CQ NEWS. Richard Moseson, W2VU, Editor of CQ Amateur Radio, provided the
following press release dated March 27th: "Terry Zivney, N4TZ, Named
Director of CQ WPX Contests -- Terry Zivney, N4TZ, has been named Director
of the CQ World Wide WPX Contests, effective immediately, CQ Publisher
Dick Ross, K2MGA, announced today. Terry succeeds Randy Thompson, K5ZD,
who has been WPX Contest Director since 2008 and recently was named
Director of the CQ World Wide DX Contests.
Licensed since 1961, Zivney has held N4TZ since 1977 and has had
numerous top-five USA finishes in the single-op/all-band (SOAB) low
power category of CQWW, CQWPX (as KS9K), and ARRL DX contests. He also
competed in the 2010 World Radiosport Team Championship in Russia, and
has had three articles published in the National Contest Journal.
Professionally, Zivney will retire in May 2013 from Ball State University
in Muncie, Indiana, as the Maxon Distinguished Professor Emeritus of
Finance and Insurance. In the 1970s he worked as an electrical engineer
at Scientific Atlanta and Computer Sciences Corporation.
'As a long-time low power contester,' said N4TZ, 'I especially appreciate
the WPX contest because its unique mix of exotic DX and plentiful domestic
contacts ensures that great fun will be had by all participants regardless
of the propagation conditions. I look forward to harnessing the momentum
this contest has developed under the leadership of K5ZD and respecting
the legacy of former directors K6AW, N8BJQ, and W8IMZ.'
CQ Publisher Ross noted that 'in my early talks with Terry, he has
already offered several innovative ideas. Plus, he brings with him the
valuable perspective of the low-power contester. I am looking forward to
working with him as WPX Contest Director.'
The CQ World Wide WPX Contests are the second-most popular amateur
radio contests in the world (after the CQ World Wide DX Contests). The
SSB portion of the 2013 WPX Contest is this weekend, March 30-31; the CW
weekend is in May. Any questions regarding the 2013 WPX Contests should
be directed to Terry via e-mail to <director@cqwpx.com>.
We thank K5ZD for his dedicated service to the WPX Contests and look
forward to a seamless transition to N4TZ's administration of the event."

you QSL, please check your QSO online at the UFT Web site <www.uft.net>.
However, those who would like to have a direct card, should ask for it
not before July 15th, to Bernard, F9IE, (QRZ.com address is correct).
In such a case, don't forget SAE and 1 valid IRC or 2 USDs.

TM35, FRANCE (Special Event). To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the
world well-known ARC of Provins, F6KOP, and the inauguration of its new
facilities, look for the special callsign TM35KOP to be active between
May 3-18th. Activity will be on all modes, including rare ones being
used on 160m to 10 GHz. The WW Locator is JN18PN. Most of the activity
will be on the weekend; May 8-9th and May 18, date of the manifestation
in Provins. QSL via F6KOP via the French Bureau. Direct QSLs go to F5NQL
(address ok on QRZ.com; include SAE, 1 valid IRC (preferred) or 2 USDs).
As you know, F6KOP organized some big DXpeditions in the past like 5V7C,
TO7C, 5H1C, J5C, XT2C, PJ4C, TJ9PF, 5X8C, TK7C, IS0R, TS7C, TM7CC, TM7C,
and more in the French IOTAs.

FM/TO5, MARTINIQUE (NA-107). Al, F5VHJ, will once again be active as
TO5A, from FM5BH's QTH during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th)
as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via F5VHJ, direct or by the
Bureau. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW.

V4, ST. KITTS. Jon, W5JON, will once again be active as V47JA from his
vacation home in Calypso Bay, St. Kitts (NA-104, WW Loc. FK87SG), hill-
side QTH located 300 feet from overlooking the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic
Ocean, between July 9th and August 10th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters
(including 60m) using SSB and RTTY/Digital modes. Equipment is a Kenwood
TS-590S, Yaesu FT-857D, and SB200 Amplifier. Antennas include: a 80-10m
Multi-band Dipole, and metal roof mounted S9, 18' and 31' Verticals and
3 element Yagi for 6m. His operations will include the IARU HF Championship
Contest (July 13-14th) and the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th0 as a
Single-Op/All-Band entry. Also, XYL Cathy, W5HAM, will occasionally
operate as V47HAM. ALL QSLs go to W5JON direct or via LoTW.

ZK3, TOKELAU (Update to OPDX.1095/Date Change). Operators Hans/DL6JGN
and Guenter/DL2AWG will now be active as ZK3N from Nukunonu Atoll (OC-048)
between April 15-30th (not April 23rd and May 8th as first announced).
Reason for dates being changed is that the shipping service used has
"updated boat schedule from Samoa to the Tokelau Islands." Therefore,
they had to rebook their flights. For more details, visit the ZK3N Web
page at: http://www.tokelau2013.de
