Tony's recent bulletin about closing caused me to examine my cost of running
the BBS.
After measuring the current, assuming resistive load, it draws with a TS430,
a FT920, a PTC2 and MFJ tncs 1.1 amp @ 240 volt.
A 12 hour day means 3.168 Kwh in standby.
The extra curerent when transmitting is about 1.3 amp for all radios.
That is really not making much difference because the duty cycle is quite low.
The big bugbear is the first 1740 Kwh in a quarter is 20.6 cents per kwh.
Additional kwh are 29.1 cents per kwh and last bill I went over 1740 by 114
kwh.So just half the power is at the lower rate.
It is costing about $67 a quarter. It is definately something to think about.

Tony's electricity rate may be higher than it is here in NSW.
I have just signed up for a better rate but it should reduce the cost by 8%.
We will see.
