4S     - Members of the Radio Society of Sri Lanka  plan  to  be  active  as
         4S7LGT from the lighthouse  on  Barberyn/Beruwala  Island  (AS-171)
         during  the  International  Lighthouse/Lightship  Weekend    (18-19
         August). [TNX The Daily DX]
5H     - Ron, DL4ME will be active as 5H3ME  from Tanzania  from  14  August
         to 3 September. He will operate holiday style  on  80-6  metres  CW
         and digital modes. QSL via home call.
9A     - Vincenzo, IZ2WMW, will be  active  as  9A/IZ2WMW  from  Krk  Island
         (EU-136) on 18-25 August. QSL via  home  call,  direct  or  bureau.

CT     - CT1EJB and CT2JYX will be QRV as CR5WFF (http://cr5wff.blogspot.pt)
         from Berlenga Island  (EU-040) on 17-20  August. They will  operate

CX     - The Radio Club Uruguayo will be active as CW1R from Punta del  Este
         Lighthouse on 17-19 August for the ILLW. Look for activity on 80-10
         metres CW, SSB and digital modes with  at  least  two stations. QSL

DL     - Mike, DL4ABO will be active as DL4ABO/p from Foehr Island  (EU-042)
         on 18-25 August. He plans to be QRV during his evening  hours.  QSL

GM     - A team from the Grantham Amateur Radio  Club (www.garc.org.uk) will
         be active as GB0BL and/or GS0GRC from  Bressay  Isle  (EU-012)  and
         lighthouse on 14-19 August. QSL via operator's instructions.
GM     - A team of YL operators will be active  as  GB2YLS  from  Fair  Isle
         (EU-012)  on 16-22 August, including the ILLW. They will operate CW
         and SSB on the HF bands. QSL via MM5YLO. [TNX DX World]
KL     - Look for Doc KL7XK/p, Chuck WL7CSJ/p,  Heinz  VA7AQ/NL5  and  Frank
         VE7DP/WL9 to be active  from  Pleasant  Island  (NA-161)  on  17-19
         August. They will operate CW and SSB on 30, 20, 17 and  15  metres.

OH0    - Normunds, YL3DQ will be active as OH0/YL3DQ from the Aland  Islands
         (EU-002) on 12-20 August. He will operate holiday  style  on  80-10

OH     - Look for OH8T to be active from Marjaniemi lighthouse  on  Hailuoto
         island (EU-184) on 17-19 August for  the  International Lighthouse/

ON     - ON4YOTA (Youngsters On The Air) will be  in  use  on  19-26  August
         during a youth  radio  camp  to  be  held  in  Eeklo,  Belgium  and
         organized by UBA and VERON. QSL via ON9CFG. Further information  on

PJ2    - Louis, PJ2LS will be active as PJ2L from  Noordpunt  Lighthouse  on
         Curacao  (SA-099)  during  the  International  Lighthouse/Lightship
         Weekend on 18-19 August. QSL direct to EB7DX.
SP     - Jacek, SP5OXJ will be  active  as  SP5OXJ/1  from  Karsibor  Island
         (EU-132) on 10-19 August. He will operate  CW  and  digital  modes.

TA     - The TC Special Wireless  Activity  Team  (www.tcswat.org)  and  the
         Giresun Radio Amateurs and Nature Sports Club  will  be  active  as
         TC2ELH from Karadeniz Eregli Oluce Lighthouse on 18-20 August.  QSL
         via TA1HZ.
V3     - Travis, AF6WU (V31WU) and  Kjerstin,  AF6KJ  (V31DV)  will  operate
         mainly SSB from Caye Caulker  (NA-073),  Belize  on  16-20  August.
         QSLs via AF6WU, direct or bureau.
P4     - Jack, W6NF  (P40NF)  and  Shelley,  K7MKL  (P40S)  will  be  active
         holiday style  from  Aruba  (SA-036)  on  15-21  August.  She  will
         participate in the SARTG RTTY Contest; Jack will operate mainly  CW
         on 20, 15 and 10 metres (plus 6 metres,  if  there  is  an  antenna

VK     - Bill, VK4FW  will  be  visiting  his  daughter  on  Groote  Eylandt
         (OC-141) on 9 August for one week. Look for him  to  be  active  as
         VK8MM (CW only). QSL to VK4FW. [TNX QRZ DX]
VK     - Look for Tony, VK3VTH to be active  as  VK3VTH/7  from  the  Currie
         Lighthouse on King Island (OC-233) for the ILLW. He expects  to  be
         QRV on 16 and 17 August, for a few hours starting at 5  UTC  on  20
         metres SSB; then during the lighthouse  event  on  18  August  (0-9
         UTC) and on the 19th (0-7 UTC), on 40 and 20 metres  SSB.  QSL  via
         home call, direct or bureau.
VK     - Mike, VK7FB and Anne, VK7BYL will  be  active  from  Tasman  Island
         (OC-233) and lighthouse on 18-25 August, including an entry in  the
         International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend. [TNX rsgbiota.org]
VQ9    - Jim, VQ9JC (ND9M) is  back  on  Diego  Garcia  (AF-006)  until  mid
         November. The ham shack  was  closed  for  maintenance  during  his
         absence from the island, and he does not know yet when it  will  be
         re-opened.  In  the  meantime,  he  operates  from  two   different
         locations on the island, both of which are in  recreational  parks.
         All of his operating is currently  Field  Day  style,  "in  that  I
         bring all my gear (rig, power  supply,  antennas,  power  and  coax
         cables, keyer, laptop, and tools - about 40 pounds) with me in  two
         backpacks. There is no shortage of trees, but I can  only  get  the
         antenna up about 25 feet because of the density of the  palms".  He
         has to set up the station and then break it down each  day,  "which
         further limits  my  operating  time  to  1230-1615Z  on  most  days
         typically".  He  runs  100  watts  into  single-band  dipoles;   he
         operates mainly CW with some  SSB,  while  digital  modes  are  not

W      - The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club (W2GSB) will be active  from
         the historic lighthouse on Fire Island  (NA-026)  on  18-19  August
         for  the  ILLW.  They  plan  to  have  three  stations    operating
         simultaneously on 80-10 metres CW, SSB and PSK31, plus  satellites.

WEST AFRICA TOUR --->  Dominic,  M1TKA  will  be  active  as  M1KTA/6W  from
Senegal  on 15-22 August, and  from The Gambia (C5) on 22-29 August. He will
operate SSB, RTTY, PSK and CW on most  HF bands. One day side trips to Goree
Island  (AF-045,  6W)  and the Bijol Islands (AF-060, C5) are being planned.
While on the islands he will operate on 20 metres SSB (battery powered QRP).

7Z7AB ---> The website for the 5-11 October 7Z7AB expedition  to  Al-Dhahrah
Island  (AS-190) is now up and running at www.dxtool.com/7z7ab/.

ILLW  --->  The  15th  annual  International  Lighthouse/Lightship  Weekend,
conducted under the sponsorship of the Ayr Amateur Radio  Group,  will  take
place from 00.01 UTC on 18 August until 23.59  UTC  on  the  19th.  Complete
information on  this  popular  event,  including  a  list  of  participating
stations (404 from 44 countries so far), can be found at http://illw.net/

NCDXF ---> The Northern California DX Foundation (www.ncdxf.org)  has  added
two new Directors to fill vacancies created by retiring board  members.  The
eleven member Board of Directors, which oversees  all  of  the  Foundation's
business, now includes Rusty Epps  W6OAT  (President),  Glenn  Johnson  W0GJ
(Vice-President),  Kip  Edwards  W6SZN  (Secretary),  Don    Greenbaum  N1DG
(Treasurer), Ned Stearns AA7A, Steve Merchant K6AW, John  Miller  K6MM,  Ken
Anderson K6TA, Glenn Vinson W6OTC and newly elected Glenn Rattmann K6NA  and
Tom Berson ND2T. Since its founding in 1972, NCDXF has  supported  over  500
DXpeditions and donated in excess of one million dollars.

NIUE: NEW PREFIX ---> On 3 August the International Telecommunication  Union
(ITU) assigned the entire E6 prefix block (E6A-E6Z) to Niue  (ex  ZK2).  The
ARRL DXCC List and the  Award  Credit  Matrix  on  LotW  have  already  been
amended to reflect this change.

PT0S ---> A summary of the reconnaissance trip to St.  Peter  and  St.  Paul
Rocks [425DXN 1109] can be found  at  http://pt0s.com/.  The  actual  4-hour
survey was conducted by AA7JV and PY2XB on 1 August.

QSL 5R8FL---> Andreas, 5R8FL has terminated G3SWH's QSL managership  of  his
station effective 31 July 2012. "I have his logs  up  to  the  end  of  June
2012", Phil says, "and am awaiting the log for July.  I  will  be  uploading
the latest logs  to  LoTW  and  to  the  search  facility  on  my  web  site
(www.g3swh.org.uk) in the next few weeks". Phil has not been any reason  for
the termination, and he has "no information as to whether Andreas  has  made
any alternative arrangements for confirming his future QSOs". [TNX G3SWH]

RAC ONTARIO SECTION ---> Effective 1 September, the current Ontario  Section
of RAC (Canada's national amateur radio Society) will be  replaced  by  four
new Sections: Ontario North (ONN), Ontario East (ONE), Ontario South  (ONS),
and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). RAC Sections  are  separate  multipliers
for some contests, be sure to update your logging software.
