G'day Warren ... and everyone reading along...to you too!

Hmmm ... let me try sort this all out now ... you said
but corrected 19 to 9, which outta date now, as we now
have carved another Province <state> outta the Northern
Territorys, so that got rid of the 9 or 10 before.

The Union Flag is the flag of Great Britain or United
Kingdom. And our last flag you described was called
the Red Ensign. It really was without the coat of
arms to the right...the marine flag of England's
merchant fleets.

The coat of arms never carried the flags of the provinces.
It carried the Norman three lions, and then Scotland's
lion rampant, the emblems of Ireland and France, and at
the bottom three maple leafs on a branch....

Newfoundland joined Canada after WW2. Their flag was
the Union Jack or Union Flag, but they recently
changed it to an interesting design, I have never
heard someone tell me what it was about?

>I wouldn't be a bit surprised in places and times it's

Maybe. but then the Betsy Ross was the begining of the
Stars and Stripes, and all flags after the orignal
13 stars are but progress to the current version.

>I suppose most know each state has a flag which is displayed
>under the national on flag poles in front of state and

Yes ... seen that a lot. The most unusual design or flag
shape has got to be the State Flag of Ohio. Never heard
why they chose that shape. But then whatelse can be
said about Buckeyes? oops...some Buckeye will take
a shot at my Hoosier background.

>Ours has a sailboat naturally with the slogan "At the top of
>the inland waterway." which BTW puts me on IOTA NJ111. (;->)

A sailboat, or a representation of a actual ship from history?

Whata mean Puxatawny Phil agrees with JACK? JACK sez it
will be an early spring, but via WIVB which had it life,
there was old Phil ...nosing scrolls...then some panel
figured his favoured this one scroll...which happened
to proclaim 6 more weeks of winter.

At least Wiarton Willie, in Wiarton Ontario, and JACK
agree .. but then of course I watch both on TV...where
I had to rely on Allyn VE3PRG, checking out JACK in
the bush behind his place...and giving his opinion.

BTW..Allyn is on packet... but is mostly heard on the
ONTARS net most mornings 3755 ....

I like the way Puxatawny runs their festival there...
but their method isn't as good as the Wiarton way...
mmmmm...now if they combined them it would make for
interesting watching.

In the next few days,, as we go from FLAGS to GROUND HOGS
and to GLOBAL WARMING ...well the temps are going to hit
8c ....then in a week plunge to -18c ...but then it
was also a warm spell in 1960s at close to 20c...so
they had better come up with better data instead of
chicken little and the sky is falling....

Oh well....Rusty and I have to go again....I just got
the lower jaw...Bulldog upper tap to let me know "ouch"

ttfn

Peter
