Hi Warren
Thanks for the comments. There is already a large rack of radios running
APRS the FBB bulletin board, the IRLP and various other services on lots
of bands.
Funnily enough they are not such a drain on the power because I have a
couple of solar cells charging up a battery or two and that pretty well
powers the shack for all but the depths of winter.
I have corresponded with Ray on various occasions with regard to packet
and (quite) a few years ago when I was a VK2 he was a forwarding partner.

The big consumer of power around my QTH is computers. I mentioned in
another bull that I am trying to get everything off the old clunkers and
onto the raspberry pi's. Slowly I am succeeding but it is a pretty steep
learning curve.

Linux is slowly demystifying but I just sort of get used to one variation
and the next bit of software I want to play with runs on a different
distro and I am almost back to square one.

Oops... Power is flickering... wind is around 80 to 90 knots here at the
moment and I have already lost the 40/80 dipole... The computer I am
typing on is not on the shack 12volt rail...

More later
