Hello Ian G0TEZ and Warren KB2VXA...and BOB and others....
I can not remember any Welshmen living here in Canada, that
flew anything else..but the Flag with the Red Dragon. Or
perhaps those thinking they were welsh, but were there to
subdue the Welsh....yeah perhaps it might have been that
flag...trying to replace the Red Dragon....maybe..eh?
Ian ... before Canada's present flag, we did have a
temporary which was the British Maritime red duster, with
a coat of arms on it to represent Canada. Over the
years it only changed in the coat of arms, until we saw
that the nost recognized symbol of Canada ,in the world
was the RED MAPLE LEAF ...thus we finally got our flag
but not until many debates, mostly coming from peoples
who considered themselves subjects of the British Empire
which by that time, was long gone and dead.
Now for a comment placed here by Warren KB2VXA....

Might get around to read it, and see if they got it
correct ... but then it matters who wrote it...eh?

Excuse me, Warren ..but WE didn't get rid of the Union Flag
it has another newly erected flag pole in Ottawa to fly
as a Commonwealth flag...as well other functions. The
old Red Ensign as Cannucks called the temporary flag, is
now used by the Province of Ontario, with the Coat of
Arm of the Province.
There is so many areas, I see with the Canadian Flag and
the Union Flag, together ... SO no ... WE did not get
rid of it.

In fact gentlemen .... along with flag changing in our
country and around the world, it can only be seen as progress
and an expression of their national Identity. Canada
has changed Provincial flags in several Provinces, as well
created out of it's northern territorys new areas...with
new flags, and even language changes to support the local
populace ....that is what makes in Canada our Multi-cultural
experiment a success, despite some racial problems.
As Bob would say .. but I think this comment was about
another posting ... "well , well, well" .. it might apply
here, and my comment might be "here we go again" to apply
here and there.
Take care Ian ... See you sometime In UK .... planning
the trip.
