6O     - "Due to the recent activation of Somalia by the 6O0CW group",  Paul
         N6PSE says, the Intrepid-DX  Group  has  decided  to  cancel  their
         plans to conduct a DXpedition in November as  6O3A  [425DXN  1091].
         "We feel that the  need  for  6O  contacts  has  been  sufficiently
         diminished to make it worth-while to continue with  our  plans.  In
         the coming days, we will refund 100% of all donations made  to  us.
         We hope to make other rare  activations  for  2013".  Darko,  J28AA
         (E70A) still holds the 6O3A licence, and is expected to  be  active
         again from Hargeisa on 25-31 May, including  participation  in  the
         CQ WPX CW Contest. See qrz.com for QSLling instructions.
6Y     - Sergey, UT5UDX will be active as 6Y/UT5UDX  from  Jamaica  (NA-097)
         on 20-30 May. He will participate in  the  CQ  WPX  CW  Contest  as

A5     - JH1AJT, JJ1LIB, KL2A, VR2KF (JH1OGX) and  ZL1GO  (JA4EKO)  will  be
         active as A5A from Bhutan from 24 May to 6 June. They will  operate
         SSB, CW and RTTY on  80-6  metres  with  three  stations.  QSL  via
         JH1AJT, direct and  bureau,  and  LoTW.  QSLling  instructions  and

GM     - Andre, GM3VLB will return to the Orkney (EU-009) group  to  operate
         from the islands of  Muckle  Green  Holm,  Linga  Holm,  Eynhallow,
         Faray and Calf of Eday between  21  May  and  7  June  (but  he  is
         prepared to remain  longer,  if  necessary).  QSL  via  home  call,

JT     - Five Russian operators will be active on the  HF  bands  as  JT7WFF
         from the Khovsgol Nuur National Park on 18-20 May. QSL  via  RZ0SB.

LA, SM - Ron, DL6AUK and Sven, DJ2AT will be  active  as  either  LG5LG  and
         SJ9WL from Morokulien, the station on  the  border  between  Sweden
         and  Norway  (www.sj9wl-lg5lg.com)  on  22-31  May.  QSL  for  both
         callsigns via LA4EKA. [TNX DX World]
P2     - Another Papua  New  Guinea  IOTA  DXpedition  is  planned  for  mid
         October for 3 weeks. G3KHZ and SM6CVX are organising this 7th  trip
         to P29, and they may have a vacancy for one more  operator.  Anyone
         interested please contact Derek, G3KHZ. Islands to be visited  will
         be St Matthias (OC-103), Tabar (OC-099) and  Lihir  (OC-069).  Hans
         may make an  additional  side  trip  after  the  end  of  the  main
         DXpedition. More information is expected in due course. [TNX G3KHZ]
PA     - Marcel, PD5MVH will be active as PD5MVH/p from  Goeree  Overflakkee
         (EU-146) between 19 May and 2 June. He will be  QRV  mainly  around
         14245 and 28555 kHz, and on 144.300 MHz. QSL via home call,  direct

PZ     - Serge, RX3APM will be active as PZ5P from Surinam on 24-29 May,  CQ
         WPX CW Contest included. QSL via UA4LU and LoTW. [TNX NG3K]
SV     - Jeff, N6GQ will be active as SV5/N6GQ from the Dodecanese  (EU-001)
         on 23-28 May, including a SOAB QRP  entry  in  the  CQ  WW  WPX  CW
         Contest, and as SV8/N6GQ from "various IOTAs" between  28  May  and
         17 June. QSL via home call and LoTW. [TNX NG3K]
SV5    - Bob OK2BOB, Vilda  OK2BC  and  Jindra  OK1AMM  will  be  active  as
         SV5/homecall from Kos Island (EU-001) from 22 May to 1  June.  They
         will operate mainly CW and SSB on the HF bands and  6  metres.  QSL
         via home calls, direct or bureau. [TNX OK2BOB]
TA     - The TC  Special  Wireless  Activity  Team  and  the  Giresun  Radio
         Amateurs and  Nature  Sports  Club  will  be  active  from  various
         lighthouses in the Western Black Sea region between  May  and  late
         September. The first two operations will be on 18-20 May as  TC1ILH
         from Igneada Lighthouse and as TC6KLH from Kerempe Lighthouse.  QSL

TA     - Dmitry, R3GM will be active as TA7/R3GM from Turkey on  24-27  May.
         He will operate CW and SSB on 160-10 metres, and  will  participate
         in the CQ WW WPX CW Contest as TC7C. QSL both callsigns via  RA1QQ.

V3     - Colin, KU5B will be active as V31UB on 23-29 May. He  will  operate
         CW, SSB, and RTTY on 160-6 metres, and will take part in the CQ  WW
         WPX CW Contest. QSL direct to home call or LoTW. [TNX NG3K]
V6     - Look for JA7HMZ  (V63DX)  and  JA7ZP  (V63ZP)  to  be  active  from
         Pohnpei (OC-010), Micronesia on 25-29  May.  QSL  via  home  calls.
         They plan to be QRV on 40-6 metres; JA7HMZ will take  part  in  the
         CQ WPX CW Contest as V6A (QSL via JA7HMZ). [TNX NG3K]
VK9L   - Chris VK3FY  will  be  active  as  VK9LHI  from  Lord  Howe  Island
         (OC-004) between 27 May and 2 June. He plans  to  operate  CW,  SSB
         and some RTTY in his spare time. QSL via VK3HF. Pat VK2PN and  Miro
         OK1NG will be on the island on 23-30 May, and  will  be  active  as
         VK9PN also during  the  CQ  WW  WPX  CW  Contest.  They  will  have
         antennas for 160-10 metres, and will operate mainly  CW  with  some

VU     - Manju, VU2SMS is active on 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres  SSB,  PSK  and
         CW as AU50GOA until 31 May.  The  special  callsign  celebrates  50
         years of independence from Portugal. Goa is a  Diamond  DXCC  Award

W      - The San Francisco Amateur Radio  Club  (W6PW,  www.sfarc.org)  will
         operate special event station W6G on 26-27  May  to  celebrate  the
         75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. They will be active  on
         10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 40 and 80 metres SSB and CW. QSL via K6BV.
XE     - PT2OP, XF3PAS and XE3N will be active as XF3LH from Cozumel  Island
         (NA-090) on 22-24 May. They will be QRV on 80-10  metres.  QSL  via

XE     - Members of Radio Club Cancun will be active  as  4A3RRC  from  Cayo
         Culebra (NA-200) on 1-3 June. They plan to operate SSB and RTTY  on

7O6T ---> The expedition to Socotra Island, Yemen went QRT at 21 UTC  on  15
May, as expected. In fifteen days 162,029 QSOs  (72997  SSB,  80237  CW  and
8795  RTTY)  with  37,863  unique  calls  were  made  from  three  different
locations. As part of the operating agreement, the  expedition  was  limited
to six radios and ten operators total. The planning began in February  2010,
and "this trip came about as a result of focusing on  being  a  good  person
and building meaningful relationships in the Republic of Yemen".

CQ 2012 HALL OF FAMERS ---> CQ Magazine announced on 18 May  the  2012  Hall
of Fame inductees. The CQ Amateur Radio Hall  of  Fame  was  established  in
January 2001 to  recognize  individuals  -  radio  amateurs  or  not  -  who
significantly affected the  course  of  Amateur  Radio,  as  well  as  radio
amateurs who have made significant contributions either  to  amateur  radio,
to their professional careers or  to  some  other  aspect  of  life  on  our
planet.  This  year's  inductees  are:  George  Badger  (W6TC),  Bill  Brown
(WB8ELK), Robert Brown (NM7M, SK), Evelyn Gauzens (W4WYR), Richard  Garriott
(W5WKQ), William W. Hansen (no call, SK),  Richard  Kirby  (ex-W0LCT/HB9BOA,
SK),  Fred  Maia  (W5YI,  SK),  Steve  Mendelsohn  (W2ML),  Larry  Mulvehill
(WB2ZPI), Rowley Shears (G8KW, SK), Mike  Staal  (K6MYC),  Frederick  Terman
(ex-6FT, W6AE, W6XH, SK), Patrick Tice (WA0TDA),  Louis  Varney  (G5RV,  SK)
and William A. Wilson (K6ARO, SK).
The CQ Contest Hall of Fame (established in 1986) and  the  CQ  DX  Hall  of
Fame (established in 1967) honour those  amateurs  who  not  only  excel  in
personal performance in these major areas of amateur  radio,  but  who  also
"give back" to the hobby in outstanding ways. This year's inductees  in  the
CQ Contest HoF are Jim Reisert (AD1C) and  Lothar  Wilke  (DL3TD,  SK).  The
2012 inductees to the CQ DX HoF are Don Chesser (W4KVX, SK),  Glenn  Johnson
(W0GJ) and Carl Smith (N4AA).

HEARD ISLAND 2014 ---> Cordell Expeditions has  announced  a  DXpedition  to
Heard Island, in early 2014. This project follows the very successful  VK0IR
expedition carried out in 1997. "We have assembled  a  core  team,  arranged
for the vessel, and are awaiting the landing  permit  and  radio  callsign",
Bob, KK6EK says. "We will be active on all bands and all modes, implement  a
variety of innovative real-time communications  technologies,  and  field  a
variety of scientific projects that are designed  to  observe  and  document
some of the unique resources on this extraordinary island". The website  for

QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE SPECIAL PREFIXES ---> Alan, 5B4AHJ has  compiled  an
"almost complete" list of 2Q, GQ and MQ prefixed callsigns for stations  NOT
located in  England.  The  operating  period  for  these  special  callsigns
celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of  Queen  Elizabeth  II  ends  on  10  June
