3DA - Phil, G3SWH and John, EA5ARC (G3OLU) will be active from Swaziland
on 21-29 February. The two will be using a single callsign (TBA)
and will operate CW only on 80-10 metres with two stations. QSL
via G3SWH, preferably via the OQRS facility on Phil's web site
(www.g3swh.org.uk), otherwise direct or bureau. Subject to a good
Internet connection, there will be on-line log on Phil's web site
and daily uploads to LoTW. [TNX G3SWH]
9X - Carl, SM6CPY will be active holiday style as 9X0PY from Rwanda
from 24 December to 7 January. QSL via home call, direct or
         bureau. [TNX DX World]
JA - Look for JS6RRR and JS6RRR/6 to operate from Miyako Island
(AS-079) from 23 December to 5 January. Activity will be on 160-6
metres CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and FM. Side trips to the nearby
islands of Ikema and Kurima are also being planned. QSL via bureau.
P4 - The IARU affiliated Aruba Amateur Radio Club (P43ARC) "has been
lobbying, for over 15 years, to update the current and very
outdated legislation governing Amateur Radio in Aruba". A special
event activity under the callsign P41HQ is taking place "in order
to raise awareness with our officials and to show international
support". All of the QSOs will be confirmed via I2MQP; if you want
to show your support, even if you do not work P41HQ, please follow
         the special instructions at http://qrz.com/db/p41hq
VK - John, VK6HZ will be active again as VK6ARI from Rottnest Island
(OC-164) on 23-30 December. QSL via home call and LoTW. [TNX
         rsgbiota.org]
VP6 - On 12 January the VP6T team [425DXN 1056] will start the journey
to French Polynesia, with the first stop in Tahiti (OC-046) for 3
days before taking a small airplane to Mangareva Island (OC-063).
They plan to be active from Tahiti - and if time permits also from
         Mangareva - as TX6T (QSL via G3TXF).
From Mangareva, they will sail for approximately 3 days; depending
on weather, they expect to be QRV from Pitcairn Island (OC-044) on
or around 20 January. The stay on Pitcairn has been extended for
one extra week, and VP6T will be on air until 4 February. Plans are
to have three stations active round-the-clock on 160-10 metres CW,
SSB and RTTY. Efforts will be made to give this extremely rare
Entity on as many bands as possible, but especially on the low
bands. QSL via G3TXF, direct or bureau, and LoTW. QSLling
instructions and further information, including details on how
contribute to this expensive project, can be found at www.vp6t.org

PACIFIC TRIP ---> Additionally to the VP6T expedition, Vincent F4BKV will

17, 15, 12 and 10m, and monoband verticals for 40, 30 and 20m. QSL via home
call, direct or bureau, and LOTW. Logsearch and OQRS (for bureau cards only)

425 DX NEWS MAGAZINE ---> The November 2011 issue is now available for
download at www.425dxn.org/monthly/index.html. [TNX IZ3EBA]

DXPEDITION OF THE YEAR ---> The poll for the "DXpedition of the Year"
as voted by readers of DX World.net can be found at
http://dx-world.net/2011/dx-world-dxpedition-of-the-year-2011/. The criteria
behind the poll is to remind operators of the many notable DXpeditions
which occurred during the last 12 months and to vote for their favourites
(*five* choices overall). Poll closes on 15 January 2012. [TNX MM0NDX]

ET3AA: STUDENT LICENSE PROJECT RESULTS ---> The results of the US FCC
Amateur Radio License examinations administered for 62 students at the
Institute of Technology of the University of Addis Ababa on 10-13 December
are as follows: 5 Extra Class, 36 General Class and 16 Technician Class
Licenses issued; five did not receive a license.
"After we get our logs combined", K3LP says, "we'll upload the results to
the Logbook of the World plus post the results as a search function. Thanks
to everyone for their understanding regarding the low bands. A future goal
will be set to operate from a remote location with exceptional receive
antennas". QSL ET3AA and ET3SID via N2OO for 8-13 December 2011 only.

HS0AC ---> "After over five weeks of inundation by flood water at the Asian
Institute of Technology campus at Kilometre 42 on Phaholyothin Road, a team
of RAST members led by station manager Finn, OZ1HET and President Chaiyong,
HS1QVD visited the club station there on Saturday, December 10". Finn
describes the situation as follows: "The club station was completely
destroyed, everything in there spoiled so we could only 'scrap' all out as
garbage. All furniture had fallen apart and everything was full of mud and
smelling very bad". The "HS0AC Horror Story", along with several impressive
pictures, can be found at www.qsl.net/rast/

IOTA ANNUAL UPDATE ---> The deadline for the 2012 Honour Roll and Annual
Listing approaches. Applications and updates submitted online on or before
31 January will count for the 2012 tables so long as the supporting cards
sent to checkpoints are postmarked no later than that date. Updates
postmarked after 31 January will be processed in the normal way but scores
will be held over to 2013. Listing in the tables is restricted to those
participants who have updated their scores at least once in the previous
five years (in the case of the 2012 tables this means since the 2007 annual
listings). Please submit online and not on paper - card volumes are now
such that paper applications place an unacceptable burden on checkpoints.
The 2012 tables will appear on www.rsgbiota.org in the Spring.

QSL 3B7C & 3B9C ---> T32C has prompted renewed interest in getting missing
cards from those trips. The following have taken over QSLing
responsibilities for the 3B7C (2007) and 3B9C (2004) DXpeditions: 3B7C QSLs
should now be sent to M0ZAK (Jim Steel, 6 Central Avenue, Shepshed, Leics
LE12 9HP, United Kingdom) and 3B9C QSLs should now be sent to G3RAU (Derek
Moffatt, Mill House, Middle Street, Glentworth, Gainsborough, Lincs DN21
5BZ, United Kingdom).

QSL KG4AJ ---> Buzz, NI5DX, has assumed the duties of QSL manager for Norm,
KG4AJ, who expects to be at Guantanamo Bay for two years. A new QSL card
will be designed, and it will take about 4 weeks to receive the cards once
the order has been placed. Buzz is awaiting a log transfer from Norm, then
he will able to confirm all past contacts with KG4AJ.

QSL T32C ---> "The card design has been finalised and we plan to start
mailing cards in January after the Christmas postal rush", G3XTT stated in
the latest press release dated 11 December (see www.t32c.com). "We have a
team of 10 QSL managers ready to start processing the T32C cards and we
estimate that we will eventually confirm around 140,000 QSOs". As for LoTW,
"we promised an upload within six months and, in practice, it will be very
much earlier. We wanted to upload as clean a log as possible and have made
some 500+ editorial changes to the log as a result of feedback from the log
uploads to Club Log and notes received from many of the Deserving. But we
are very conscious that many of you want to do a DXCC update before
year-end. Therefore, LoTW permitting, we plan to start the upload on 15
December, just over six frenetic weeks after our return from T32C.
Uploading 213k QSOs is a huge task and we don't necessarily expect it to go
smoothly first time (D68C, 3B9C and 3B7C all experienced problems), so the
upload may take several days to complete".

+ SILENT KEYS + Harry Berry, G0JMU (7Q7HB) died of a massive heart attack
on 12 December. He was regularly active from Malawi for a few months every
year. "All of his logs are in my possession", his QSL manager (G0IAS) says,
"any outstanding cards will be answered".
Other recently reported Silent Keys include Benjamin Alfonza Shaver Jr
(AA4XU), Derek Nicholls (G0GTC), Giulio Biagini (I5HUE), George J. Wesley
(KB2VO), Don Schmidt (N8AC), Robert H. Ekleberry (W4CKD), John E. Hamlet Jr
(W4ZW), Frank James Connelly (W7ND), W. H. Deverall (ZL1VS) and Bert Howes
(ZS6HS).
