IA0, ANTARCTICA. Gianni, I1HYW, from <www.waponline.it> provided the
following [edited]: Max, IA0MZ, did start as promise to be QRV from Mario
Zucchelli Station-Antarctica (WAP ITA-01) on Sunday evening, Oct. 20th.
He will be there until Feb. 2014. This morning (October 29th), Max sent
a message to remind the chasers a few simple rules in order to avoid loss
of precious time when he is operating HF. Max wrote: "On my second day
on air, I have experienced huge pile up where unfortunately (as usual),
people do not rule; all calling on everyone, many people do not even
respond when I came back to their calls ... I hope that, after the first
few days, things will became better, but please try to understand that
I cut hours of my sleeping time to be on for EU and please do not duplicate
the QSOs on the same band, leave everyone the chance to work MZS!
For the American friends; I'll be here until early February 2014, but
unfortunately the time between 22:00 and 02:00 UTC (that are 11:00-15:00
hrs local time here) is almost taboo for me. As you can imagine, that
falls in the middle of daily activity ... but it does not mean anything,
just a snowy day in that window will allow me to be on air even if for
half an hour or so. The advice as always, is to give an eye to the cluster,
to avoid throwing valuable time; I always use the spot quote=85 It will not
be gallant, but I'm sure it will help the chasers..... 73 from IA0MZ,
Massimo DIPAOLA @ Mario Zucchelli Station, Terra Nova Bay Antarctica
(UTC+13) S 74=B041.655' E 164=B006.839'"
According to Max's QRZ.com page, activity will be on 20/17/15/12 meters
SSB ONLY. He prefers the following suggested frequencies: 14333, 18125,
21230 and 24940 kHz. Suggested times are usually between 1700-1900z and
occasional between 0900-1030z. He posts: "NO CW - NO DIGI - NO SPLIT -
NO FILTERS - NO REAL TIME LOG - NO SCHEDS. THIS IS NOT A DX-EXPEDITION
BUT MAINLY A SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITION." QSL via IW0EFA, by the Bureau or
direct to: Gian Paolo Volpato, via Piave, 13 - 01100, Viterbo, Itlay.
Log will be uploaded to LoTW after his return to Italy. He does have a

1st through 9th, 2013.
This 'Suitcase DXpedition' will operate QRP to 100-watt radio stations

EA6/S53R QSLS. Ralph, K2PF, will handle QSLs for recent operation
of EA6/S53R. Direct requests only. Log is on LoTW.

NEW QSL MANAGER. Alan, 5B4AHJ, informs that M0URX has taken over the
QSL duties for 5B4AHJ and P3J. However, Alan states that he will continue
to manage QSLs for the older callsigns: 5B50J, 5B/G3PMR, G3PMR & others.
ADDED NOTE FROM ALAN: "May I remind your readers that a large number of
Cyprus stations have QSL Mangers outside Cyprus. The CARS QSL Bureau
cannot deliver QSLs to these stations. Please ensure that the QSL
Manager's callsign is written prominently on the card. Many cards are
received from bureau with the correct manager, but the cards still get
delivered to CARS because the manager's call is not prominent. The
following page lists the Cyprus stations that have managers outside
  Cyprus <http://www.cyhams.org/index.php/en/cars-services/qsl-bureau-servi=
ce/141-incoming-qsl-cards-foreign-amateurs-a-qsl-bureaux>.
  Thanks! 73 Alan, 5B4AHJ"

NOT THE QSL MANAGER/ROUTE. Petr, OK1DOT, announced last week that
RW6HS is not the QSL Manager for the following DX stations. Some
stations do not exist or have other QSL Managers or the the station
does not even know that their callsign is listed on the RW6HS Web
site! Petr has contacted the below stations and their response was
surprising: their QSL cards can be handled by themselves; My QSL
Manager is not RW6HS! This information was gathered from QRZ.com
and DX bulletins. Here is the list of stations: 4X0F, CE2EZE, CT1JSP,
  EA8/W4OI, EW1AR, JX7DFA, KP3EM, OD5NO, PR7CPK, SQ5OZH, TA1AZ, VK4SJP,
  VU2UR, YV5DEH and ZB2FK.

S2, BANGLADESH (Update to OPDX.1117/1118/1131/1133 - Press Release #5).
Project 2013 by the Mediterraneo DX Club (MDXC) announced October 29th,
that the team will use the S21ZBB callsign during the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 23-24th) as a Multi-2 entry.

STANDARD TIME. Did you remember to change your clocks? Countries who
observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which took place on Sunday, March
10th, are now expected to move their "local clocks" backward 1 hour on
Sunday, November 3rd, from 2:00 AM local time to 1:00 AM. In 2014, Day-
light Saving Time (DST) will again go into effect on Sunday, March 9th,
at 2:00 AM local time. For the history and details about ST and DST, as
well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who observe
DST), see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_time
              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time
ADDED NOTE: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know not to change
their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their
computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some"
ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.

T33, BANABA ISLAND (Reminder). The T33A DXpedition to Banaba Island
(OC-018) is expected to be active this week between November 5-18th.
Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. They will
have six stations on the air at two different sites. A OQRS by ClubLog
will be available and will be the preferred method to use for your QSL
confirmation. Logs will be posted to Logbook Of The World (LoTW) approx-
imately 6 months after the conclusion of the DXpedition. Direct QSLs
are via W2IJ. QSLs will also be available direct by the Bureau. For
more details, visit the T33A Web page at: http://www.t33a.com/index.htm
The T33A DXpedition's Blog page is at: http://banaba2013.wordpress.com
Also, the T33A team will be using DXA interface for their operation. DXA
is an innovative Web site that allows DXers to view the status and activ-
ities of a DXpedition in near-real-time. Within a few minutes after making
a contact with the DXpedition, the DXer is able to see a graphical listing
of their contact. The DXA Web page for the T33A operation is located at:
                          http://dxa2.org/t33a
ADDED NOTE: For one day only, on November 18th, look for David, N1EMC
(Co-leader), to be active from Banaba Island as T33X. QSL via N1EMC
direct.

UI2, KALININGRAD. Igor, UA2FZ, will be active as UI2K during the CQWW
WPX SSB Contest (March 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via
UA2FZ.

UP44, KAZAKHSTAN. Members of the "Kazakhstan Traveling Radio Amateurs
Group", plan to activate the following references as UP44WFF between
November 9-10th:
          WFF/UNFF-030 - State natural Park =ABMedeo=BB

some young radio amateurs. Activity will be on 40m (7060-7100 kHz), 20m
(14140-14180 & 14244 kHz), 15m (21200-21244 kHz) and 10m (28450-28540 kHz)
+/- QRM. Modes will be CW and SSB, using a Kenwood TS-2000 and TS-590
into a multi-band Delta M0PLK (20-10m) and an Inv. Vee (40-10m). QSL via
LoTW, by the Bureau, direct and <http://eqsl.kz/>. More details and info
about diplomas are available at:

VK0H, HEARD ISLAND. It has been reported [on the Web page below] that the
2015 Cordell Heard Island Expedition Project's restructuring has been
completed as of October 15th, and is grouped into three broad groups:
Mountain Science, Environmental Science and Communication Science. A
document, "HD_2015_Research_Program", has been completed describing the
proposed projects for a 2015 expedition to Heard Island. The document
will be released on 15th Nov. 2013. The Expedition's Organizer/Leader
Dr. Robert Schmieder, KK6EK, will visit the Australian Antarctic Division
(AAD) in Hobart, Tasmania, during Nov. 4-14th, to discuss the expedition,
the scientific projects, and arrangements for transportation and onsite
support. The goal is a collaborative effort between the AAD, Cordell
Expeditions, and other institutions that have expressed interest in
participating. For further information, please contact Dr. Schmieder
at <schmieder@cordell.org>, and visit the expedition's Web site at:
                       http://www.heardisland.org

VU7, LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS. Operators Aravind/VU2ABS (RTTY/CW), Deepak/VU2CDP
(CW/SSB), Nandu/VU2NKS (RTTY), Basappa/VU2NXM (CW/SSB), Pai/VU2PAI (CW/SSB),
Chandra/VU2RCT (SSB), YL Raji/VU3CHM (SSB), Chetan/VU3DMP (SSB) and Krish/
W4VKU (Organizer - SSB/RTTY) have just been granted by the Ministry of
Telecommunications & IT, Government of India, to activate Laccadive
(Lakshadweep) Islands sometime between November 20th and December 10th.
Exact dates are to be confirmed soon. The team plans to be active from
Agatti Island (AS-011) with the callsign VU7AG. Given the short notice,
the team is working hard in getting things organized and is looking to
be active for at least fourteen days. The team would be operational in
batches with three high power stations running CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested
frequencies are:
  CW - 1812, 3512, 7012, 10112, 14012, 18082, 21012, 24902 and 28012 kHz
  SSB - 7095, 14180, 18155, 21280, 24955 and 28480 kHz
  RTTY - 7032, 10142, 14082, 18092, 21092, 24922 and 28092 kHz

  SPECIAL NOTES:
    * The VU band allocation in the 80m phone segment is very, very
narrow. It was therefore decided by the team that there would be
      no 80m SSB operation.
** On 20m, they will listen higher up in the band. Especially while
working General class hams in the U.S.

Another callsign has been issued for demonstration purposes on Kavaratti
Island =96 VU7KA. This would be used only briefly when team members make
presentations to the local administration in Kavaratti and educate them
on amateur radio. QSL Manager is Krish, W4VKU, direct or by the Bureau
(see details on the Web page). An Online QSL Request System (OQRS) will
be available for all your QSL requests. OQRS will be enabled soon after
the expedition. For Logbook of The World (LoTW): QSOs would be uploaded
to LoTW in approximately 6 months time. The following Web page has been
setup, and contains bios of operators, QSL details, frequencies and a
survey. Visit the VU7AG page at: http://www.vu7ag.info

XV2V40J, VIETNAM (Special Event). Operators Shim/JF1HJZ (XV3AA), Shoji/

LATEST NEWS FROM KOSOVO, Z60A AND ALBANIA, ZA. Jarmo, OH2BN, sent out
the following press release on November 1st [edited]: "During the recent
CQWW activation of Kosovo, a project to activate neighboring Albania was
agreed jointly by members of SHRAK, Kosovo's Amateur Radio Association
(Z60A) and Radio Arcala (OH8X) of Finland.
The team will be headed by Fehmi Bojniku/Z62FB and Martti Laine/OH2BH.
They are seeking additional team members from USA and Japan. The operating
location will be the coastal city of Durres - only a 3-hour drive from
Kosovo's capital Pristina.
To simulate the upcoming ZA expedition, the Kosovo team will fire up
Z60A for the first time this coming Friday (November 1) until Sunday
(November 3) on the following SSB frequencies: 14210, 21310 and 28510
kHz, operating split frequency when needed. Special emphasis will be
given to Japan and USA, with superb radio conditions hopefully lasting
for this weekend.
  The following persons - Vjollca/Z61VB, Driton/Z61DX and Fehmi/Z62FB -
are heading the operations with their new hams participating. A special
QSL card can be obtained via OH2BH.
This activity is supported by Emerald Hotel, Pristina.
                  <www.emeraldhotel.info/>
While Kosovo is expected to qualify for DXCC credit some time soon,
Albania counts now and is still semi-rare on several bands.
In the recent CQWW SSB Contest, as many as four (4) Z6 stations partic-
ipated in the event and their QSOs will soon be uploaded to LoTW."

ZD9, GOUGH ISLAND. Bani, ZS1BM, is expected to soon be active as ZD9G
from Gough Island until August 2014. QSL via ZS1HF strictly: Pierre Tromp,
P. O Box 151, Worcester 6849, South Africa. Watch QRZ.com for updates.
