21/10/2008:  PZ5Z UPDATED - VHF & EME CANCELLED - The OM0C Contest Crew
is pleased to announce a DXpedition to Suriname. The group of 5
operators will be active as PZ5Z from Suriname between October 21-30th,
including an entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th).
Activity on all HF bands (160m-10m), with focus on low bands, especially
160m. Team members include Rich/OM2TW, Joe/OM5AW, Steve/OM5AA,

22/10/2008:  John, W5JON will be active as V4/W5JON from Ariel Heights,
North Frigate Bay, St. Kitts (NA-104, WW Loc. FK87SG) from October
22-31st. Activity is planned for 6-160m SSB, including an entry in the
CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th). The QTH is mountain top with a
330 degree view. Equipment will be IC-7000, RM Italy KL-400 Amplifier
(400 Watts), Alpha Delta 10-160 meter dipoles and a 3 element yagi on 6

22/10/2008:  Irv, K3IRV will be active as VP9/K3IRV from the island of
Bermuda (NA-005, WLOTA LH-0201) from October 22-28th. QRV holiday style

22/10/2008:  Jay/K0BCN (V31MX), Tom/AB5XZ and possibly others will be
active from Cay Caulker (NA-073), Belize, from October 22-29th. They
will participate in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest, most likely as V31MX

23/10/2008:  Ed/K3IXD, Pete/W2GJ, Dallas/W3PP and Bob/W8ZA will be
active as C6APR from the Crooked Island Lodge, Pittstown Point, Crooked
Island (NA-113), Bahamas, in the multi-2 category during the CQWW SSB
contest (October 25-26th). The lodge manager has confirmed that the
lodge survived both Hanna and Ike hurricanes. Before and after the
contest (October 23-27th) C6APR will be on 160m through 10m including
the WARC bands, CW and SSB. Before and after the contest (October
23-27th) C6AXD will be on 160m through 10m including the WARC bands,
mostly RTTY and some SSB. Both calls are good for Bird Rock Lighthouse

23/10/2008:  Laci, HA6NL and friends will be active from Thasos Island
(EU-174, MIA MG-124, WLOTA LH-4186) from October 23rd to November 8th.
They will take part in The CQ WW DX SSB contest as M/S, and in HA-QRP
activity week (November 1-8th) with J48RT call (QSL via HA6NL). The
operators will use all HF bands, and will try to work via satellites
too: Peter/HA5OV (J48OV), Laci/HA6NL (J48NL), Zsolt/HA6PS (J48PS),

homecall/1 from the Admiralteyskaya fortress (RC-001, for the Russian

23/10/2008:  Operators Jozef/ON4ACA and Marcel/ON6UQ will be active as
SI9AM from the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Amateur Radio Society during
the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL
via SI9AM. The operators will be active before and after the contest
between October 23-27th. Look for them to be on all bands mainly on CW.

from Christmas Island [Kiritimati] (OC-024), Eastern Kiribati, from
October 23rd-28th. They plan to operate the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October
25-26th) as T32CXX, a Multi-Single (Zone 31) entry. QSL to T32CXX via

23/10/2008:  Fukuda T88FY (JK2VOC) and Nose T88AC (JA2BNN) will be
active from the Palau rental shack, Koror Island (OC-009, WW Loc.

entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th). Outside the contest

24/10/2008:  Operators Chris/MW0DOL, Merv/MI0TMW, Arthur/MM0DHQ,
John/G8LGC, Gary/2E0NNH, Richard/M0RGB, Art/SP3CW and others will be
active as GB4HI from Holy Island and the Isle of Anglsey [aka Anglsey
An], Wales, from October 24-31st. They plan to activate CASHOTA
references and will try to activate some lighthouses. QRV on all bands
and modes. They will be staying in two locations, one at Carmel on
Anglsey (EU-124) and the other at Holy Head on Holy Island (EU-124, WW

24/10/2008:  Operators Nobuo/JA6GCE, Shinichi/JA6SOV and Naomi/JM6EBU
(YL) will operate from Ecuador between October 24th and November 2nd.
Hiro/HC5WW and the above three JAs will participate in the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Op/Single-TX/High-Power entry.
Their contest call sign will be HD5J. Outside of the contest they will
operate as homecall/HC5 on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. After
the contest they will travel to Galapagos Island (SA-004), and they hope
to operate from there as homecall/HC8 until November 1st. However, their

24/10/2008:  Operators Lee/HL1IWD and Harry/WX8C will be active from
Koror Island, Palau Islands (OC-009) as T88YB and T88OO, respectively,

Yamini/VU2YAM, and Bhanumathy/VU2BL, will be active as VU4MY from Port
Blair, South Andaman Island (AS-001, WLOTA LH-0562) from Octorber 24th
to November 3rd, as part of the NIAR Silver Jubilee celebrations. QSL

24/10/2008:  Helmut, DL5DSM (VU3NLG) and Norbert, DJ7JC (VU3NLF) will be
active October 24th to November 3rd from Port Blair, South Andaman
Island (AS-001, WLOTA LH-0562) using the call sign VU4RG. QRV with two
station on 160-10m CW, SSB, BPSK and RTTY, with amplifiers, a G5RV for
160-80m, a phased array (2 GPs) for 40m, a GP for 30m, a 5-band
Spiderbeam for 20-10m and a GP for 15m. VU4RG will be QRV during the CQ

25/10/2008:  Paul, K1XM will be active as TO4X from the island of French

26/10/2008:  "Oku" Seiji, JK1KSB, will be active as 8Q7SO from Mirihi
Island (AS-013), a south Ari Atoll (WW Loc. MJ63JO), between October
26th and November 1st. Activity will be holiday style on 80-10 meters

26/10/2008:  The Radio Operadores del Este, KP3RE will activate Isla
Palominos (NA-099, USi PR-009), located in Fajardo County, Puerto Rico,
on October 26th. Frequencies will be 20m, 17m and maybe 15m, Phone and
they will be using batteries and solar power. 20m PSK also. Antennas
will be verticals. And also they will use QRP CW for 20m at 2.5 Watts
QRP frequency 14.060 MHz (+/-). QSL via KP4RD. [USi]

26/10/2008:  Operator Shoji/JA7HMZ will once again be active from
Pohnpei (OC-010), but this time he will sign as V6B between October 26th
and November 1st. It is possible he may particiate in the CQWW DX SSB

28/10/2008:  Operators Garry/K9WZB and Sharon/K7WZB will be active from
the island of Aruba (SA-036, WLOTA LH-0033) as P40ZB between October
28th and November 6th. Activity will be on 40/20/15/10/6 meters using

30/10/2008:  As guests of the Royal Omani ARS (ROARS), the Lufthansa
Amateur RC (LARC), along with he Norden District of the DARC (DOK I09)
will be active October 30th until November 11th using the following call
signs: A43DLH operating from the ROARS HQ; and A43DLH/p operating from
the Omani Scout camp, city of Muscate (WW Loc. LL93FO). QRV 160m and up
on as many bands as possible, 24 hours per day, using CW, SSB and

31/10/2008:  Martin, G3ZAY and Michael, G7VJR will be active as GU3ZAY

31/10/2008:  The JA1KJW group plans to be active from Guam Island
(OC-026, also count for WLOTA LH-0064) from October 31st to November 3rd

LOOKING AHEAD -

01/11/2008:  On November 9th 2008, 20 navigators will set sails aboard
their monohulls, heading towards the three great capes, marking the
southern tips of the African continent, Australia and America. The
Vendée Globe will start, for the 6th time, from the harbour of Les
Sables d'Olonne, where it was born. And as far as the rest of the story
is concerned... well, it's up to the sailors themselves now. At this
occasion, the  Radio Club Vendéen is organizing a special activity
around the race. The team which consists of  Bernard/F9IE,
Patrice/F8BON, Roger, Pat/F6ACD, Jean-Claude/F6AQI, Jean-Louis/F6CVK,
Alain/F5HPY, Lucien/F5RFS, Philippe/F5TRO and Eric/F4LJW will sign TM6VG
from November 1st to 15th. They will be QRV both HF - 160 to 10m,
included WARC bands, and VHF - 2m - , using CW, SSB, and various digital
modes. QSL via F6KUF (RC Vendeen, 129 Cite Des Forges, Escalier E -

06/11/2008:  A team of 4 DL operators (arkus/DL9RCF, Hartmut/DM5TI,
Uwe/DL9NDS and Chris/DL5NAM) will work in WAE RTTY Contest (November
8-9th) from Hamad's station 9K2HN. Before and after contest (November
6-17th) they will focus on the WARC bands using RTTY, SSB and CW. QSLing

10/11/2008:  Jean Paul ON7AMI will be QRV November 10-15th from La Palma
Island (AF-004, DIE S-013, WLOTA LH-1648). QRV 7050 kHz SSB, 7007 kHz
CW, mainly during evening hours. Activities are also planned on 15m, 6m
an 2m, conditions permitting, QSL to ON7AMI via the bureau.

15/11/2008:  Operators KC1SS, K4UBT, W4MKH, N4FPS, W9QGB, W7GAM, N6VX
and AB4EW will be active from Talbot Island (NA-138, USi FL-121S), Duval
County, Florida, November 15-16th. They plan to be QRV all bands using

19/11/2008:  Russell, G5XW will be touring the Orkney Islands (EU-009)
from November 19-23rd. Activation of various islands in the Orkney

21/11/2008:  The 095 DX TEAM will be active from Salina Island (EU-017,
IIA ME-015, MIA MI-083, WLOTA LH-1005) from November 21-23rd. Look for
the following operators to be active - ID9/IW9GUR, ID9/IW9HLM,
ID9/IW9HQP, ID9/IT9RKR and ID9/IT9GCG. The team will also activate Fossa
delle felci Mountain (SOTA reference SL-022). QSL all calls via their

22/11/2008:  Niko, S53A will be active from The Hippo Lodge
(www.hippolodge.com/), Kafue National Park, Zambia, from November 22nd
to December 2nd, using the call sign 9J3A. He will also be QRV for CQWW
DX CW Contest (November 29-30th). Power generator, spider beam for high
bands, wire beams for low bands and Low power - IC7000. QSL via home

23/11/2008:  Kenny, K2KW will be active from Eleuthera Island (NA-001),
Bahamas, from November 23rd to December 1st as C6ATA, including a
Single-Op/Single-Band (80m)/Low-Power entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 29-30th). Outside the contest he will be QRV 160-20 meters.

29/11/2008:  Stuie, VK8NSB plans to participate in the CQWW DX CW
Contest (November 29-30th) from Darwin, NT, Australia (OC-001, also

29/11/2008:  John, K6AM will be active from the Cayman Islands (NA-016,
WLOTA LH-1042) during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a

29/11/2008:  Dale, N3BNA will be active as ZP0R from Asuncion, Paraguay
(Zone 11) for the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a
Single-Op/All-Band entry. Before and after the contest, Dale will focus

08/01/2009:  The Provins ARC, F6KOP will be active as TS7C from the
Kerkenah Islands (AF-073), Tunisia, from January 8-19th. Planned
activity will be on all HF bands, using CW, SSB, FM, and several digital
modes like RTTY, PSK31, BPSK and also SSTV. The team will pay attention
on 160, 80 and 40m, but all the other bands will be worked as well. They
also plan to have at least six, but probably seven stations, working 24
hours a day, all with PA's into beams, verticals and wire antennas.

island of St. Kitts (NA-104) during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February

SPECIAL EVENTS -

23/10/2008:  Members of the Turkish group called TCSWAT (Special
Wireless Activity Team) will activate the special station TC85TC to
celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. The activity
will be between October 23rd and December 2nd. The first 85 direct QSLs
will be replied to with a special Turkish Post Office stamp together
with a CD about Turkey. Activity will be mainly on 17, 20 and 40 meter

24/10/2008:  Special call sign GB8LS will be on the air from the
Leicester Amateur Radio Show October 24th. QSL via the RSGB bureau.

25/10/2008:  Operators Hal/W8HC, Jerry/K8OQL and Ruben/4Z5FI will be
active from the historic Masada at the Dead Sea as special event station
for Israel's 2008 60-year Anniversary using the special call sign 4X0C,
as a Multi-Single entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th).
They have been granted permission to operate as 4X0C as a special
event/contest station from atop Israel's historical Masada National
Park. Masada was built during 37 BC to 31 BC by Herod the Great and
served as a "nearly" impenetrable stone fortress and palace. QSL via

25/10/2008:  Special event call II20CJ will be aired between October
25th and November 30th to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ARI
Cinisello Balsamo (IQ2CJ). Expect activity on the HF bands and 2 metres,

25/10/2008:  Look for special event call sign GB2PPS to be aired October

31/10/2008:  UBA club members of CRD are proud to be on air with this
special event call sign to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first
ever Belgian TV broadcast in 1953. ON55INR will be aired on SSB, CW and
digital modes from October 31st to December 31st 2008. A special QSL

31/10/2008:  Over the weekend of the Llandudno Radio Rally the Eddystone
User Group call signs G3EUG and G7EUG will be aired from atop the Great
Orme at Llandudno. Using the Special Event Club Prefix of 'GC' will
provide the rare call signs of GC3EUG on 80m and GC7EUG on 40m.
Operation will be on Friday October 31st and Sunday November 2nd from
about 0900H with AM on 3605 kHz for an hour followed by LSB on about

9L SIERRA LEON - Karl, DK2WV and other operators from Germany and
England, plus one local operator, will be active as 9L0W from Sierra
Leone between 21 October and 11 November. The team will counduct
training courses in Amateur Radio at the University of Freetown.
Activity will be on 160-6 metres with up to three stations, with

V5 NAMIBIA - A VHF DXpedition to Namibia is presently in the final
planning stages. Although not yet 100% confirmed, it is most likely that
the operation  will be from Luderitz and will concentrate on VHF with
all authorized bands and modes active. Moonbounce, meteor scatter and
satellite operation are planned on the amateur bands from 50 to 1296

dated 2008-10-09: The German lead VK9DWX team is now QRV from Willis
Island. So far activity has only been on 17 meters. The team has a Web
