Bressay Lighthouse (ARLHS SCO-021, TWLHD WLH GM-009, WLOTA LH-1079, WW
Loc. IP90KC) on Bressay Island (IOSA SH06, SCOTIA SI08), Shetland & Fair
Isle (EU-012). He will operate CW and SSB QRP on 20, 40 and 80 meters in

islands (EU-001) from July 17-24th. Activity is planned for 40 meters

19/07/2008: Santa Cruz Island (NA-144, USi CA-012S, WLOTA LH-0813,
Santa Barbara County), California, will be on the air for a short time
on July 19th while setting up equipment for the IOTA event at the end of
the month. During the IOTA Contest, N6VR/p will be the CW station and
NT6AA/p will be on SSB. They will have tribanders, verticals, wire
antennas and small amplifiers for both stations. Before the contest the
individual operators will be on the air with their own call signs.
N6KZ/p will be on 30, 12 and 17 meters before and during the contest.

21/07/2008: The KL7DX IOTA DXpedition to Chuginadak Island (NA-234 New
One!, Grid AO52) is planned to take place from July 21-27th. At the
moment, team members include Yuri/N3QQ, John/KE7V and Yuri/UA9OBA. The
team will try to make as many as possible 2-way radio contacts with IOTA
Island Chasers on all HF bands including 6 meters. As of right now, they
are in the final planning stages for Chuginadak Island (Islands of Four
Mountains group) NA-234 Amateur Radio DX-pedition. Estimated Dates:

EH8RDB and EH8VCL between July 22-29th from Lobos Island (AF-004, DIE
S-008) and the Punta Martiño Lighthouse (FEA D2786, ARLHS CAI-005, TWLHD

sign AM8IL will be used from July 22-29th. On July 25th they will use
the call sign EH8RDB from Islote de Barrieto (AF-004, DIE S-117, DME

24-30th. Their main goal is the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 26-27th) as a

24/07/2008: A group of operators from the Radio Club Venezolano will be
active as YW6AJ from Isla Piritu Adentro (SA-090, DIV-002 for the
Venezuela Islands Award), Anzoalegui State, from July 24-27th. The team
will participate in the IOTA Contest as YW6A, but YW6AJ will remain
active on 12, 17 and 30 meters, as well as on the digital modes. QSL via

24/07/2008: Cris, PY7GK will be active as ZW6GK during July 24-27th
from Morro de São Paulo, Tinharé Island (SA-080, DIB #60, for the Brazil
Islands Award), Bahia State, Brazil, as ZW6GK. He will be active
specially on CW, maybe SSB, on 20, 30 and 40 meters, using only 100

25/07/2008: Operators Pete/W2GJ, Ed/K3IXD and Dallas/W3PP will be
active July 25-28th as C6APR from Crooked Island (NA-113), Bahamas,
including a Multi-Op/DXpediton entry in the RSGB IOTA contest. Before
and after the contest C6APR will be on 80m thru 10m, including the WARC
bands, CW and SSB. Also before and after the IOTA contest the call C6AXD
will be used on 6m and HF RTTY. Their initial calling frequency on 6
meters is 50.125 MHz SSB (WW Loc. FL22TT) using 100 watts and Moxon at

30/07/2008: Look for Ralph, NM5RC/p to be active July 30th from
Antelope Island (USi AZ-023/UT-023), which borders Kane county, Utah
and, Coconino county, Arizona. Short stay as the temperature of the red
rock will rise to 120° F by noon and there is no shade. 20m mostly, but
some 40m. Will also move to 40m upon relayed request. Will send QSL

31/07/2008: Jay, NS4J will be on a Buffalo, New York, road trip for a
long weekend. He would really like to put on two new ones, Squaw NY032
and North NY044 for the US Islands Award. Plans are to activate any or
all or none of the following US islands: Grand (NY-001R, Niagara
County), Squaw (NY-032, Erie County), South (NY-037L, Erie County),
North (NY-044, Erie County) on 40, 20 and 15 meters. Jay will use the

15/07/2008: Special Event Station Commemorating 2008 Beijing Olympics -
The Hong Kong Amateur Radio DX Association (HARDXA) is pleased to
announce that it has received official permission from The Office Of The
Telecommunications Authority authorizing it to use a special event
callsign VR2008O for the period from 15th July to 31st August, 2008 to
celebrate the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Operations will be primarily HF
from 7MHz through to 28MHz and VHF on 50MHz, modes operated shall be
primarily SSB, RTTY and PSK31. Direct QSL only to VR2XMT (Charlie Ho, PO
Box 900, Fanling Post Office, Hong Kong, PR China). No eQSL or LoTW.

18/07/2008: To mark the final closure of the London Air Traffic Control
Centre at its site at the former RAF West Drayton in West London, the
Air Traffic Control Engineers are holding a Closing Down Sale - All
Engineers must go! event at the Park on 18 July. An amateur radio
station will be operating for the day with special event call sign
GB40BYE, reflecting goodBYE after 40 years. The intention is to operate
all bands from 160m-70cm including 6 metres. [GB2RS]
23/07/2008: From July, 23rd at 0000 UTC to August 2nd, 2008 at 2400 UTC
the regional club stations of Borj-Cedria (3V8CB) start a special call
sign TS28ASJ from the Mondial Centre of Formation and Camps of
Borj-Cedria, near Tunis the capital city of Tunisia. Two radio stations
will be centralized there to broadcast the scouts radio calls for all
the world and transfer the Camp's days info. Activity will be on 15, 17,
20, 40 and 80 meters, using SSB, PSK31, RTTY, SSTV and CW. Do not
hesitate to be on the scouts frequencies and reply on this call. QSL via

26/07/2008: The Nucleo de Radioamadores da Armada (the Portuguese Navy
Amateur Radio Group) will be active as CS8DFG in late July to celebrate
their 6th anniversary. This special activity will take place on 80, 40
and 20 meter SSB and CW from the restored fregate "Dom Fernando II e
Gloria", from 0800 to 1900 UTC on July 26th and 27th. QSL via CT1DRB

- The OG0A IARU contest operation produced 2680 QSOs and 292 mults in
poor Aurora conditions. Bob, W6RGG added another 302 Qs after the
contest. But Northern QSOs and strawberries were sweat! [OH2BN]
- AZORES ACTIVITY SLATED FOR JULY 21-28, 2008 - Toni, OH2UA and Martti,
OH2BH will be in the Azores doing some antenna work and will
occasionally appear on the bands. In the IOTA contest they will activate
