I apologize for probably asking an old question. I would like to know
if it is possible to set up a KPC 3 ver 6.0 to do APRS? The problem is
I am hearing the packets and my machine is IDing but I have not seen my
call sign on any of the APRS maps. Any thoughts as to why this is?
Thank you in advance and by the way Merry Christmas.

Wayne, kd5jjp

What are you using it to do?

Are the "APRS maps" you refer to the web ones like findu? If so, it is
possible your system is working, but you are just not making the RF trip to
an iGate.

If you could describe your setup and what you are trying to achieve that
would be useful.

Hello Jim and the group,

Just to let you know I finally showed up on FindU.com. I guess you were right about the RF getting to a igate. to answer your question I am using a KPC 3 Ver 6 the chip inside says that it was made in 1996. I have hooked it up to a Kenwood TM-V7 that I brought in 2000. What I am trying to do is set up a digi for some friends, I do not have the capability to do APRS mobile quit yet but I will be working on it later. The igate I am trying to hit is about 20 miles away, my tower is 45' tall, the hill I am on is about 400' above sea level; one of the tallest in our Parish (we have Parishes instead of counties in Louisiana). Thank You Jim for your help even if there was not very much quit yet , I will be calling again if I run into any trouble. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New 2008. 73 for now
