S7, SEYCHELLES. Pascal, F5JSD, to be active as S79SD from Mahe (AF-024)
between April 15-25th. Activity will be holiday style on 40-10 meters,
possibly 6 meters if open, using mainly CW, and during the morning and
evening hours. PLEASE NOTE: On the 40m band, Pascal will be sending CW
on 7050 kHz (according to the local regulations 7050-7100 kHz), and
listening probably under 7030 kHz. Pascal will operate with 100w into
a vertical antenna. QSL via LoTW (after his return home), or via the
French REF-Bureau (Please only this Bureau), preferred.

SILENT KEY. Tony Monteiro, AA2TX, VP of Engineering of AMSAT became a
Silent Key "SK" on March 26th. Details are on QRZ.com and AMSAT.org. He
was the guy at the top of the Fox Satellite design. OPDX and its readers
would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of
AA2TX.

TM29, FRANCE (Special Event). Members of the Union Francaise des Tele-
graphistes UFT (The French CW Society) will be active using the special
callsign TM29UFT between April 6-20th. Operations and callsign are for
the 29th UFT annual meeting which will be held in Aubagne, South France.
This will be a CW only operation on 160-6 meters. All the QSOs will be
confirmed via the French REF Bureau (Only this Bureau will be used). SWL
cards should go via this Bureau also. QSL Manager is Gerard, F6ICG.

VK9M, MELLISH REEF. It has been a rough week for the VK9MT team. Storms
have hampered their operation and they were on the verge of leaving at
any time most of the week. The weather was extremely windy, with occasional
heavy rain, the antennas were taking a severe beating. The operating tents
were shaking and very noisy, the operators were having trouble hearing
callsigns.
The VK9MT team is now QRT. They were planning to operate until April
9th, but QSNs show activity ended around 1330z, April 4th. An update
sent out by Gene, K5GS, on April 5th states: Due to the ever worsening
weather associated with an impending tropical storm, the team decided in
the interest of safety to end the operation early. The last night on the
island was extremely difficult. With continued heavy rain and wind, radio
operations were nearly impossible. We have set sail for the Australian
coast and seek a course to keep ahead of the storm that caused us to
leave the reef. Expect 2.5 - 3 days of sailing prior to reaching our
port destination.
While the team is disappointed, we realize that you are even more
disappointed.
We gave one elderly ZS amateur his last one for Top of the Honor Roll,
a PP1 his Honor Roll position and many all time new ones. Based on the
logs there were many band fills.
We would like to acknowledge the generosity of the clubs, foundations,
individual donors and our corporate sponsors. And a special thanks to
Steve Kafka and the Evohe crew for their endless runs to the island,
help with every logistical task during the trip, and the strong backs
of his young crew doing the heavy lifting.

XV/3W, VIETNAM. The following is actually old news (from the Vietnamese
Amateur Radio Club Web page), but it was now made official. Following the
new national radio band plan published in November 2013 and signed by the
President, several changes are noticeable. See the PDF file at:
 http://www.rfd.gov.vn/imgs/2b8c93be29ab3da8227ae163fc7525f3-71pdf.pdf
Band plan table starts on page 27. Vietnamese HAM operators can now operate
between 7100 kHz and 7200 kHz (in addition to 7000-7100 kHz previously)
and also have the full 30 meters band allocated for amateur service (10100
kHz to 10150 kHz). 80 meters band is also allocated from 3500 to 3900 kHz
(instead of 3800 kHz). More remarkably, the MF are also authorized on
472-479 kHz (600 meters) in addition to 1800-2000 kHz. Please note that
each band must be applied independently when you request your license.

YJ0, VANUATU (Excerpts from Press Release #1). Members of "The Quake
Contesters" will be active as YJ0X from Vanuatu for a DXpedition between
October 3-15th. Operators mentioned are Phil/ZL3PAH (Team leader),
Paul/ZL4PW, Geoff/ZL3GA and Gordon/G3USR. They announced that flights
have been booked and they have secured a seafront villa. The team will
have 2 stations (K3s + amplifiers) plus a reserve (K2), operating on CW,
SSB and RTTY. Antennas are <foldingantennas.com> Hexbeam(s), 6 element
6m yagi and verticals for 30/40/80m on the edge of the sea. They are
investigating the cost/benefit of operating 160m. Phil, ZL3PAH, is their
QSL Manager. Logs will be on ClubLog, and OQRS will be available. Logs
will be uploaded to LoTW within 3 months. They do mention the following:
"Phil's, Geoff's and Gordon's XYLs will be along with us but this is NOT
a 'holiday style' expedition so whilst there will be some down time for
the ops, we are looking to make a high total number of QSOs. We will be
operating in both SSB and CW weekends of the 'Oceania DX Contest' (see
<http://www.oceaniadxcontest.com/>). For more details and updates, visit:
                        http://yj2014.wordpress.com

ZA, ALBANIA. Father and son operators Franck/F4DTO and Patrick/F4GFE
will once again be active from from Elbasan as ZA/homecall between October
18-27th. Activity will be holiday style on 40-10 meters SSB only using
a Yaesu FT-450 with 100w into a dipole and vertical for 10m. QSL via
their home callsign, direct or by the REF Bureau. No eQSL.

ZK3, TOKELAU. Operators Jacek/SP5EAQ and Marcin/SP5ES plan to be active
from Nukunonu Atoll starting October 8th, for a period of three weeks.
However, the dates may change due to the unpredictability of transport.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW and SSB. They expect to receive
the callsigns ZK3Q (SP5EAQ) and ZK3E (SP5ES) -- callsigns to be confirmed. =

QSL route TBD. For more details and updates, see: http://zk3.sp5drh.com
ADDED NOTE: There may be some activity from Apia, Samoa (5W) planned
during their return back (early November). =
