QSL INFO UPDATE FROM VU2PAI. Pai, VU2PAI, sent the following to OPDX:
"Greetings from Mangalore ,South India,
With a heavy heart I wish to inform the sad news about the loss my
beloved father recently. He encouraged me very much in all walks of
life and specially he helped me and motivated a lot for Ham Radio.
The reason for my mail is to request you to publish some information
that I will give in this mail in your next news bulletin.
I have a small back log of the QSLs that I have received recently from
about June-August as I was travelling to the U.S. in May-June to attend
Dayton Hamfest, and I have not been active on the air for about 2 months
since the death of my father. I am now QRV, and I will be sending all
the pending cards soon. I once again request all DX hams not to send any
green stamps with their QSL card. IRCs are fine no problem at all. I
also read that it is difficult to get IRCs in many post offices in
Europe and now the U.S.A also. But please do not forget to send a self
addressed envelope or an address label with your QSL request.(More info
on QRZ.COM under my call VU2PAI)
I will be very happy to send cards via direct even without IRC or green
stamp, no problem, I request hams to please use 3 or 4 beautiful stamps
on the envelope when they send me their card. If possible they can send
me 3 or 4 mint (unused stamps) from their country or any saved envelopes
that they have from exchanging QSLs from other DX contacts to me. I love
collecting stamps and stamps on envelopes. I still have some photo QSL
cards from my previous activations like St.Marys Island (IOTA AS-096),
Sacrifice Rock Island (Iota AS-161), AT0PAI,AT2PAI,VU2PAI/50 etc.
I DO NOT have any QSL Manager, and I handle all my QSL requests. Some
databases showed a QSL Manager in Italy for me which is wrong infor-
mation.
All QSL cards only for VU7LD/VU2PAI (Laccadive Islands) is VIA W3HNK ONL=
Y.
I have also been appointed as the QSL manager for ALL VU stations since
the last one year, and I will be happy to forward all incoming QSL cards
to the members of the ARSI (Amateur Radio Society Of India which is
affiliated to the IARU).
Best wishes to all and Seasons greetings in Advance for a very Merry
Christmas and happy,healthy and a prosperous 2013."

V8, BRUNEI (Update). By the time you read this, the activity by the
V84SMD DXpedition should be over. Remember, the V84SMD log search is
available at: http://www.maxlaconca.com/logv84smd
QSL via IK2VUC, direct, by the bureau or the OQRS. Logs will be uploaded
to LoTW 4-5 months after the activity. Further information can be found
on their website at: http://www.mdxc.org/v84smd
As of 2347z, November 22nd, V84SMD has made a total of 39310 QSOs with
14102 Unique callsigns (42%/CW, 37%/SSB and 21%/Digi). Breakdown by
continent is: 1%/AF, 44%/AS, 43%/EU, 10%/NA, 2%/OC and 1%/SA.
VK0H, HEARD ISLAND (Update). A recent update, was posted on the Heard
Island (The 2014 Cordell Expedition) Web page at:
http://www.cordell.org/HD
Under "News" it states [edited]:
"PROJECT STATUS - We announce the appointment of Viola Krebs as liaison
to IPEV, the operators of the vessel Marion Dufresne. Viola replaces Peter
Casier who resigned for personal reasons. We are currently in final
negotiations for the itinerary and cost for the expedition. Attempts to
arrange a combined mission with TAAF to enable the team to be on Heard
Island for 33 days did not succeed due to the large size of the team
and inadequate space on the vessel.
We report that that team member Damion Gildea has made preliminary
arrangements for an Australian film team to make a documentary of the
expedition.
We expect that in the next news update (15 Dec), we will have specific
information about the itinerary and projected costs.
We have posted updates on the expedition website <www.heardisland.org>.
For more information, please contact Dr. Robert Schmieder, KK6EK, Organizer
and Expedition leader, Schmieder@cordell.org."
VP2M, MONTSERRAT. Alan, N3AD, will once again be active as VP2MMM between

http://www.i2ysb.com/idt
Official forum is: http://www.hamradioweb.org

XV1, VIETNAM. Eddie, XV1X, will be active during the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (10m) entry. He mentions
that he may operate on other bands if 10m closes up. QSL RW6HS.
XV4, VIETNAM. Yan, XV4Y (ex-XV4TUJ), located in Mekong delta (south of
Vietnam), informs OPDX this past week [edited]: "Like last winter, I
will try to be active on 80 meters around NA sunrise time (1300-1400z).
I already have several good reports and even a couple of QSOs during last
month, but the level of noise is still really high since the rainy season
has not yet ended. I hope to have better conditions in December and
January, but the stations who want to work me may need a lot of patience.
My setup is rather simple with 100W in a low-above-ground 80m OCF Dipole
for TX antenna and an homebrew coaxial-made small loop for RX antenna.
I will also try to be on the air for Europe around 2200z (my sunrise),
but I have not a lot of spare time for this so don't expect me to be
there every morning. However, band conditions are usually better at
sunrise than at sunset so the QSO rate could be better. For more details
about my planned operations (when I am able to plan something) will be
available on my Twitter account @XV4Y. See you on the air." QSL via
OK1DOT, LoTW and eQSL. Yan's Twitter and Web page can be found at:
http://twitter.com/#!/XV4Y/followers
http://xv4y.radioclub.asia
Also, to learn more about Yan, read his QRZ.com page.
XW2, LAOS. Rudi, DK7PE, is now active as XW2CW from Vientiane until
November 27th. Activity will be limited. Look for him to possibly be
on 160 and 80 meters. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.
Visit his Web page at: http://www.rooody.de/index.html
YB0, INDONESIA. Pri, YB0ECT, will be active during the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (10m)/Low-Power entry. QSL
via W2FB.
ZL9, CAMPBELL ISLAND. Just a reminder that members of the Hellenic Amateur
Radio of Association of Australia (HARAOA) will be active as ZL9HR from
Campbell Island (OC-037, WFF ZLFF-019) between November 28th and December
9th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using all modes. QSL via EB7DX direct,
LoTW or use the OQRS for Bureau and direct requests. For more information
and updates, visit their Web site at: http://www.campbell2012.com
