasis will be on 160/80 meters SSB (using a 160m Inverted L) with
a 2nd station on for 40-10 meters (vertical) SSB and PSK-31. QSL Manager

XV, VIETNAM (IOTA Op). Sigi, DL7DF, will lead a crew of operators to be
active from the Island of Phu Quoc (AS-128) between November 4-17th.
Their callsign has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be the
XV prefix. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW and SSB with
several stations on the air. One station will be exclusively dedicated
to RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV. Their equipment consists of 3 transceivers
(two K2 and one IC7000) with three kW linears into two 18m lowband
verticals, a 2 element vertical for 40m, a 2 element vertical for 30m,
two Spiderbeam for 20/17/15/12/10m, and some beverage antennas. Operators
mentioned are: Manfred/DK1BT, Wolf/DL4WK, Andy/DL5CW, Sigi/DL7DF and
Frank/DL7UFR. Pilot station for this DXpedition is Bernd, DF3CB. QSL
