CT     - The Nucleo de Radioamadores da Armada (the Portuguese Navy  Amateur
         Radio Group) will be active as CS8DFG in  late  July  to  celebrate
         their 6th anniversary. This special activity  will  take  place  on
         80, 40 and 20 metres SSB and CW  from  the  restored  fregate  "Dom
         Fernando II e Gloria", from 8 to 19 UTC on 26 and 27 July. QSL  via

EA8    - A large group of operators from the Canary Islands, mainland  Spain

F      - Martin, F4UKP/p will be active from Re  Island  (EU-032)  on  12-19

GI     - Declan/EI9HQ,  Joe  EI7GY  (GI0MPG),  Sean/EI4GK,  Pete/EI4GZB  and
         Peter/GI4VIV will participate in  the  IOTA  Contest  from  Rathlin
         Island (EU-122). They will operate  as  GI0MPG  from  Rathlin  East

GW     - G1JCC, G4LBH, G4LOO, G4MVU, G4UEM, G8ATD and M0BIK will  be  active
         on 160-2 metres SSB as  GB2CI  from  Caldey  Island  (EU-124)  from
         about 18 UTC on 2 September until about 11 UTC  on  the  8th.  Some
         operators may also use their  own  callsigns  (GW#xxx/p)  for  data
         mode operation, e.g. PSK31 and SSTV. The group will also be  taking
         part in the SSB Field Day and 2m Trophy contests over  the  weekend
         of 6-7 September using club callsign GW3SVJ/p. QSL cards should  be

HB0    - Bernd, DL6IAN and his wife Petra, DO6IAN  will  be  active  holiday
         style as HB0/DL6IAN and HB0Y/DO6IAN  from  Liechtenstein  on  13-18

HB0    - DL7JAN and DJ2HD will be active as HB0/homecall from  Liechtenstein
         on 15-19 July. They will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on  80-6  metres.

         in the IARU HF World Championship has been finalized as follows:

JA     - Look for JA1YUC/6 to be  active  from  Kuro  Island  (AS-024,  JIIA
         AS-024-009) on 22-27 July. They will operate SSB and CW on  the  HF
         bands and 6 metres, and will take part in  the  IOTA  Contest.  QSL

JW     - Stefan, ON6TI will operate  as  JW/ON6TI  from  Svalbard  on  15-20
         July. He will be active  in  his  spare  time  during  his  evening

KL     - The  ARRL  2008  Alaska  State  Convention  special  event  station
         W1AW/KL7 will be active from Alaska's  Arctic  Circle  (grid  BP56)
         from 26 July through 10 August. Expect operations on  160-6  metres
         CW, SSB and digital modes. Further information can be found on  the

OH0    - Pertti, OH2PM and Martti, OH2BH will participate  in  the  IARU  HF
         World Championship as OG0A from  Brando,  Aland  Islands  (EU-002).
         QSL via OH2BH. Outside the IARU event they will be using their  own
         calls, OH0R (OH2PM) and OH0B (OH2BH).  QSL  via  home  calls.  [TNX

ON     - Special event station ON1708M will be active  from  11  July  until
         the end of the  year  to  commemorate  the  Battle  of  Oudenaarde,
         fought on 11 July 1708. A key battle in the the War of the  Spanish
         Succession, it ended with the  defeat  of  the  French,  under  the
         leadership of the Duke  of  Vendome,  by  the  English,  Dutch  and
         Austrians led by the Duke of Marlborough and  Eugene  of  Savoy.  A
         re-enactment  of  the  battle  will  take  place  on  11-13    July

OZ     - Michael, DL6MHW will operate  as  OZ/DL6MHW  from  Bornholm  Island
         (EU-030) from 18 July to 4 August, with peak  activity  during  the

PA     - Hans, PA2MRT will be active on 80-10 metres as PA2MRT/m from  Texel
         Island (EU-038) on  13-18  July.  QSL  via  home  call,  direct  or

PA     - ON3DX, ON4ATW,  ON4AHF,  ON4AXU,  ON4HIL,  ON4IA,  ON4TTT,  ON6LEO,
         ON6NL, ON6ZG and ON8PH will participate  in  the  IOTA  Contest  as
         PB2M/p with two high power stations from Stellendam, Goeree  Island
         (EU-146). All of the QSOs will be confirmed automatically  via  the

PA     - Special callsign PA08DWN will be aired on 3-4  October  during  the
         annual  Furieade  maritime  event  at  Maassluis,  near  Rotterdam.
         Operations will take place from the radio shack of  the  "Elbe",  a
         tugboat that is being restorated to serve as a museumship. QSL  via

PA     - The Netherlands' national society (VERON) will  be  represented  by
         PH6Q in the IARU  HF  World  Championship.  There  will  be  twelve
         stations  on  the  air  during  the  entire  contest,  CW  and  SSB

SV     - Laci, HA0NAR will be active as SX8R from Thassos  Island  (EU  174)
         on 21-29 July, IOTA Contest included. He plans to operate  CW,  SSB

SV     - Luc, ON6LUQ will be  active  as  SV8/OT6T/p  from  Kerkyra  (Corfu)
         Island (EU-052) on 19-28 July. He plans to  operate  holiday  style

SV9    - Dimistris, SV1JB will be active as  SV9/SV1JB  in  his  spare  time
         from Kokini Hani, Crete (EU-015) between 21 July and 7  August.  He

TF     - According to the  information  posted  in  early  February,  Franz,
         DL3PS/HB9EHQ should be active from Iceland between 17  July  and  5
         August. Announced IOTA groups included the  Westman  Islands  (TF7,
         EU-071) as well as the costal islands (EU-168) and the main  island

UA     - Victor, RN1AW and  Nick,  RV1AQ  will  be  active  as  RN1AW/p  and
         RV1AQ/p from Krepysh Island (EU-133) on 21-27  July,  IOTA  Contest

VE     - VA1CHP, VA1YL, VE1DHD, VE1ENT, VE1FA, VE1MR, VO1NO and  VY2OX  will
         be active as VC1T from  Bon  Portage  (Outer)  Island  (NA-126)  on
         24-30 July, IOTA Contest included. Active bands will include  80-6m
         during non-contest operation. QSL  via  VE1RGB,  direct  (with  two

VK9C   - Giovanni, I5JHW will be active as VK9CJW from the  Cocos  (Keeling)
         Islands (OC-003) on 22-29  August.  He  plans  to  operate  holiday
         style on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20 and 40 metres SSB  and  RTTY,  with  an
         amplifier and a multiband vertical  antenna.  QSL  via  home  call,

W      - A group of operators from the Delta DX Association  and  the  Texas
         DX Society (namely Max/K5PP,  Bob/N5ET,  Buzz/N5UR,  Don/W5FKX  and
         Mike/W5ZPA) will be active as  N5I  from  Grand  Isle  (NA-168)  on
         25-27 July, IOTA Contest included. They will operate  CW,  SSB  and
         RTTY/PSK with two stations covering 30-10  metres,  depending  upon
         propagation. QSL via N5UR, direct or  bureau.  Further  information

W      - Santa Cruz Island (NA-144) will be on the air for a short  time  on
         19 July while setting up equipment for the IOTA event  at  the  end
         of the month. During the  IOTA  Contest,  N6VR/p  will  be  the  CW
         station and NT6AA/p will be on  SSB.  They  will  have  tribanders,
         verticals, wire antennas and small amplifiers  for  both  stations.
         Before the contest the individual operators  will  be  on  the  air
         with their own callsigns. N6KZ/p will be on 30, 12  and  17  metres
         before and during the contest. QSLs N6VR/p via N6AWD;  all  others,

YB     - The Bekasi DX Contest Club, YE1ZAT will participate in the IARU  HF
         World Championship as a Multi-Single entry. The operators  will  be
         YB1CCF, YB1KAR, YC1KAF, YD1JZ and possibly others. QSL  via  bureau
         or direct to P.O. Box 214,  Bekasi  17001,  West  Java,  Indonesia.

ZD8    - Steve, G3ZVW will be active again as  ZD8N  from  Ascension  Island
         (AF-003) from 27 August to 11 September. He  will  be  running  100
         watts to dipoles on the HF  bands,  and  activity  will  be  mainly
         during his evenings and the weekends, SSB, CW  and  RTTY.  QSL  via

ZF     - Don, W4YCH (ZF2DF) and Jim, W4JO (ZF2JO) will  participate  in  the
         CQ WW RTTY DX Contest (27-28 September)  as  ZF2DF  from  the  ZF1A
         club station on Grand Cayman (NA-016).  Outside  the  contest  they
         will be using their own calls on SSB and CW. QSL all  contacts  via

AFRICA TOUR ---> John, 9M6XRO will be active on 10-160 metres CW,  RTTY  and
SSB from Africa as follows:
11-13 July   ZS6/GM3OOK    South Africa
14-19 July   C91XO         Mozambique
19-25 July   3DA0OK        Swaziland
At each QTH he will be running a linear with beams for HF plus  four-squares
and verticals on the low bands. In Mozambique for part of the  time he  will
be  with  the  group  who  are  operating from the  16th to the 30th (see C9

IARU HF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ---> This year's event (rules  can  be  found  at
http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2008/iaru.html) will run  from 12 UTC  on
12 July through 12 UTC on the 13th.  The  following  IARU Member Society  HQ
stations  are  expected  to  participate  (also check the list maintained by
Bernie, W3UR at www.dailydx.com/iaru-08.htm):

425 DX NEWS MAGAZINE ---> The latest issue (June 2008) is now  available  at

ALGERIA ---> According to  Mokthar,  7X5JF  the  Algerian  authorities  have
suspended until further notice operating privileges for the use  of  80  and
17 metres, as well as VHF and UHF.  The  information  has  been  relayed  by
Mustapha, DL1BDF. [TNX F5NQL]

CY0X ---> The CY0X team is still active from Sable Island.  They  have  been
stuck on the island  since  7  July,  as  fog  prevents  the  airplane  from
landing. They hope to be able to leave on 12 July, when the fog is  expected
to lift. Some 4000 QSOs on 6 metres have been logged  so  far.  Please  note
that the on-line log at http://www.cy0x.com/ contains only 6m QSOs. QSL  via

QSL VIA IZ1CRR ---> Maurizio, IZ1CRR is no longer able to  reply  to  bureau
cards for both 8Q7RR (January 2001) and 9M8PSB (OC-165,  May  2004).  Should

VISIT VK9DWX ---> The latest press release (10 July) about the 9-27  October
DXpedition  to  Willis  Island  [425DXN   891]    is    now    available  at
http://www.vk9dwx.de/ . A second boat has been  chartered  to  deliver  more
fuel and other supplies, necessary for continuous operation of 4-5  stations
during the planned extended timeframe (9-27 October). There is place for  16
people on this boat, and a four-day (15-19 October) trip to visit VK9DWX  is
being offered. If interested in visiting Willis Island - and possibly  guest
operating from VK9DWX - please use the contact form on the website.

WFF AWARD ---> The "World Flora Fauna"  (WWF)  is  an  award  programme  for
contacts made with amateur radio stations operating from national parks  and
nature reserves  worldwide.  The  new  and  improved  website  for  the  WFF

ZS8T  --->  "We  are  all  patiently  awaiting  Petrus  to  activate  ZS8T",
Rhynhardt Louw (ZS6DXB) said in his latest press release dated 8  July.  "We
are not in the position to promise any  dates  currently  and  are  crossing
fingers that we will be able to bring a  full  report  soon.  For  the  time
being guys please be patient as  we  all  await  the  activation  of  ZS8T".
