OJ0, MARKET REEF (Press Release - date July 23rd) [edited]: "A limited
Market Reef (OJ0) activation during the IOTA Contest -- Next Friday morning
on the 27th of July, a group consisting of G3TXF, G3XTT, SM0DZB and SM0W
will attempt to land on Market Reef (OJ0), now from Sweden, with a small
boat to activate the Reef during the IOTA contest as OJ0R, EU-053. During
last winter the Lighthouse on the Reef lost all permanent antennas plus
the wind generator, so the team will put up several vertical antennas and
dipoles and run modest power.
The main goal for the team on this trip will be to prepare for a new
permanent antenna installation that will be done later in August. SM0W
will also collaborate with the Finnish Lighthouse Society to find a good
permanent solution for the electricity for future activations. They will
still try to keep at least one station open for the IOTA contest. The
team will try to leave the Reef early Monday morning on the 30th of July,
says team leader Teemu, SM0W. QSL OJ0R via G3TXF. For more information

Between August 17-19th, the whole team will gather at PW2D contest station
to test antennas and stations that will be used in the expedition. At this
time each one will carry back home the items that will be transported as
individual baggage in the airlines. Unfortunately, excess baggage is a
main concern mainly within the Pacific island flights.
As previously announced the group is very committed to put a meaningful
effort on Low Bands and Six meters.
We would like to thank clubs, companies and individuals for their
donations and for making this Dxpedition possible. Donations will certainly
enhance our performance, enabling us to take better antennas and gears.
Our QSL policy has also been improved to better match people's needs.
Five different QSO confirmation possibilities are available including a
fast track for donors.
Details can be checked at: http://www.mdxc.org/t30py/ "

V8, BRUNEI (Update/Press Release). The follwing are edited excerpts from
a press release (#4) sent out on July 25th, by the "Mediterraneo DX Club":
"Great news from Brunei! Thanks to the efforts, made during the past weeks
by the V84SMD team, the Magic Band will come back. -- Members of a 18
multi-national DXpedition team organized to be active between November
11-23rd by the Italian Mediterraneo DX Club, has obtained a 50 MHz license
and will now be able to put up a dedicated antenna for this band!
This is a real great target reached by the team, and just as a reminder,
they will be active on all bands/modes, 24 hours per day because the six
meters band from V8 land has come back on air after a silence of more than
10 years! So, all of the team is very happy to give to the DX community
this great opportunity to work them on 6m. Once again the very motivated
and professional V84SMD guys are asking for support to help them in any
way -- even with small donations. Please, don't miss any updated news by
visiting (from time to time), the DXpedition official Web site at:
http://www.mdxc.org/v84smd "
VK0H, HEARD ISLAND (Update). Bob, KK6EK, Team Leader/Organizer of the
planned 2014 Cordell Expedition to Heard Island, has posted two documents
of interest for DXers to read on Heard Island Web page at:
the http://www.cordell.org/HD
Documents are:
1. The Preliminary Project Description for the 2014 Heard Island
Expedition (v. 3.7, PDF, 6 MB):
http://www.cordell.org/HD/HD_documents/HD2014/HIP_Project_Description_3.7X.pdf
PLEASE NOTE: This document is revised often. They request that you do not
distribute out-of-date versions.
2. The book VK0IR Heard Island, by KK6EK (1997, PDF files, various sizes,
entire book 100 MB):
http://www.cordell.org/HD/HD_documents/VK0IR/VK0IR_Book.PDF
(The book is available in parts -- see Web page)
Bob states on the Web page, "Currently we are elaborating the scientific
program for the expedition and adding to the list of candidates for the
team. We are pleased to have Jean-Michel Cousteau as Honorary Expedition
Leader and Joe Taylor N1JT (Nobel physics) as Honorary DXpedition Leader.
If you have interest in being involved in the project as a team member,
advisor, scientist, sponsor, or in any other capacity, we would welcome
your inquiry."
VP2V, BRITISH VIGRIN ISLANDS (Update). Steve, AA7V, will once again be
active as VP2V/homecall from Virgin Gorda (Tortola) between September
26th and October 1st. He mentions that he will be in the CQWW DX RTTY
Contest (September 29-30th), and probably won't take a keyer/paddles and
possibly a microphone. Steve states, "I will lug my Ameritron amp down
there and (hopefully) run 400w. I have a G5RV and an 80/40 trap dipole
which will both hang off the porch of one of those cliffside villas. If
any time, I will try 17 meter RTTY. Thank goodness no 160 in this contest."
QSL via AA7V direct or LoTW. NO BUREAU QSLS. ADDED NOTE: Also look for
Art/N3DXX and Steve/AA7V, to be going to Virgin Gorda, BVI, starting
Wednesday November 21st through (tentative) Monday December 3rd. They
will be in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as a Multi-Single
entry and the ARRL 160m CW Contest (November 30th-December 2nd) with
N3DXX as a Single op (tentative) using the callsign VP2V/AA7V. They
will run high power/400w for both contests. Outside of the contests,
they will be on the WARC bands possibly, if time permits. QSL LoTW or
direct. NO BUREAU QSLS.
