sent out earlier than normal to accommodate the late CQWW DX SSB
Contest announcements. Also, we wanted to provide the readers with
a consolidated listing of the CQWW DX SSB Contest participants.

3B8, MAURITIUS. Jacques, F1BCS, will be active as 3B8/F1BCS between
October 28th and November 9th. Activity will be on 40-15 meters, including
30/17/12 meters, on SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL per operator's instructions.
3DA, SWAZILAND (A "Flex-Pedition"). Dave, ZS6AVM, will be active as 3DA0VM
during the month of November. Activity will be on 40-10 meters. He will be
using a Flex-5000A Software Defined Radio (Flex Radio Systems) and will be
operating from Hawane Resort in Swaziland. Arrangements were made by
African DX Safaris. Antennas and Tower were supplied by African DX Safaris.
3V, TUNISIA. Operators YT1AD, YU1DW, YU1KX, YT3WW, RA1AIP and RA9USA
will be active from the club station 3V8BB during the CQ World Wide
DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-? entry. QSL via YT1AD.
9J, ZAMBIA. Niko, S53A, will be active as 9J3A from The Hippo Lodge,
(see http://www.hippolodge.com ), Kafue National Park, between November
22nd and December 2nd. He also plans to be active during the CQWW DX CW
Contest (November 29-30th). His equipment will be a IC-7000, spider-
beam for the high bands, and wire beams for the lower bands. QSL via

9K, KUWAIT. A team of four German operators will be active from Hamad's,
9K2HN, station between November 6-17th. Operators mentioned are: Markus/
DL9RCF, Hartmut/DM5TI, Uwe/DL9NDS and Chris/DL5NAM. The team plans to
be in the WAE RTTY Contest. Before and after contest they will be active
on the 30/17/12 meter bands on RTTY, SSB and CW. QSL via 9K2HN (see

9M8, EAST MALAYSIA. Steve, 9M6DXX, will be active as 9M8Z from Sarawak
between now and October 26th. He plans to be an entry in the CQWW DX SSB

9Y4, TRINDADE AND TOBAGO. Chris, 9Y4D (ex-9Y4NZ), will be active during
the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
(20m)/High-Power entry. QSL via info on QRZ.com.
A35RK QRT. Paul, A35RK, is QRT until mid-December. The antennas are down,
dismantled, and stored as a precaution against storm damage while he is
gone. Paul tells OPDX that his October log will go to W7TSQ and LoTW. He
will be departing the island for Nuku'alofa on the 27th, and will be in
San Francisco on the 29th. Look for him to return on the air as KH8/KK6H
between December 4-9th.
AU2, INDIA. Sara, VU3RSB, will be active with the special callsign AU2RSB
during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op entry. A
special QSL card will be sent to those who make contacts. QSL direct to
W3HNK only, no Bureau.
B1, CHINA. A Chinese team which includes Yongjian/BA1AJ, Mok/BD1ES,
Wang/BH1CSV, Fan/BA1RB, ChenXi/BD1WC, Xing/BD1NNI, BD1KHY, Qi/BG1QXU,
Yong/BD1DQD, BA1AAX, BD1HP, Guan/BG1CHS, BD1VF, ZHang/BD1BYV, Xiaodong/
BD1BNV and foreign operator Richard/K5SF will be active as B1Z during
the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Single
entry. QSL via EA7FTR.
C4, CYPRUS. Andy, LZ2HM, will be active C4I during the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-? entry. QSL via LZ2HM.
C6, BAHAMAS. Kenny, K2KW, will be active as C6ATA between November
23rd and December 1st. Activity will include participation in the CQWW
DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (80m)/Low-
Power entry. Outside of the contest he will be active on 160-20 meters,

CN, MOROCCO. Operators IK2SGC, IK2QEI, CN8WW and an international team
of operators will be active as CN3A during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest

CO8, CUBA. Raul, CO8ZZ, will be active during the CQWW DX SSB Contest
(October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/High-Power entry.

CONGRATS TO AD1C. Jim, AD1C, has celebrated his 15th anniversary (as of
October 12th) in writing the contest country file for contesters to use
with their CT program, and also NA, TR, WriteLog and many other programs.

CU2, AZORES. The Azores telecommunications agency (ANACOM) released the
CU2X callsign to be used in the 2008 CQWW SSB Contest, Single-Op/All-Band,
by Toni Linden, OH2UA. CU2X follows as another X indicator to the mother
station, OH8X, in Northern Finland operated by Marko Holmavuo, OH4JFN,
in the same category and the second sister station, TC4X, by Pertti
Simovaara, OH2PM, on 20M. QSL CU2X via OH2BH.
CX, URUGUAY. Members of the Centro Radio Aficionados Montevideo (CRAM)
will be active as CX1CCC during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th).

ER0, MOLDOVA. Serge, UR5FEO, will be active as ER0FEO during the CQWW DX
SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry.

EY8, TAJIKISTAN. Look for Philippe/F4EGS and Nodir/EY8MM to be active
in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) from two different stations.
Each of them will compete with their own callsign. Their bands of operation
will announced later and will be choosen later depending on the gear
available. QSL EY8/F4EGS via the home callsigns and EY8MM via K1BV.
FK, NEW CALEDONIA. Claude, FK8IF, will be active in the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 29-30th). Operation class is TBA.
HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN (25 Years of DXpeditions to HB0). Members of the
Rhein Ruhr DX Association (RRDXA) are now active as HB0/HB9AON and are
celebrating their 25th DXpedition to Triesenberg, Liechtenstein, until
October 31st. Operators mentioned are: DJ2YE, DL8EAQ, DK8EY, DL8DAW,
DK5EZ, DG3EX and DL6EAQ, as well as members of the DARC clubs Wulfrath
(R29) and Neandertal (R09, Mettmann/Erkrath) and some guests. The German
team will also be active in the CQ World-Wide SSB DX Contest as a Multi-
Multi entry with 6 stations. Antennas will include dipoles at a height
of 25m for the lowbands and monoband beams for 40m and up. QSLs go via

HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. Rich, N6KT, will once again be operating as HC8A.
He plans to be active during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th).

HQ9, HONDURAS. Ray, WQ7R, will be active as HQ9R during the CQ World Wide
DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via K5WW.
IOTA NEWS...................
AF-004. Jean Paul, ON7AMI, will be active from La Palma Island (DIE
S-013, WLOTA LH-1648), November 10-15th. Activity will be on
40 meters (7007 kHz for CW and 7050 kHz for SSB), mainly
during the evening hours. Activities are also planned for
15/6/2 meters, conditions permitting. QSL via ON7AMI by the
Bureau.
EU-009. Russell, G5XW, will be touring the Orkney Islands between
November 19-23rd. He plans to activate various islands in
the Orkney Group, excluding Stroma. QSL direct only via G5XW
(QRZ.com), with SASE/SAE and sufficient postage.
EU-017. Members of the 095 DX Team will activate Salina Island (IIA
ME-015 and MIA MI-083) as ID9/homecall between November
21-23rd. Operators mentioned are: Davide/IW9GUR, Angelo/IW9HLM,
Andrea/IW9HQP, Andrea/IT9RKR and Enzo/IT9GCG. Other reference
number activated is SOTA reference "Fossa delle felci

EU-169. The Italian group is now active as ZA0/homecall from Sazan
Island, Albania, until October 29th. Activity will be on all
HF bands including 30/17/12 meters, using CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31
and meteor scatter. Operators are Alfredo/IK7JWX, Nicola/I0SNY,
Pino/I8YGZ, Leopoldo/I8LWL and Oscar/IK2AQZ. QSL via their
home callsigns. QSL Manager is IK7JWX, but "only for DL
stations". Other reference numbers are MIA MA-001, ARLHS
ALB-004 and WLOTA LH-0028.
NA-138. Operators KC1SS, K4UBT, W4MKH, N4FPS, W9QGB, W7GAM, N6VX and
AB4EW will be active from Talbot Island (USI FL-121S, Duval
County, Florida), November 15-16th. Activity will be on all

SA-098. Daniel, DL5YWM, informs OPDX that videos are available for the
April 2006 OC5I DXpedition to San Gallan Island (SA-073) and

IS0, SARDINIA. Operators Roberto/IS0GRB, Alessandro/IS0MYN, Stefano/
IS0ANU and Franco/IS0VSU will be active as IS0A in the CQWW DX SSB Contest
(October 25-26th) as a Multi-2 entry. Activity will be on 160-10 meters.
All antennas are homemade, and their contest site is 1000 meters above
sea level at Mt. Armidda (Lanusei -NU), middle-east of Sardinia Island.

J48, GREECE (IOTA Op). A Hungarian team will be active from Thassos
Island (EU-174), between October 23rd and November 8th. Activity will
be on the HF bands, and they will try to work the satellites too. Operators
mentioned are: Peter/HA5OV (J48OV), Laci/HA6NL (J48NL), Zsolt/HA6PS
(J48PS), Al/HA7JJS (J48JJ) and Laci/HA7PL (J48P). They will also take
part in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as Multi-
Single and the HA-QRP Activity Week (November 1-8th) using the J48RT

JA6, JAPAN (IOTA Op). Taka, JA7GAX, who did several IOTA operations in
Oceania area between November 2006 and January 2007 (ex. 3D2CX, 5W0CX,
KH8/JA7GAX, and A35TN), has now announced his next IOTA DXpedition
schedules. This time it is in the JA6 district, so the only callsign to
be used will be JA7GAX/6. Although this is "domestic Island Hopping",
he is strongly eager to work DX. The first Island Hopping schedule is
as follows:
October 29-30th Koshiki Island (AS-037)
November 1-8th Tukhuar Islands (AS-049)
November 10-11th Amami Oshima (AS-023)
November 11-13th Okinawa (AS-017)
November 15-20th Minamidaito Island (AS-047)
If weather conditions are not favorable, he will try to activate the
IOTAs between November 22-28th in the following week.
For the 2nd Island Hopping (after the first Island Hopping), he wants
to go to the following islands in this order: Yaku Islands (AS-032),
Goto Islands (AS-040), Iki (AS-036) and Oki (AS-041). He will go back
to Kyusyu (the main island) after his operation on Yaku Island. If his
energy withers on the way, the operation on Goto Island and others will
become uncertain due to his condition. He may cancel his activity due to
the situation of energy, physical strength, and other reasons. QSL via

JW, SVALBARD. Peter, JW7QIA, will be active from Longyearbyen during

KH2, GUAM (OC-026). Operators Sasi/JA1KJW (KH2/AK0J), Noboru/JH1VVW
(KH2/NI2J), Hirano/JA1XVY (KH2/WH7QL), Shinzaburo/JA1FUY (KH2/NV1J),
Shoji/JJ1JGI (KH2/JJ1JGI), Kentarou/JJ1HKS (KH2/JJ1HKS) and Takashi/
JF1GUQ (KH2/JF1GUQ) will be active from here between October 31st and
November 3rd. Activity will be on the HF bands using SSB, CW, RTTY and

TC3, TURKEY. Operators Elif/TA3YE (YL) and Alpaslan/TA3G will be active
as TC3EC during the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 28-29th, 2009) as a
Multi-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. QSL via TA3GO.
TF, ICELAND. Members of the IRA club will be active as TF3W during the
CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via
TF3GB, by the Bureau or direct.
TM6, FRANCE (Special Event). Members of the Radio Club Vendeen will be
active as TM6VG between November 1-15th. Activity is to celebrate the
6th sailing race called "The Vendee Globe Challenge" towards and around
the three great capes, marking the southern tips of the African continent,
Australia and America. Operators of TM6VG are: Bernard/F9IE, Patrice/F8BON,
Pat/F6ACD, Jean-Claude/F6AQI, Jean-Louis/F6CVK, Alain/F5HPY, Lucien/F5RFS,
Philippe/F5TRO and Eric/F4LJW. Activity will be on the HF bands, 160-10
meters, included 30/17/12 meter bands, and VHF 2 meters. Modes will be

TS7, TUNISIA (IOTA Op). Members of the France Provins ARC (F6KOP) and
some international operators will activate Kerkennah Island (AF-073)
using the callsign TS7C between January 8-19th (2009). This is the same
group who activated J5C, XT2C, 5H1C, TO7C, 5V7C and many others. This
12 day operation would not be possible without the help of Mustapha,
DL1BDF. Activity will be on all HF bands using CW, SSB, FM, and several
different digital modes like RTTY, PSK31, BPSK and also SSTV. The team
will pay special attention to 160, 80 and 40m but will also be on all of
the other bands. They plan to have at least 6 (possibly 7) stations on the
air 24 hours a day using amps into beams, verticals and wire antennas.
The team consists of more than 25 operators and specialists, namely:

all the past F6KOP DXpeditions
Mustapha/DL1BDF - SSB and Digimodes; Public relation with Tunisian
authorities

Contest (February 21-22nd) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. The
callsign for the contest will be determined later. QSL route TBD. Look
for activity outside of the contest (signing V44/K0EJ).
VE2, CANADA. Operators Andrew/KD3RF, Irwin/KD3TB and William/K3FMQ will
be active as VE2DXY during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as
a Multi-2 entry. QSL via KD3RF. Antennas will be 2 HF6Vs and an a Delta
Loop on 40m.
VK8, AUSTRALIA. Stuie, VK8NSB, will be active during the CQWW DX CW
Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via VK6NE.
VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND. Members of Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group Inc.
will spend 10 days on Lord Howe Island for the 2009 CQ WPX Contest. Bill,

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (NA-023). Mike, K9NW, will be active as
VP2V/K9NW from October 23-31st. His activity will include an entry in
the CQWW DX SSB Contest. Category and activity depends on what wires he
can get in the trees. Low power, low wires. This is a work trip, so
activity will be as time permits. QSL via K9NW.
VQ9, CHAGOS ISLANDS. Rick, KI1G, will be active as VQ9RD from the U.S.
Navy Support Facility on Diego Garcia Island (AF-006), Chagos Archipelago,
between October 30th and November 11th. QSL via his home callsign, direct
only or via LoTW - please NO BUREAU CARDS.
YJ, VANUATU (Update). Operators Mat/JA1JQY and Kuni/JA8VE will be active
as YJ0AQY and YJ0AVE, respectively, from here between October 31st and
November 6th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and possibly
RTTY. They will try 160m if local situation permits. Look for them on
the following suggested frequencies:
CW - 1818, 3507, 7007, 10117, 14007, 18077, 21007, 24897 and 28007
SSB - 3798, 7080, 14170, 18135, 21270, 24940 and 28470 kHz
