7P8C ---> Club Log's OQRS for the recent DXpedition to Lesotho has been
activated. >From 8 to 17 February 50180 QSOs with 17297 unique
callsigns
were made (26908 SSB, 19236 CW and 4036 RTTY). Further information on the
operation and a photo gallery can be found at www.lesotho2016.com
<http://www.lesotho2016.com>.
FT4JA ---> "Last month, we reached a milestone with the shipment by sea of
our equipment which marks a definite point of no return for the project
both for logistical and financial support", the FT4JA team reported on 23
February. Departure for Juan de Nova is expected on 26 March, with
operations planned between 29 March and 11 April. There will be six
stations active on the HF bands, and one station for 6m. Read the Press
Release on www.juandenovadx.com, and pay attention to the band plan
coordinated with VK0EK. Further information, including QSL route and
real-time monitoring, is expected a few days before departure.
VK0EK & AUDIOLOG ---> "This service enables us to call on a telephone from
any location (including from Heard Island), and make an audio recording.
The system automatically captures the audio track, and provides it online
for anyone to listen with any browser. You can listen to the initial
recordings by going to https://media.vk0ek.org". The Audio Log entries will
be posted daily to DXpedition's website (http://vk0ek.org/) in the News
section.
VP8STI/VP8SGI & LOTW ---> "Although our previous policy was to give LoTW
only to those who requested a QSL card and then do a full LoTW upload in
September", the Intrepid-DX Group VP8 Team announced on 28 February, "we
have just now decided to do a full upload to LoTW as our way of saying
'thank you' for everyone's generous support! We have just completed
uploading the entire VP8STI and VP8SGI logs to Log Book of the World. Soon,
we will upload VP8IDX and VP8DRC logs to LoTW as well. We hope that this
gesture will negate the need to send us bureau cards which we feel will
someday be replaced by Log Book of the World. It is our hope to encourage
and promote this development. Soon, you will be able to read accounts of
our journey and we will produce a nice video which we will share with you
at no cost".
+ SILENT KEY + Norman Pascoe, G4USB passed away on 11 February. He was one
of the founders and the yearly organiser of the International Marconi Day,
one of the most popular events in amateur radio. Both the event's
(gb4imd.com <http://gb4imd.com>) and the Cornish Radio Amateur Club's
(gx4crc.com <http://gx4crc.com>) websites are
currently offline. "We are trying to sort this and gain access to them",
Steve G7VOH says, "but it will take some considerable time. For those who
have already registered there is have nothing more to do but if anyone need
to register please email crac.imd[@]gmail.com <http://gmail.com> and
they will be added to the
list". [TNX RSGB]
