BITS & PIECES -
FROM THE OFFICES OF ARCALA EXTREMES
ARCALA EXTREMES LAUNCHING CQWW CW TEAM
Snow and ice are present in the Far North at the home of OH8X, and preparations are underway to boost the signals globally, largely depending on a regular friend - Aurora Borealis. Pasi, OH2IW will be at the controls and running OH8X single-operator, all-band. Keep an eye on this station and observe its Northern sound. For more, see www.radioarcala.com.
The sister station CU2X will again be operated by Toni, OH2UA, following his smashing of the European SSB record by a wide margin. He is now determined to do the same on CW. This is from the new QTH, and you can read more at www.cu2a.com.
The second sister station TC4X in Asian Turkey will be activated by Martti, OH2BH, Pertti, OH2PM and Tefvik, TA1HZ. They are there to take the first steps for setting up a permanent station with more firepower while bringing a breath of old times to the game.
Adding to the lineup its X-rated signals will be the team's associated Eastern Aland Island super station signing OH0X, again mono-band, with Pekka, OH2TA at the helm.
Radio Arcala's propagation department, Ilkka, OH1WZ of Palos Verdes Sundancers fame will be in charge of the OH2BH station, mono-band, with his deep-space telescope to see whether the particles streaming down with the solar wind will pass Radio Arcala or hit it straight on the face.
And finally, representing the Arcala senior citizens department, Ville, OH2MM will be operating mono-band as CN2M as the guest of Jim, CN2R. This will be from Casablanca, Morocco.
Their ultimate categories are subject to a final decision when looking at the world on the starting grid minutes before the start of the race.

QSLing for the 2008 operation is happening as we speak. Additionally, all 2005 QSLs were sent to the bureau network some six months ago. All logs are open for QSLing.
We like to thank Bernd, DF3CB for setting up this log search for us. Our QSLing is done using his QSL management software.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TODAY, NOVEMBER,19, 2008, 10.00UTC
NEW DX SUMMIT TOOK OVER THE MOTHER OF ALL DX SUMMITS TODAY!
The Group at OH8X is honored to continue the services initiated by members of the OH2AQ Radio Club more than ten years ago. The original OH2AQ DX Summit was closed today at noon local time.
http://www.dxsummit.fi/
In the words of Wayne, N7NG, the President of Yasme Foundation, we capture the essence of this original innovation;
Yasme Foundation and the whole world of Amateur Radio congratulate Jukka Salomaa, OH2BUA and Antti Kantola, OH5TB for conceiving, operating and maintaining the DX Summit, the first widely-used Web-based spotting network portal. They created a tool that fundamentally changed the nature of HF operating, a true advancement of the radio art.
The New DX Summit is operated by Radio Arcala, OH8X, located in the Far North at the Arctic Circle, within the Aurora Belt, with a mission to encourage today's youth to make possible the impossible in the course of their own innovations through radio communication experience and related exciting theories.
Arcala Extremes is headquartered in Finland while operating in a European context. The message is global, and the experience is for us to share. Read about the Arcala mission and let your imagination fly to do your share among the young people and secure the continuation of this great passion that has enriched our lives and made the communication among people more effective and enjoyable. The New DX Summit and its future applications are targeted to be part of this vision.
Running the New DX Summit is supported by Yasme Foundation Inc.

EI - IRELAND
Irish Castles and Stately Homes on the Air.
Steve, EI5DD, has become coordinator for Irish Castles and Stately Homes on the Air. Basically this is an award scheme for working or activating Irish Castles and Stately Homes.
The award scheme will be launched on the 1st of January 2009.
A web site has been set up to show a log of activated Castles and Stately Homes.
This scheme should be of great interest to individuals or clubs who enjoy taking gear out on portable expeditions.
We look forward to plenty of activity in the new year.
It is important to note that to be valid, intended activations should be registered with CASHOTA-Ireland a minimum of 10 days prior to the activation.
Full details are on the website http://cashota-ireland.org/ [F5NQ]
