CY9, ST. PAUL ISLAND (Update). The CY9M Team posted the following press
release (#3) on July 6th [edited]: "Very soon it's time for an inter-
national team of 10 amateur radio operators to board their flights to
Nova Scotia, Canada, to participate in the expedition to St. Paul Island,
a top-40 'most wanted' DXCC.
Quick Facts: CY9M St. Paul Island, July 26th-August 1st, 160-6 meters,
QSL via M0URX.
=
Once the team arrives at St. Paul, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, we plan
to unpack and prepare six Elecraft K3 transceivers, four amplifiers, raise
three Hex Beams and a number of other antennas in order to be active all
bands from 160 through 6 meters CW, SSB and Digital.
The power station consists of three generators that will constantly
charge three large battery tanks for maximum efficiency. We plan to consume
more that 500 litres of fuel, large amounts of camping food and other
'necessities', including several hundred litres of water =96 all of which
are not found on the island.
The team, together with 2 tons of equipment and supplies, head out to
sea on a 42 foot motor vessel on the evening of 25th July or on the morning
of the 26th depending on weather. We expect to be active starting July 26th
and continuously rock the bands until August 1st, weather permitting.
Participation throughout the IOTA contest.
After the activity, all contacts will be verified via LoTW and for those
who want paper QSL, Tim Beaumont, M0URX, lends us his excellent manager
services. The log will be available through ClubLog, likely after the
expedition.
The activity is supported both financially and through the loan of
equipment by several large clubs such as NCDXF, GDXF, ARRL and companies
like Elecraft, Acom and DX Engineering. But we are most proud that so
many individual amateur operators and DX chasers contribute to the activity
out of their own pocket.
If you would like to donate any amount to the CY9M St. Paul Island
Dxpedition, please click here: http://www.cy9m.com/donor
Feel free to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news
updates.
We look forward to working you from St. Paul Island, a top 40 most
wanted DXCC.

DIAMOND DXCC (Additional Diamond DXCC Tools and Reports Now Available).
The ARRL Web page reports, "The Diamond DXCC Award, celebrating the 75th
anniversary of DXCC, has proven to be popular around the world. Nearly
700 applications have been filed, with K3RA presently sitting atop the
list with 200 of the 231 possible entities in the log. Some incredibly
rare places have been on the air in 2012 so far, including Tibet and
Socotra Island! Recently ARRL has been able to add some additional tools
and reports to the Diamond DXCC system. An online form has been added that
is similar to the Online DXCC application. The Diamond DXCC application
works the same way, except it is tailored to work for just the Diamond
DXCC entities." For the complete report and more details, visit:

QSL MANAGER OF THE YEAR. The Golist QSL Manager Data Service is reviving
its QSL Manager of the Year Award. The purpose of this award is to
recognize the service of QSL Managers world-wide for the service they
provide to the World Wide DX Community. Nominations for this award will
be accepted by the Golist from DX and Contest clubs, world-wide, for the
year of 2012. Each DX club and Contest club is encouraged to poll their
members for their nominations for the Top 5 QSL Managers for 2012. The
definition of a QSL Manager for this award is any person who confirms
contacts via printed QSL Card for any station other than their Primary
Call Sign. Each club should tabulate the votes of their members and
submit to the Golist the Top 5 vote getters as voted by members of
their club. Votes should be tabulated and sent to the Golist by August 1,
2012, to be eligible for the QSL Manager of the Year award. Each club
world-wide may only send one submission for voting purposes. Records of
submission will be maintained by the GOLIST. A plaque, donated by DX
Publishing, Inc., publisher of QRZ-DX and THE DX MAGAZINE, will be
awarded to the QSL Manager of the Year selected at the W4DXCC Convention
held in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in September 2012. The recognized format
for your club's submission is as follows: Club Name; Club Officer (Name,
Call Sign, club office and email address); Top 5 QSL Manager Nominees
(list name and callsign). In the subject line of your official email:
*QSL Manager of the Year-2012*. Send to: <golist@gmail.com>. Ending
Date: August 1, 2012.
