THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT TUESDAY. THE COASTAL
FLOOD WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* LOCATION...COASTAL MAINE FROM PENOBSCOT BAY SOUTH TO THE
PISCATAQUA RIVER...AS WELL AS COASTAL ROCKINGHAM COUNTY NEW
HAMPSHIRE.
* TIMING...AT LEAST MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AND SIGNIFICANT BEACH
EROSION IS EXPECTED AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE TODAY AND
TONIGHT. HIGH TIDE TIMES ARE AROUND NOON TODAY AND AROUND
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION HAS OCCURRED OVER
THE LAST FEW DAYS...THEREFORE...CONTINUED EROSION AND FLOODING
MAY STILL OCCUR IN ISOLATED SPOTS EVEN WHEN NOT AROUND THE TIMES
OF HIGH TIDE. HOWEVER...THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EROSION IS EXPECTED
AROUND THE TIME OF TONIGHT/S HIGH TIDE. SURGE IS EXPECTED TO
AVERAGE BETWEEN HALF A FOOT AND ONE AND A HALF FEET.
* IMPACTS...COASTAL FLOODING...SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION...AND
DANGEROUS SURF AND RIP CURRENTS ARE ALL EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT.
THE RUNOFF FROM THE EXCESSIVE RAINFALL MAY ALLOW FOR AN
INCREASED FLOODING THREAT IN SEA SIDE ESTUARIES AND MOUTHS OF
RIVERS.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT...
AS FLOODING...SIGNIFICANT SPLASH OVER...AND BEACH EROSION ARE
EXPECTED.
