Hi Harry,
I didn't see your original post here, only Andy's reply, and then your
reply to that.
Since you are a licenced amateur operator, why don't you use an aprs server
and display your weather information under your callsign? Thousands do. For
the moment you will see CWOP stations via the aprs server but that is being
split away due to the volume of traffic and, in time, I expect that only
AR weather information will appear on the aprs server. Still, that's a lot
of stations.
Forgive me if you know the following. As I said, I missed your original
post.
In order to be able to logon to a server to upload information you will
need a passcode number. If you use UIView the supplier of UIView should be
able to supply one that's unique to your callsign. If you use xastir it
comes with a passcode generator. Just run the script with your callsign as
an argument and it spits out your passcode.
You could try this server uk.aprs2.net:14580
Be prepared for a lot of traffic using port 14580 if you don't use filters.
There may be a regionally filtered port. I use port 14579 which provides just
VK and ZL traffic. You may find a similar port for the UK.
You might gain some benefit from subscribing to the TAPR aprs list but be
prepared to wade through some rubbish at times. I can't remember how I
subscribed - maybe a blank message, with subscribe as the title, to
aprssig@lists.tapr.org. A bit of Googling should set you on course.
Cheers ... Ray vk2tv
