Well the Empire might be long gone and dead in Canada, but there's
a little corner of old England where it is still every much alive.

It's on the Cotsta Geriatrica in Oz, where the loyal Albany-ian
monarchists like the flag just as it is, with the Union Flag taking up a
quarter of it.

Why not replace the union flag on the Oz flag with a flower?

The Golden Wattle - Acacia pycnantha (plant family - Mimosaceae) is the
officially national flower of Oz, but really, I think the national emblem
should be a Dame Edna gladioli, superimposed on a picture of a wind farm.

Yes, that would look quite fetching.

I consider myself English, not British. I hold no brief for the Union
Flag; my flag is the red cross of St George - the flag of England, so
here's my quote of the day:

                   "The Flag of England"

"What is the flag of England? Ye have but my breath to dare,
Ye have but my waves to conquer. Go forth, for it is there".

(Rudyard Kipling - The English King).

Best wishes
