3A, MONACO. Operators Max/ON5UR and Marc/ON8AK will be active as 3A/homecall
from Monaco between November 9-17th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters,
SSB only and with one station (possibly two) on the air. QSL via M0URX.
They hope to have a Web page up soon.

3D2, FIJI. Ricardo, PY2PT, one of the operators from the upcoming T30PY
and T30SIX DXpedition to Tarawa Island (OC-017), Western Kiribati, is
planning to be active as 3D2PT before and after the T30PY/T30SIX DXpedition
from the following Fiji Islands:
  OC-016 - Viti Levu Island (WLOTA L–0055); October 13-15th and again
           between 25-27th
  OC-121 - Tavarua Island; October 27th-November 3rd

  Ricardo states, "The operation from Fiji, if possible, will be done in
my free time because the main focus is on the preparation for the T30PY
& T30SIX DXpedition (October 16-25th)." QSL via PY2PT.

3D2/C, CONWAY REEF. A press release sent out October 4th states: "The
3D2C team has just arrived in Suva from our return voyage from Conway
Reef. We are very pleased to have made 71,693 contacts from Conway Reef.
We expect to have QSL cards in the mail in late November. We will upload
to LoTW within six months. We are very grateful to all of our equipment
sponsors, including ICOM and ACOM. We appreciate all of the financial
support from INDEXA, NCDXF and all club and individual sponsors. We have
now placed much of our equipment into storage, and we hope to activate
other rare South Pacific entities next year. We are updating our website
with our statistics and OQRS information.

4S, SIR LANKA. Peter, DC0KK, will once again be active as 4S7KKG from
Sri Lanka (AS-003, WLOTA 0762) between November 9th and March 9th, 2013.

5D7, MOROCCO. Operators Abdo/CN8VO, Jos/PD0JOS (CN2OS) and Francois/ON4LO
(CN2LO) will be active as 5D7AT from Agadir between October 8-21st.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters SSB. QSL via ON4LO, direct or by the

5U, NIGER. Operators Christian/TL0A (5U5U), Paul/F6EXV (5U6E) and Jan/DJ8NK
(5U8NK) are now active from Niamey until October 15th. Activity will be
on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and Digital. Suggested frequencies are:
 CW   - 1826.5, 3524, 7024, 10104, 14024, 18084, 21024, 24894 and 28024 kHz
 SSB  - 3799, 7070, 14190, 18150, 21290, 24950 and 28490 kHz

5X, UGANDA (2013). A press release sent out by the members of the F6KOP
team states [edited], "After many DXpeditions in the past (5V7C, 5H1C,
XT2C, J5C, TK7C, TS7C, TM7CC, IS0R, TJ9PF) and the successful PJ4C in
2012, the F6KOP team is happy to announce their next one in Uganda for
February 2013. More than 20 ops, 6 stations for 12 days in this beautiful
Africa country." Details from their Web page <http://www.5x2013.com>
state that the operation will take place between February 6-18th, from
a location some 20 Km from Entebbe airport. They mention that "they have
found the perfect place for hamradio, a large hotel with more than 6000m²
for our antennas with a direct access on the beach of the Victoria lake."
Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. Suggested
frequencies are:

6V, SENEGAL. Vladimir, RK4FF, will once again be active as 6V7S from Le
Calao in Ngaparou between October 22nd and November 3rd. No word on whether

6W, SENEGAL. Francis, F6BLP, will once again be active as 6W7SK from
Saly Portudal, 80 kms south of Dakar on the coast, between January 5-18th,
2013. Activity will be holiday style using the same station as last time
(IC-7000 into G5RV antenna) operating mainly CW. QSL via F6BLP, direct

8Q, MALDIVES. Jim, G3VDB, is intending to once again be active as 8Q7EJ
from Vilamendhoo Island Resort (AS-013) between October 29th and November
11th. Activity will be holiday style mainly on 20 meters using CW, SSB,
PSK31 and RTTY. QSL via his home callsign. The 2009/2010/2011 8Q7EJ logs are

9M2, WEST MALAYSIA. By the time you read this, Shou, JA1XXI, will be
active as 9M2/JA1XXI from Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia (Malacca
Strait) until October 15th. Activity will be holiday style on 20/15/10/6
meters using CW and SSB. Suggested frequencies are 14220, 21220, 28500
and 50110 kHz. QSL via his home callsign, by the Bureau for JA and direct
only for stations outside of Japan (SAE+1 IRC or 2 green stamps).

9U, BURUNDI. An international team of operators from ON, PA and GM will
be on the air from Burundi during the second half of February 2013. In
total, they have 10 operators and four stations and airing the requested
callsign 9U4U (not confirmed yet). A Web site will be online soon with
details and information about their plans. This Expedition is organized
by the "Belgian Rockall Team".  

AH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Kazuo, JH8PHT, is once again active as AH0KT from
Saipan on Northern Mariana Island (OC-086) until October 9th. Activity
will be on 80-6 meters. Look for him to also try 10 meters FM and AM.
QSL via direct to his home callsign. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW.
PLEASE do not QSL to Saipan.

AH0/KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Operators Kit/JA1NVF, Kowata/JF7ELG, Miho/JJ2VLY
and Yutaka/JQ2GYU will be active as NH0J from Tinian Island (USI NI003S,
WLOTA 3108), Northern Mariana Islands (OC-086), between October 18-22nd.
Activity will be on 80-6 meters using CW, SSB and possibly some RTTY/PSK.
The operators may also use their own U.S. callsigns, such as AH0J (QSL
via JA1NVF), WA2O/KH0 (QSL via JF7ELG), WS2M/KH0 (QSL via JJ2VLY), and
WS2Y/KH0 (QSL via JQ2GYU). QSL NH0J via JJ2VLY, direct or by the Bureau.

C5, THE GAMBIA. Members of the Radio Syd Contest Group will be active as
C5A from Banjul during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a
Multi-Multi entry. Operators mentioned are Lada/OK1DIX, Jiri/OK1DO,
Petr/OK1FFU, Karel/OK1JKT, Vlada/OK1NY, Jiri/OK1RI, Vasek/OK1VVT, Joe/

DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL Awards Branch Manager, reports on the
following:
  * On September 24th, Bill, NC1L, states, "Congratulations to the team
    which helped to reintroduce Amateur Radio to Kosovo, and welcome
    back to the airwaves to the returning Hams. As of this time Z60K,
    and/or any other Z6 station, will not count for any entity for DXCC
    awards purposes as they do not qualify under the DXCC rules. Any
    future change in Kosovo's DXCC status will be announced by ARRL."

 *  The following operation is approved for DXCC credit:
           J51FD - Guinea-Bissau; 2010 Operation
    "If you have had this operation rejected in a recent application,
    please send an e-mail to the ARRL DXCC Desk," Moore said. "Please
    note that due to heavy e-mail volume, you may not receive a reply.
    Once updated, results will appear in Logbook of The World (LoTW)
    accounts, as well as online in the daily listings."

E51, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. Frank, HB9BXU, and a group of other Swiss hams
will be active as E51C, E51ABS, E51BZD and E51CHX, from Aitutaki Island
(OC-083) between November 12-30th.  Activity will be holiday style on
80-10 meters including the 30/17/12 meter bands, between 1900-1200z,
using CW, SSB and PSK31. Suggested frequencies are:
  CW    - 3505, 7020, 10104, 14024, 18080, 21024, 24894 and 28024 kHz
  SSB   - 3799, 7070, 14190, 18145, 21290, 24950 and 28490 kHz
  PSK31 - 3580, 7035, 10139, 14070, 18100, 21070, 24920 and 28120 kHz

  They state that there will be no internet access and they will not be
able to provide online logs during their operation. QSL via HB9BXU.

ED9, CEUTA AND MELILLA. Operators Con DF4SA, Jorge/EA7HZ, Julio EA7JB,
Quillo EA7LS, Chris/EA7RU, Jorge/EA9LZ and Zoli/HA1AG will be active
as ED9Z from Ceuta during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as
a Multi-2 or Mutil-Single entry. The group will be using all Spiderbeam
antennas and a 40m 3 element full size beam. QSL via EA9LZ.

FM/TO9, MARTINIQUE. Robert, S53R (ex-ST2AR), will be active as TO9R from
FM5BH's QTH on Martinique Island (NA-107) during the CQWW DX SSB Contest
(October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. Outside the contest,
Robert will be signing FM/S53R. QSL via S53R, direct or via LoTW.

H4, SOLOMON ISLANDS. Bernhard, DL2GAC, will once again be active as H44MS
on a DX vacation to Honiara, Guadalcanal (WLOTA 0086), Solomon Islands
(OC-047), between October 17th and December 10th. Activity will be on
80-6 meters SSB only. QSL via his home callsign, by the Bureau or direct.

H4, SOLOMON ISLANDS. Operators Phil/G3SWH and Jim/G3RTE will be active
from Honiara, Guadalcanal (WLOTA 0086), in the Solomon Islands between
February 18-28th, 2013. The Solomon Islands are located in CQ zone 28,
ITU zone 51. Guadalcanal counts as OC-047 for IOTA purposes. The "most
wanted" data provided by Clublog currently shows the Solomon Islands at
#81 in Europe and #77 in North America. Their activity will be on CW
only on all bands 80-10 meters. There will be no 160, 60, 6 meters or
EME activity. Propagation permitting, they plan to have two stations on
the air for as many hours every day as is possible. Their main objective
is to work as many European, North American and ROTW stations on as many
different bands as possible and plan to make at least 15,000 QSOs. QSL
via G3SWH, either via the OQRS facility on Phil's Web site
http://www.g3swh.org.uk (recommended), direct with SAE and adequate return
postage or via the traditional Bureau route. There is more information

H40 & H44, TEMOTU AND SOLOMON ISLANDS. Sigi, DL7DF, will once again
lead a group of operators on a 2013 DXpedition which is being called a
"Two Entities DXpedition - Solomon 2013". Sigi states on his Web page
that they have chosen two destinations. The first destination will be
the Guadalcandal (OC-047), Solomon Islands (H44), between March 8-25th,
2013. During the time between March 12-23rd, part of the group will be
active from Nendo (OC-100), Temotu Island (H40). Activity will be on
160-6 meters using CW and SSB. They to have several stations on the air.
One station on each destination will be exclusively dedicated to RTTY,
PSK31 and SSTV. Their station equipment on each destination consists of
4 transceivers  (3 x K2, 1 x FT857D), 3 power amplifiers, a lowband
vertical for 160/80m, a deltaloop for 40, a deltaloop for 30, a Spiderbeam
for 20/17/15/12/10, a 5 element Yagi for 6m, some Beverage antennas as
well as some laptop computers. Operators mentioned are Manfred/DK1BT,
Georg/DK7LX, Wolf/DL4WK, Reiner/DL7KL, Sigi/DL7DF, Juergen/DL7UFN, Frank/
DL7UFR, Jan/SP3CYY and Leszek/SP3DOI. Pilot station is Bernd, DF3CB. QSL
route is via DL7DF, direct or by the Bureau.

IOTA NEWS..............
  AF-053.  Christian, J28NC, who has been in Djibouti since July, announced
           that he will team-up with Jean-Francois, J28UC, to activate
           the coral reef Islands Moucha or Maskali sometime in the near
           future.

  AF-083.  Alfredo, IK7JWY, is organizing a second DXpedition to Djerba
           Island (WLOTA 1394), Tunisia, between April 27th and May 4th,
           2013. The group hopes to use the callsign TS8IT. Activity will
           be on all bands and modes. Current operators are Alfredo/
           IK7JWX (team leader), Antonello/IK2DUW (QSL manager), YL Rosy/
           IW2NLC, Ampelio/IS0AGY, Roberto/IK2PGM, Leopoldo/I8LWL, YL

  AS-060.  Members of the Korean Contest Club (KCC) will be active as D9K
           from Pigum Island, South Korea, between October 26-29th.
           Activity will be on 80-10 meters and include participation in
           the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi-Single

  AS-075.  Andrea, IK7YTT, will be active as XX9TTT from Coloane Island,
           Guangdong Province, between October 26-29th. Activity will
           include the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-
           Op/Single-Band (15m) entry. There will be activity before and
           after the contest, and Andrea will be on other bands. Suggested

  NA-031.  Jim, KA3UNQ, will be active from numerous lighthouses in the
           Rhode Island State Island group between December 6-9th. Details

  NA-034.  Jacek, SP5APW, will be active as W4/SP5APW from Clearwater
           Island between October 15-18th. Activity will be holiday style
           for only a few hours a day using K3 (probably battery powered)
           and a Buddipole antenna. Operations will be mainly on 20/15/10

  NA-138.  A few days before his NA-034 operation (see above), Jacek,

IOTA OP (THAILAND). Eddy, ON4AFU, will once again be in Thailand to
activate the following IOTAs. His schedule is as follows:
  October 7-24th - Callsign HS0ZJF/8; from Koh Samui (AS-101)
  October 26th-November 4th - HS0ZJF/9; from Koh Butang (AS-129)
Activity will be on 40-10 meters using CW only with 100 watts into a
wire antenna. QSL via ON4AFU, direct or by the Bureau.

ISWL CALLSIGNS (For October). The following ISWL club callsigns will be
used throughout the month of October:
  GX4BJC/A - Operated from Walton on the Naze, in Essex, by Herbie, G6XOU.
             ( /A WAB Square = TM22 - England & IOTA = EU-005 ). Herbie
             will also operate as GX4BJC/P at times.

  MX1SWL/A - Operated from Hartford, in Cambridgeshire, by Tom, G3RPV.
             ( /A WAB Square = TL27 - England & IOTA = EU-005 ).

KG4, GUANTANAMO Bay. Look for the following operators to be active from
Guantanamo Bay (NA-015) during the month of October:
  October  13-27th - Ed/KN4KL (KG4KL); activity on SSTV, RTTY, SSB, PSK

SI9, SWEDEN (Special Event). Special event station SI9AM from the King
Chulalongkorn Memorial in Ragunda, Sweden, the largest Thai Pavilion in
the world outside Thailand, will be active between October 13-14th, and
in the Scandinavian Activity SSB Contest (SAC). Operators mentioned are
Markus/SA3BPG, Joel/SA3BRX, Jan-Eric/SM3CER, Lars/SM3EAE, Björn/SM3UQO
and Göran/SM5SIC. SA3BPG and SA3BRX are young and newly licensed radio
amateurs and will now for the first time try contesting. They will
operate three stations, one of the currently most productive band and
one of the second best band. The third station will be a multiplier
station. Outside of the contest, activity will be on 160-10 meters.

the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as VP5T and as a Multi-Multi

Operators will be active as VP5/homecall on the island between October

VU3/P, ANTARCTICA (Bharati Base). Gianni, I1HYW, informs OPDX: "Bhagwati
Prasad is still active as VU3BPZ/P from the new Indian Base 'Bharati'
(WAP IND-04) in Antarctica, until the end of December, then he will be
onboard the 'M/V Ivan Papanin' on the way to India via Cape Town. A stop
is preview at Maitri Station (WAP IND-03) where he hopes to operate again
as VU3BPZ and when sailing the call used will be VU3BPZ/MM as done on the
way on. He is still waiting the reply for his request of a special callsign
through the Indian Ministry, and perhaps the answer will come around mid-
October. QSLs have not been printed yet and will not be available before
the end of November, so no hurry in QSLing; information to the chasers
will be given as soon as we know if the special call will be issued or not.

LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Gianni, I1HYW, reports that the Bharati Base's sunrise
is at 2341z and sunset at 1347z. Local time down there is UTC +5 HRS.
There are about 46 days left for Bhagwati, VU3BPZ/P, to be there before
he leaves onboard the "M/V Ivan Papanin". If you did not work the Bharati
Station yet, the best times and frequencies are:
       10m - 28495 kHz between 1100-1215z
       17m - 18145 kHz between 1015-1100z
       20m - 14180 kHz +/- between 1400-1500z and again between 1700-1800z
  For North Americans, VU3BPZ/P will be on 14242 kHz between 0200-0300z.
If you don't hear him, call him (VU3BPZ/P), he may be just listening at
the above times and bands given.

XP, GREENLAND. Henning, OZ1BII/OU2I, will once again be active as XP2I
from club station XP1AB in Kangerlussuaq between November 16-19th.
Activity will be on CW in the LZ DX Contest (November 17-18th) in ITU
Zone 5. Also, look for activity on the 160/80 meters during the night

XX9, MACAO. Operators Francisco/EA7FTR (XX9TFR), Eugene/EA5HPX (XX9TPX),
Jose/EB5BBM (XX9TBM) and David/EB7DX (XX9TEX) will be active from Pousada
de Coloane Hotel, Coloane Island (AS-075) between October 18-29th. Activity
will be on 160-6 meters, including the 30/17/12 meter bands, using CW,
SSB and RTTY, with at least 2 stations on at the same time on different

XZ, MYANMAR (Update). Simon, HS0ZIB/G6JFY, who was active as XZ1K, is
now "no longer living in Kawthaung". According to his Web site (which is
"now redundant" as he calls it), Simon states, "I hope to obtain a new
licence for operation from my new QTH in the capital city of Yangon".
Simon informs OPDX that he plans to "live and work in Yangon on a long-
term basis now." He also mentioned that he is "in contact with the telecoms
Regulator who is currently updating all the outdated telecoms and radio-
comms laws in Myanmar.  However, right now he is very busy with the issue
of new mobile telephone network licences, so I am sure that any progress
in the ham radio laws will be slow. To try to improve my relationship
with the government departments, I am trying to get a new job actually
in the new capital city of Nay Pyi Taw, where all the government offices
are located..."
