Hi Bob and all,

Yup, the Yanks bought up all the bugs because they were used to the good
old reliable Vibroplex AKA sideswiper or sometimes sidewinder after the
rattlesnake. Soooo... when it comes to Union Pacific which came first,
the snake or the railroad? <bomb>

Along came iambic paddles and the electronic keyer, now the adjustments
have gone from the key and into the box, naturally the terminology stuck.
I've never used a bug or paddles so don't mind me if the word "weight"
makes no sense to me. That reminds me of one particular Field Day when we
couldn't find a straight key anywhere to accomodate one wizard I logged
for so he turned the paddles sideways. Another laugh came when he spoke
the transmissions to me, I can't copy THAT fast. That's the ham radio
motto for you, "whatever works". Kinda like your Outlook Express ay Bob?
(;->)

So what's your excuse these days? Can't blame it on the Yanks so what is
it now, frogs ate all the bugs? .... ..
